PIG ONLINE
| i am on afternoon/night shift today because i was feeling still feeling so tired. so i had my very kind older brother, danny, to cover this morning, till about three. i rarely bring my laptop to work since i have always had a book to read. however, now that i have read all the books that is in our house (we don't have many) that interest me, i thought i should bring my laptop today to listen to the albums elaine burnt for me, and keep myself entertained playing spider solitaire, or watching crash. clicking the cards away just a while ago, i suddenly felt the need for internet connection. i looked at the phone and recalled the username and password of a jaring account belonging to the sister of a good friend i had sometimes used back in secondary school (haha thank you!!). so i connected the phone line and started setting up the connection. then, i dialed. the username and password turned out to be invalid on the domain. sad. i must have remembered the wrong username or password, or both, or the account has simply expired because... who uses dial-up these days right? i sat there thinking for a minute. i really wanted internet (and for no real reason to be honest!). i got my wallet from the drawer and walked real quickly to the grocery store behind us. "Hi uncle, do you have jaring dial-up prepaid cards?" "HUH? handphone one ar?" "no no.. internet one.." "oh, dont have" i went to check three other grocery stores and the same thing happened. then, i walked into the first of the two telecommunications shop. "prepaid card? ya got!" "no no.. i want internet one.." "oh... handphone one got la.." "okay, thank you!" my last hope... the telecommunications shop where i topped up yimi's hotlink.... "jaring? don't have..." "oh, ok..." i was about to walk out when i noticed the lady taking out a stack of cards and looking through them. "erm.... tmnet prepaid i have..." "really? can i have a look at it?" "erm.. here.." it cost RM20 and read "tmnet prepaid reload" on the front. there is a "security ID" that i must scrap off using a coin on the back of the card, an expiry date, and the card's serial number. there was something amiss i thought. i was sure i needed an account: a username and a password! however, feeling so impulsive, i bought the card anyway! "i think i can use this! thank you!" i paid and almost ran back to Home Delights, where i almost immediately realised i still cant get a connection because i didn't buy an account! i rang ben ben and kimmie ong, and texted elaine to enquire how i should set up a dial-up connection with the card i just bought and elaine told me that i should have bought a RM30 card for a new account! i sat and think for another minute. that's it! elaine had always been using dial-up until not too long ago! i could get her username and password and top it up for her! so, my dearest elaine gave me her username and password and here i am, feeling all proud of myself! it has been ages since i've used a dial-up connection or done anything quite this impulsive. this is so exciting. *beams |
