Bridging to Brownies

Lorelai completed her Daisy year and got her Summit Award for completing all of the Daisy Journey requirements.  Her troop bridged to Brownies  on June 28th.  Because of some issues during encampment in May, there was an open leader spot for our troop and so I am now a co-leader for the girls so I got to be part of the bridging ceremony and I got to pin Lorelai with her brownie pin.  We did an entire service unit bridging ceremony, so there were a lot of troops bridging to various levels.  It took a long time, and it was super hot.  We had a potluck lunch right after and then we left.  Mike took the kids to the ward camp out the night before and he was tired.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Tristan went to cub scout day camp the week of June 23.   He got to be with most of the boys from wolf den which was nice and few new faces. It was a week long and they got to do a whole bunch of cool things like archery and BB gun shooting. They made a bunch of wood stuff and played live chess. Tristan was most excited for Chess, and then they wouldn't listen to him so he came home in tears.  It was kinda sad and cute at the same time.  He had a lot of fun, especially since he didn't really want to go.  He can't wait for next year!

Lorelai's Cast Comes Off

Poor Lorelai.  Her cast should have come off around June 18 but she had Girl Scout Camp. So they changed her appointment to the 11th since she was able to put weight on it. But her doctor left on vacation.   So she kept it on a week and half longer than she needed to.  We finally got it off on June 26th.  That girl was such a trooper. I am so glad it was her that broke and limb and not the other kids.  She didn't complain once!  She really didn't.  There was no "this is itchy" or "I hate this" once from her. She just sucked it up and dealt with it. She is amazing. Boy did her foot stink when it came off. How the nurse and the x-ray tech didn't throw up, I have no idea.  I was across the room and was gagging.  Haha.  The good thing is she is so pale already there was no noticeable skin color difference. She got a clean bill of health, no surgery needed.

Payton's First Hair Cut

We finally got Payton's hair cut! It only took us 2 and half years! Haha.  She did good and sat through the whole thing! It helped that they had Frozen on TV,

Girl Scout Day Camp

Lorelai's orthopedist said she could NOT go to girl scout camp this year.  Really he said it was inadvisable and that she should stay home to be safe.  But, we paid the money, she loves it and we had to pull some strings to get her in before she broke her foot. She was so sad when she was told she couldn't go.  I emailed the camp coordinator and told her about the situation.  She said to send Lorelai and they would make sure she got to participate and that she didn't have to walk around.  They were amazing!  Her unit would cart her around in a wagon or in the golf cart, they were so good about including her.  She made so many new friends, and this year two other girls from her troop were there so she wasn't alone.  She had a blast.  I am glad she gets to go every year.  I loved girl scout camp as a kid too. This years theme was Marsupial Madness, so they learned all about Australia and different marsupials.

Relay For Life

The Daisy's were asked to come to Relay for Life to pass out flowers during the survivor lap and then join in.  Only two girls from our troop were able to go, Lorelai and Abby B. It was a very touching ceremony. I lit a luminary in honor of my Aunt Gladys who died from brain cancer two years ago.  The girls did one lap with the survivors after, and then I had to pull Lorelai since she was still on crutches.

Last Day of School

The last day of school was on June 12.  We had a lot of snow days to make up for and the school board even excused some. I swear we would have been in school another month if they made up every day.  I went in to Tristan's class to help clean up the room before the bell.  And then went out side to great the kids.  The teachers were so cute.  They set up a big sound system and played the song "Happy" and then the teachers lined the walk way and blew bubbles at the kids as they walked out. Cause Lore is on crutches she was one of the first kids out. She was so sad. She did not want school to be over.  Tristan was too.  We were especially sad since our girls Rylee and Phoenix were moving in a couple days and this was our last chance to walk home with them.  Both kids ended the school year with all their scores above grade level.  They are both doing great at school.

End of school party

The kids did a little end of school party type thing.  Lorelai's class each read a book to the parents and Tristan's class had a picnic.  Lorelai did great reading her part in If You Take A Mouse To School.  She is getting really good on her crutches and I think walks faster with them than without. We always get a lot of comments on how fast she is.  She is fearless and has fallen down a few times because she just goes and goes.
