Hey...

Remember when I actually use to blog?
.
Well, not too much going on at our house. I can't believe summer is already coming to a close. Seems like we just barely were celebrating birthdays in the spring. Brady, Mya, Sophie and I all have our birthdays within a month of each other, so as you can imagine, funds are low during that time.
.
Mya turned four this year. FOUR! That means next year she will start kindergarten. Where is the time going? Don't ask me. I can't even post a timely blog anymore. Anyway, Mya is getting ready to start preschool again this fall. I think she needs to be in preschool, because her boring mom can't keep up with her. She is very eager to learn new things. She has discovered computer games. I can already see the picture in my head ten years from now when she is teaching me about computers and other "electronics" that I don't understand. I'll probably be wearing mom jeans by then too. Won't Mya be excited to bring boys home. Oh wait, she's not ever allowed to date, so she won't have to worry about that one.
.
.
Sophie turned one. She is growing so quickly. Every time I turn around she's into something or other. She keeps me going, that's for sure. She has seven teeth that all came in at once, and then nothing. It's been months. But, let me tell you, she uses those teeth like it's her job. That kid bites me all the time, and hard! I was clipping her nails the other day and she wasn't very happy about it, so she turned her head and bit my cheek as hard as she could. She drew blood! Who does she think she is Renesme? She's still a baldy, as you can see. She'll probably have some actual hair in about a year, just like Mya. She doesn't say much yet, just mama and dada, although last night we ALL heard her say My-My. It was precious.
.

The end.

It's been a while...

I cannot believe how long it's been since I've blogged. It does not feel like 5 months, that's for sure. I've debated whether or not I should just erase this thing. I've just lost any blogging enthusiasm whatsoever. So much for going private. Again, that would take effort that I'm not willing to put in. So for now, we'll stay public and hope the weirdos stay away.

Anyway, thought I'd give a few updates since my kids are now a half year older since the last post.

Mya Moo: she's busy with ballet, which she loves. The teacher has them perform for the cute little folks at the nursing home. She also finally started preschool. There was an opening, so she will only be able to attend for two months, but that's good enough for us. She turns four in three days. I cannot believe it! I remember bringing this baby home from the hospital like it was yesterday (do I sound like a parent, or what?).

Sophie Sue: this little miss has had an onslaught of teeth. She has six teeth that showed up within two weeks of each other. Poor thing. But she's getting that big toothy grin, and she's still a happy little baby. She's crawling all over the joint, finding microscopic pieces of garbage and other such items to eat. (I never realized how hard it is to keep all the little things out of their mouth. I didn't really have this problem with Mya, because I never left her stuff laying around. But Mya leaves pennies, beads, paper, etc, all for Sophie's taking.) She, too, will be one next month. Another unbelieveable event.

It's funny to think that one year ago today, I found myself in the hospital about to give birth four months early. It was such a traumatic event for me--this whole past year, really. I can't explain it, but it's almost a bittersweet. So many worries and fears, but so many miracles (only visible now since I can look back and process everything). But I don't think I have fully processed my feelings; we've been in survival mode for so long that we are finally now just picking up the pieces. I don't mean to sound like this was a tragic experience; it wasn't, and it has all ended positive. We have been very blessed. But it was a stressful time, one that I don't fully know how to deal with yet.
Anyway, just wanted to throw that out into the universe. I can always bend the universe's ear, right? All in all, Sophie hung in there for an extra month. And now look at her. I always knew she was a fighter.

Cha-cha-changes...

I think I want to set our blog to private. Please leave your email in the comments if you would like to keep up with the Kardashians, just kidding--the Muglestons. This blog will self-destruct in one week.

Fair-N-Dipity

I love the fair. Ever since I was a tiny tot, I can remember getting so excited to go to the fair and eat all the junk, ride all the rides, look at the animals (although the animals weren't that fun to me). The fair just holds great memories with my family and friends (except for the year I got beat up by a gang). Anyway, I realized that Mya has been to the fair every year since she was born, and two of those years we didn't even live here. Now that's fair-n-dipitous if you ask me. This year, we were able to leave Sophie with my mom and spend some time with Mya. I love watching her face on all the rides, like it's the coolest thing she's ever done. Can't wait for next year, and I can't wait for next year's fair committee to come up with an awesome play on words. My favorite so far was "Deux Carnival--the fun continues!"
.
Just some "food" for thought.
Sneaking a quick pick.
I had to play with this picture to even see her face, but I thought Mya looked so happy with her temporary fair-friend.

This was an accidental shot, but it turned out semi-cool.

Say cheese! Or Spaghetti! Or whatever will get you to smile!

These girls have had a busy modeling schedule. Last week, Grammy did a photoshoot of them wearing these cute dresses she found. She caught a great picture of Sophie smiling. A miracle since she was so cranky the rest of the time. Is there ever a good time to photograph children?
.
A few weeks before that, we had a friend of a friend, who is also my friend (got that?) take some beautiful pictures of Sophie and Mya. We got a little sneak preview and I'm so excited to see the rest. Thank you, Erin!

Ros-light / Twi-well

The other day, I was reading reviews and such on Amazon and one of the topics was "favorite show that was cancelled before its time." Almost every poster said Arrested Development (I fully agree), Firefly, and Roswell. I had never even heard of Roswell. So, I went over to Hulu to see what it was all about. I decided I would give the pilot one shot, and if it was cool enough, I would conform. Not even five minutes into it, I thought I was watching a spin-off of Twilight. But actually, since this show came out in 1999, Twilight would technically be a variation of Roswell. There are so many similarities. Except this time, it's an alien saving the human. There's a Rosalie type sister. There are super-powers. There is even a scene where the two are lab partners in Biology. Only the first season is on Hulu, but I'm going to watch it, I think. We'll see just how Twilight-y it becomes. Kind of makes me wonder if Stephenie Meyer was a fan of this show. Watch it here.

Hey, you...

...look how cute I'm getting!

I know that last one is blurry, but I couldn't resist that half smile.
This girl weighs 9 pounds 3 ounces right now. I already need to pack away her preemie and newborn clothing. Aside from a fairly bad--and sad--case of reflux, Sophie Loafie (as Mya refers to her) seems to be getting the hang of it here.

Our most recent family portrait

Here is our family from left to right: mom, dad (with a beard), Mya, Ellie (not so happy today), and Sophie. I did help draw the circles for the head, but that was it.

Mya was making me laugh so hard today. She narrated as she drew another picture of herself and her cousin Hannah:

Hannah: "Hi, Mya. Can you come play with me?"

Mya: "Just a minute, I'm getting my nose drawn on."

Hannah: "Then can you play?"

Mya: "Well, I will still need a mouth."
