Sunday Stash & Dash - Whoops

Ummmmmm........ I sort of forgot that I sort of made a comment that I sort of wouldn't be buying any fabric before I went to Tokyo......

I did just go to Ikea for the sole purpose of buying this bolt of fabric!

Whoops #1 - Last Sunday's trip to Ikea was for one purpose only.  My husband came along with me knowing that purpose, and when I questioned whether to get the whole bolt, he very cleverly commented "It's your money".  Well played husband.....

#indelible @cottonandsteel #moonlit #mustang #moonlitdenim #essexlinen #iminheaven

Whoops #2 - I folded on my "I'm not buying Cotton + Steel, cos I don't need it" virtue.  And whilst I put it in my cart, I thought I best fill that baby up.  So I did.  Essex Linen and Indellible are now located on my shelves....  I have to admit - I bought the half yard of Moonlit under the premise that it was, in fact, a canvas weight print.  I was very disappointed when it arrived and was quilting cotton.  I had BIG plans for that canvas!  The store I bought it from have been made aware of their ambiguous wording and have thankfully changed it so nobody else will think they are getting canvas.  In the meantime, I'll just wait, ahemmmm, for the replacement canvas I purchased today from another store.  Whoops.

Just received my new business cards from @moo and love them!!! #nowimreallyaquiltingbusiness

Whoops #3 - Really shouldn't be counted as a whoops.  I have wanted new business cards for quite some time - cos I've outgrown my cutesy pink and green "handmade children's clothing" cards.  I was very patient and waited for moo.com to have a sale.  They did.  So I got me some new cards.  They truly are much nicer in real life, but you know - this post is about dashing, it's 10.40pm, so this IG photo will just have to do!  I think they represent me just perfectly!

Over and out.

Sunday Stash - The Great Destash Edition!

So unless you were living under a rock (or not on Instagram) you would know that a fabulous phenomenon swept fabric hoarders around the world a few weeks ago.  Someone fabric savvy decided to use the hashtag #thegreatfabricdestash and told everyone to go forth and cull.  To date, there are over 10,000 destash posts on IG!  I only had one target on my list - Terrain!  I put a call out on IG, telling peeps what I was looking for, and then started receiving tags alerting me to its whereabouts!  I happily nabbed one bundle from a lovely gal in the USA.

And this my friends, rounds out my #terrain collection! And also is the first arrival from the fabric destash.

Mmmmmmm, orange Terrain!

Approximately one week later, the gorgeous Penny Poppleton decided us Aussies needed to create our own action - given the postage rates are ludicrous to get our fabric across the ocean.  When she put the call out for destashers, I was horrified - I was away at the beach!  It didn't stop me from participating though!

I've taken to sitting beside the road to check all things internet. Lovely view and a friendly reminder by the neighbour of which country I'm in!
I took to sitting on the side of the road outside our holiday house (the best place for reception!), madly checking and rechecking the hastag #greataussiedestash And I struck the jackpot on several occasions.....  As you will see, I came up with a few new targets......
My first 2 packages arrived from #greataussiedestash and they are fabulous!
Exhibit A. Half a yard of Far Far Away, a fat 8th bundle of Comma, a little fat quarter bundle of Type, some Sketch and Crosshatch half yards, and some divine little scraps!
Another parcel waiting for me when I got home! Thanks @hellofromcat for goodies from #greataussiedestash xxx
Exhibit B. Some Amy, Heather and Aneela.  Oh and a cute card from Cat!
More happy mail!! #greataussiedestash
Exhibit C.  More divine Heather with a sprinkling of Anna Maria.
It would be VERY fair to say that I am more than ok with the data quota on my phone bill going a little over for January!  And it would also be fair to say I now have a new fabric collection happening......  Welcome Heather Ross.

So that's this week's incoming fabric.  I honestly cannot remember if I have any more parcels from the destash yet to arrive.  But I will say that I cleared out a bit myself!  So thank you to the lovelies who chose to purchase the fabric on my shelves that needed a new home!

Sunday Stash #14 - The one where I bought more fabric. Just like the other one.....

Happy Mother's Day!

I think we've established over the past 13 Sunday Stash posts that I do indeed have a slight problem addiction to purchasing fabric?  The shelves in my shoe box sewing room are literally heaving at the joins, I cannot see the small amount of floor that actually is in said room, and I've actually been sewing in the dining room, for I cannot create in said room due to claustrophobia!

So what did I do this week?  Well, I bought more fabric of course!

Pretty fabric delivery on my doorstep
Who am I to ignore Craft Depot's ridonculous May Sale???  $7.95 p/m - ok then!  Yes, I'm happy to be called an enabler.  I bought a few metres of the pretty red on the right to hopefully use as part of the backing on a future quilt using Notting Hill fabric.  Yes, thinking ahead!  The other prints are all just to add to that stash....
Ooh look what's arrived @quietplay @prettybobbins !
When I received the wholesale cushion order, I went ahead and applied for an account with a distributor overseas.  This is my first order.  I finally got the Architextures bundle I'd been coveting for too long.  And those cute dots.  The blue stack is for a friend - as are a bunch of the other goodies in this box, which include but are not limited to - Aurifil thread, quilting needles, gloves, cutting mats, thimbles etc etc.  The exciting part about this is that it has egged me on to possibly do what I have been contemplating for a few years now - open up a little on line store selling notions.  Good idea?

A close up for your viewing pleasure.
Special purchase #collaborateforacause2013
These beauties arrived on Friday!  A week beforehand, I received my regular email from The Intrepid Thread, and before I knew it, I'd messaged my Collaborate For A Cause partner, emailed Julie at The Thread, and had this half yard bundle sorted!  The plan is to now divide it in to FQ bundles, send one half off to my partner and use the other half for my part in our collaboration!  If you haven't heard of Collaborate for A Cause - go and check it out HERE.
Just found these in the mailbox! Thanks @lueluebella
And I also bought these beauties off Lara from Luellabella.  When I saw these in her destash I nearly fainted.  I've been collecting Wrenly prints ever since I realised I should have kept the scraps from my first ever clothing collection.  I'm determined to one day make a quilt from them!

And that's it friends.  I'm so glad I have you all to confess to on a weekly basis.  I know you will all be here to support me when I go bankrupt - and will very helpfully buy all my fabric off me when I need to buy food for my family!

Pin Cushion Swap

Something I never thought I would be a part of!  Considering I only really took up sewing again a year ago, I'm constantly amazed at how much I WANT to sew.....and how much I WANT to make new things!  And this last week, I have made my very first, and second, pin cushion!

Lovely little flower from Penilla's Journey!

I wasn't entirely happy with my first attempt - only because I think I should have used more contrasting fabrics.  And then I remembered I had a gorgeous off-cut of the green elephants! So this is what
came of that:

I'm so pleased I got another yard of this yummy fabric, it's patiently waiting for me to make Ms Chloe a Summer frock!
I have contributed the lovely elephant cushion to a pin cushion swap going on over at Oopsidaisi!  There are so many A-mazing pin cushions - some people are so damn talented!  Anywho....today whilst I was at Spotlight.....I accidentally bought some pretty felt!  Have never used it before, so I'm ready to get creative, and make myself something lurvely!

And just on a side-note......look what arrived at my house today:

This is how the lovely Jewel send her parcels - so pretty!

And this is my new stash ready for more pretty girl goodness!
That's it for tonight - off to bed!
