YMCA, guys? A bloody ex $110 a night

I'm flying in on Tuesday, out on Friday. Planning to stay at the YMCA all three nights. If any of the guys wants to bunk in, no prob, we'll split the rent on a nightly basis. It's S$110+ per night. Drop a line if you're interested, I'm staying there either way, so don't include me on your joint-accomodations planning. Cheers. See you all soon.

Bunking places

I've did my own search, and here's what I've got

Bugis
1. Security Lockers
2. No curfew
3. Internet access (not sure if its wifi or pay per use)
4. $45 for single room shared bathroom, or $20 onwards for dorm beds with breakfast incl GST
5. Location: Bugis village, pretty much inbetween the city centre and SA.

Summer Tavern
1. Security Lockers
2. No curfew
3. Broadband access? Dont' know if its really up to speed
4. $24 for dorm rooms only with breakfast incl GST
5. Location: Clarke Quay, pretty much the hot tourist place.

Sleepy Sams
1. Security Lockers (no idea how big)
2. No curfew
3. Broadband access... same thing as bugis backpackers
4. Single rooms for $39, dorms from $25 with breakfast incl GST.
5. Location: Bussorah Street, Bugis. A couple of blocks up from Raffles Hotel.

Problem with the two Bugis sites is that the first site is very conviniently located next to a mosque, so early in the morning...
Otherwise, all three locations are pretty okay for their price ranges. Only major grouse is the uncertainty over the extent of their security lockers.

I've got a couple of other leads I want to explore, emm, Hangout, Cozy Backpackers etc. Not very sure when the rest of you are coming down, but I'll be there on Monday morning. Will be finding a place there first anyway.

the so-called social secretarial job=)

hi guys(you know who you are), i am assuming we all are interested in getting common accomodation when we're down in Singapore to collect our A level results, so i've looked up the backpackers' hostels in Singapore (for financial reasons), and here are some suggestions, in descending order of how central the location of the hostel is, and type of lodging stated are the cheapest each hostel offers:

1. Summer Tavern

-Carpenter Street, Boat Quay
-10 bed or 22 bed, mixed dorm SGD20.00 (per person per night)
-4 bed, private, shared bathroom SGD 25.00

2. Backpacker Cozy Corner Guesthouse

-Northbridge
-6 bed, mixed dorm SGD 13.50

3. Bugis Backpackers

-2 minutes from Bugis MRT
-10 bed, mixed dorm SGD20.00

4. A Travellers Rest-stop

-Chinatown
-6 bed, mixed dorm, Ensuite (super plus factor!!) SGD18.00

5. The Hive

-Lavender
-10 bed, mixed dorm SGD 16.00

They all come with breakfast, linen, laundry services (if you need), air-conditioning, no curfews, etc. Decent, in my opinion, but note that the prices stated might not include taxes and service charge, except for Summer Tavern (which I vote for... cos the pictures looked nice!).

Please do give your opinions as we'd like to make reservations soonest possible. Do also suggest when we should travel down by bus, and how long does each of us plan to stay. I personally suggest taking a midnight bus on tuesday (so that we can accomodate su yee as well), and save a night on checking in on Wednesday, since they do provide 24-hour check-in services.

That's all. I hope you guys have a habit of checking this site everyday. Bye bye, I am very tired... Hope to see replies when I wake up.

This Is More Than A Shameless Plug

If you're willing to read through my latest blog entry, the following would make much more sense.

To cut a long story short, I have
9 "Buy one get one free Outdoor Theme Park Day Pass" vouchers and 8 "Free Bowling Games at Genting Bowl" vouchers. They expire by the 28th of April, so I have until then to abuse the 50% effective discount on ticket purchases (price for Adult pass is RM32 --50%--> RM16) as well as the bowling ones...

If there are enough of you guys able to set aside a weekend (or even a weekday), what say we KL-ers (or anyone else who can make the trip to Genting on a date yet to be set) go up there for a day of, um, activities?

Anyone in favour?

Whaddya think?

Hello folks! Accidentally stumbled upon this "Ban Stupid People Petition" from one of the online forums I often visit. I'm not demanding everyone here to sign the petition ('coz I myself don't usually sign online petitions even if I happen to agree with the lot, and I didn't sign this one either), just curious about your opinions after you read it. ;)

Here you go:

Floury Hands

A little hint of what I've been messing around with.

Try number 2, wholemeal this time. Got the texture and flavour right too. But it looks a bit burnt in the picture, probably the lighting. Heh...
