I received the following email which was sent by the college student association president to all students in college accommodation following complaints about noise during exam term. Thought it'd be worth a laugh or two (especially for people still having or about to have exams!):
Dear College,
We are writing in regards to complaints which we have received from a number of undergraduates. We feel that it is important to remind you about noise levels around college as we approach exam term.
College has now entered a quiet period allowing students to revise without disruption due to noise. However, it has become apparent that some students are being affected by noise, this includes noise from people congregating on walkways and staircases late at night, music and TVs and also quality intimate time shared by couples.
Please be aware that sound travels clearly between rooms and into stairwells particularly at night time when there is less general activity to mask the sound. Whilst we would not wish to spoil anyone's fun, we would ask that noise generated by intimate activities be kept to a minimum enabling other students to sleep or work undisturbed (physically or psychologically!).
We have received a number of complaints about (mainly female) vocalisation, which has woken up numerous undergraduates in the early hours of the morning. Also, please be aware that headboards on beds bang against the thin Robinson walls very loudly. Please ensure that your bed is a sufficient distance from the wall, a couple of inches should do the job.
Generally, please be considerate towards other students living close by. This is not a problem which is easy for individuals to talk to offending students about so please don't put them in a position where they feel that they have to.
Sorry to have a rant but we are speaking on behalf of a significant number of students who have expressed their concerns to us.
Sleep well everyone, (signed) |
