Hexies in Blogland

Encouraging Words of the Day:
I've done very little sewing lately.  I made these hexie flowers for my partner in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. She requested light blue flowers with a dark blue center of dark blue flowers with a light blue center so I made one of each.  I hope she'll like these:

And then my partner made these for me:
I asked for a surprise and she certainly surprised me with these adorable monkeys. Thank you so much.

In another swap I'm in, theses two pretty flowers were sent to me:
I'm so lucky to have these friends sending me these fabulous flowers. Thanks, Everyone.

I'm linking up with Anthea's "Piece Yourself Together" linky. Clink on the word linky below and it might take you to Anthea's blog. I used to blog with Blogsy on my ipad but that no longer works so now I'm trying Blogpad Pro and I can't figure out how to make the picture a link of anything in my sentence a link. I highlight it and try to add the link and it just adds the word "linky" below.  Maybe that link works. If not, go to this:

Anthea's Piece Yourself Together Hexie Link

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Still working on my 1/2-inch hexies. There are now 253 hexies sewn together. I think I posted before that there were 334 hexies sewn together but I guess that was "wishful thinking" since it probably should have been 234 hexies. Anyway, here's what I've done to date:

I'm linking up with Anthea's "Piece Yourself Together" hexie link.

Trunk Show

There's a Trunk Show going on. This is the idea of Soma from "Whims & Fancies." Click here for more information: Really, there are all sorts of prizes being given away plus we get to see alll the fabulous projects others are making. Here's what I've done in preparation for our upcoming Thanksgiving Day.
I made these two wall hangings, one for my sister and one for me. She chose the one on top.  They're so fast and easy to make. I was able to practice my "quilting with rulers" on these.  Quilting with rulers is somewhat of a struggle for me but I'm hanging in there.  I'll get better one of these days.   That is all.

Continuing Hexie Sewing

Encouraging Words of the Day:
Sewing continues on my 1/2-inch hexie quilt. I've now sewn 334 hexie flowers together along with the green separator hexies. It measures about 44 x 50 inches.
And I've sewn these one-inch hexie flowers for my partner in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. She requested polka dots.
I'm linking up with Anthea's "Piece Yourself Together" links. Click on the photo below to see what others are doing with their hexies. On second thought, since I've somehow lost my Blogsy app and am having to learn a new app in order to post from my ipad, click on this link:  http://hibiscus-stitches.blogspot.com.au/2016/11/more-hexys-for-epp-tuesday.html
I'll have to figure out how to add a link to a photo. That is all.

Quick Hexie Post

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Just a short post to show you the flowers I made for my swap partner in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap. She requested flowers made of 1930s fabric with a light yellow center. Ta da!

And, of course, work continues on my 1/2-inch hexie project. There are now 205 flowers and it measures about, well, I forgot to measure it and I have to hurry to try to get on Anthea's linky for "Piece Yourself Together."

Beautiful Round Robin Finish

Encouraging Words of the Day:

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I am by doing one of my favorite things, sewing. I've finished quilting and binding a little lap quilt/wall hanging. This is the product of a recent Round Robin with family and friends. I wanted a Christmas quilt to hang during the Christmas season and was so pleased at the end result of the Round Robin. Check it out:

I started with the center block, now surrounded by a signature block from each Round Robin member in each corner. I'm just delighted with how it turned out. Thanks Lynette, Ida, Mary, and Sara.
The backing fabric was provided by my sister Ida who knows how much I like house blocks. Here's the back:
Thanks, Ida. That's the perfect backing.
Short post on this Sunday but "that is all."

Piece Yourself Together Some Hexies AND Pincushions

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Today I'm linking up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches and the Piece-Yourself-Together linky

I'm constantly sewing hexies into flowers but it's been a while since I've linked up. Here are four flowers I've made for friends.
I also want to remind you of another linky which ends tomorrow. Ida at "My Sister Made Me Do It" is hosting the "2nd Annual Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade." Come join us by showing off your pincushions, any you've made or swapped or bought, etc. AND you could win some pretty exciting prizes too. By the way, I have another pincushion to show off, one my sister made for me.

