Sun Freckles

When she grows up will she think she is fat?
Only because the women she see's are skeletal.
Will she grow to hate her freckles?
Because she doesn't see girls like her on a Neutrogena Ad.
When she grows up will she dye her hair blonde?
Simply because she doesn't want to stand out in a crowd.
What will she see when she looks in the mirror?
Maybe she has learned not to look.
When she grows up will she earn less than a man?
Because equality goes both ways.
What will she be?
What will she see?
Will she grow in a world of equality and peace?
A world where all of these questions will cease
to exist because the barriers are
BROKEN.

Really?

Today a woman looked at me and said,

"You don't look old enough to have graduated from college".
"Well, actually I am a graduate student".
"Really, I thought you were still in High School".

I need to remember this conversation and be happy about it when I am older.