It's beautifully embroidered on the top and is perched on top of a little jar, perfect for holding buttons or sewing notions. Thanks, Ida!

Check out this link for more information on the Pincushion Parade:

Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade 2016

Yes! Time for the "Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade 2016" and I'm ready. I had such a good time looking at everyone's pincushions last year so can hardly wait to get started on this year's.

But first, here are the "Encouraging Words of the Day:"

Now, here are my entries for the Parade:

I again made a round pincushion that's made up of hexagons AND pentagons. I had to actually get my son's old soccer ball (AGAIN) and use it as a guide to sew these together correctly and make the round shape. Here is this year's pincushion pictured with the one I made last year.
Then I ran into a really interesting pincushion and decided to sew that together. BUT, since I've been sewing for a long time, I don't need to follow the directions, right? So saying, I ended up with a "pin pillow" rather than a pincushion. Then, I made everything smaller and came up with a size more worthy of being called a pincushion. Here are both of them. They both have a little pocket in front for scissors or thread or hexies or whatever:
The next pincushion was made my my nephew when he was about 12 years old and wanted to learn to sew. He sewed it up by hand and was quite proud to present me with it. Sadly, he died almost 2 years ago but I always think fondly of him when I see this little pincushion, well, I always think fondly of him but anyway, we had fun the day he sewed this together. He loved the fuzzy animal print.

My grandson gave me the stuffed Angry Bird when we were both into playing the game on our iPhones. Perfect for a pincushion! The Angry Bird is probably angry because I stuck all those pins in him.

I've been putting together some sewing kits for friends and sewed up these little pincushions to add to the kits.

Lastly is this little bitty pincushion that I made for my "take-along" sewing kit. I use this a lot when I travel. It beats putting the needle in the car seat or on my pants leg. I'm so glad I made it because I use it all the time. Well, I made two. They're really small since the bottom is a lid from a 2-liter soda bottle.

This last photo shows my pincushions in the "Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade 2016."

That is all.

Upcoming Pincushion Parade AND Prizes.

Encouraging Words of the Day:

It's been a while since I've blogged. You know. As everyone says, life happens but I know life happens to us all and some of you keep blogging. Anyway, here I am...

I have been sewing all along. I've been working on this GFG made up of 1/2-inch hexies and have sewn 200 together although the project is only about 46 X 50 inches.

I also continue to sew hexie flowers for swap partners in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." These are the flowers I sent to my August swap partner who asked for flowers from Civil War fabric with a cream center.

Also completed this quilt top in the "Aiming for Accuracy" quilt-along. I still need to quilt it.

AND, I also want to tell you about an exciting upcoming event. My sister who blogs at "my sister made me do it" is hosting her annual "Pincushion Parade" starting on September 5. It gives us all an opportunity to show off our pincushions PLUS win exciting prizes. Everyone wins something! How exciting is that? Click on the Pincushion photo below to learn more.

That is all.

Hands2Help Challenge 2016 Linky Party

It's that time of year again, the time we join Sarah's linky party for the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge 2016.

This year I've again made two quilts for "Happy Chemo." This organization provides quilts and comfort for chemo patients. Below are the two quilts I've made.

Check out this link to see quilts others have made for Hands2Help. I hear there are 125 quilts made for charity donation this year.

That is all.

Garden BOM Linky Party

Encouraging Words of the Day:

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. - Romans 5:8 (NLT)

Doing a quick blog post today so I can link up with the Garden BOM Link Party Blocks 3 and 4.

My sister Lynette who blogs at "and the little sister follows," and I joined this BOM together and are enjoying these blocks tremendously. We can’t wait to get started on the April blocks.

Here’s what I’ve done:
