Reminds me of what I'm not

Can you adhere to the conventions of common courtesy even though it can be sometimes superficial?
This is a dilemma that I'm having to deal with every day. I didn't imagine being an adult; or living in a world full of adults would be such demanding and weighs over the shoulders.

Our field of banking, requires you to be on the top levels of civility with: good manners here, respect there, and an abundance of courtesy *gasps* i call it hypocrisy over there. No matter what people say or do or simply gesture you to be, you have to behave accordingly otherwise you'd be in a big trouble with your boss.

Fine *shrugs* i can be that, it's not like I'm reinforcing socialism because at the end of the day, i can go home and forget about X who came to deposit, Y who came to withdraw and Z who came to open an account.

But what about A my manager? B my supervisor? C, D, E, F, G my co-workers? working from day to night together puts us all in circle called semi-family where things usually tend to get personal to some extent.

How can you show some genuine courtesy if things got way too personal between you and A for example? You had a clash on Sunday, and by Monday you're on good terms just like good ol' times. Wouldn't that be called hypocrisy? Or It's just another --- kissing method to escalate both your vocational ladders?

Some times it makes you wonder whether A is genuinely a true person or a double-faced lying creep! Should you feel safe or shouldn't you? Should you guys talk about it or move on to the next clash where the story continues? Should you quit playing or play to be a pro?

Wouldn't that be devastating to humanity? to lie and play and put the mask of a completely different person just to adhere to common conventions of courtesy? How would you trust that person then? How would you know whether he's for real or not?

I've always wondered about it until my other manager (been transferred to another branch hopefully for a while) says: No body reaches this kind of status unless he's a lying hypocrite a-- kissing m-----r f----r (her exact words hehe razz)

True ain't it?

"Now we are free" Gladiator theme song

If you are a fan of the movie Gladiator then you would recognize this song. It's called Now We Are Free By Lisa Gerrard, and currently, i can seem to get enough of it. There's still a debate about the language used in the lyrics. Some say it goes back to the Medieval period, some say it's a mixture or Latin, Hebrew, Parisian, Spanish or simply no language in particular. But whatever the language is, it's still an amazing classical music. And the movie .....? Is a master piece.

December tidbits

So I'm back!
I'm really lacking the energy to write or say anything since i talk and write all day long, but i really miss my blog though, and i promise i won't leave it again my dear patient friend redface

Anyhoo, lot's of things have happened, turns out my life IS adventurous after all for i have always claimed it the opposite. Here are some tidbits since my last post:

I went to Dubai! For the first since the invasion back in the early 90s. And 3 words my friends; I'M DIGGING IT!
What a city, truly is amazing as people have always described it. The sad thing is however that we only stayed there for a night, it was strictly business. I didn't have the chance to tour the city except for the stupid Dragon Mart and Dubai Outlet Mall which wasn't interesting either.
But all in all, it deserves another extended visit.

I received my first ticket!
That *** wasn't man enough to let it go as most cops do (as i have heard from my friends). And not only that, he goes on saying that the window shades are against the law because they prevent police officers from seeing the driver talk on his mobile! *how lame* evil How did he spot me then!!!! It shows how dumb our police is.

My birthday was on Tuesday, I finally turned 22 smile
I'm still not feeling the difference, but somehow I'm feeling old and wrinkly!
And not to mention the fact that I'm regretting not doing something extraordinary in the past 21 years.
The day was also silent that i didn't feel it! I was so caught up with work and college i barely felt it was my birthday!
But since my co-workers and my family brought me cakes, I'm feeling ecstatic and overwhelmed.

I don't know why, but i keep getting this feeling that ever since i started my new job, something big is going to happen which would change my life. I don't know what it is, it should scare the hell out of me, but I'm looking forward to it! In fact, it's giving me the drive to be ambitious and optimistic. I'm really becoming good at what i do, thankfully, and I'm actually mastering it and became depended upon which is a good thing. Though it's hectic and tiresome, but i just can't seem to get enough of it.

TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal device

I was watching Good Morning America today, a show I'm always fond of by their constant interesting topics they that bring about. So they started talking about a new revolutionary device that's been introduced to the market recently. TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal system is a FDA approved device that uses the technique of laser for hair removal at home. It is cost and time effective and not to mention, you will have your own privacy at home!

This is what it provides:
  • No more constant shaving.
  • No more painful waxing.
  • No more inconvenient office appointments.
  • Lasting results with just one treatment every 4 weeks for 6-8 treatments.
  • Skin so smooth, it’s as if the hair was never there.
It also comes with a small sensor device that examines the tone of your skin whether it's appropriately light or dark, because, as they have mentioned, it is not to be used on "Individuals with dark skin tones, including lighter-skinned individuals who have recently tanned or used a self-tanner on their skin, African-American, East Indian, Native American, or Pacific Islander."

I have to tell you that i am really amazed at this achievement. It is no surprise that convenient, time and cost effective products emerge from the west. It is something I've always advocated.
Any how, i am definitely buying it. It costs $995 which is equal to 265.650 KD.

You can check out the review on GMA's website or go directly to TRIA Beauty for more information. Also, you can check out this video that sums up the whole thing:

Hotmails New Layout

Windows Live Hotmail has changed the mail interface to a slightly newer look. I think it's great, considering that interesting new themes are being implemented to it. But i think it's a little blurry, with the banner on the top and stuff, the theme isn't exactly clear.

Still Alive

Picture borrowed from Hitman1

Hello!
Back from the dead huh! Only in a Frankenstein female kinda version that's been struck by lightening to blog!
Anyhow .... It's been a busy month; work + college + work again which sucks major (---) but I'm still alive and kicking.
So this is a message just to let you know that I'm still here to whine and bash out your life ....
Now do i hear a round of applause for a monstrous comeback?

The question I've always feared to ask

Since i work, should i give away 3eediya?

KU Rocks!

As you can see my beloved friends, this was the time exactly my friend and i left the house to our beloved university to register. And by register, i mean, taking only a paper and leave. Simple, no? But when it comes to KU, simplicity has no definite meaning.
This is what happened that led to that stunt:

Students registration began on 17\9, and since our dear university is highly against student classification, merged us the graduates with the enrolled all in the same period. Pretty smart decision you know, to keep the fuzz and vibe going in clumsy Ramadan. Sorry, to pack us all like a can of sardines.

My friend and i were like: yeah, we should be there early, say like 8.30 am to avoid the crowd. Man we were so wrong mrgreen
The waiting line extended all the way to the street, and when we got inside they told us they ran out of numbers and that we should come back tomorrow.
A decent saint person would argue how would numbers finish? aren't they infinite?
Later on we discovered that they only gave out 40 numbers divided on 4 colleges. That's like 10 numbers for each college. 10 numbers = 10 students which equals 10 students for each college.
Did i mention that it was us the graduates and the enrolled? .......... yep i did.

We went again the following day, earlier at 7.30 am! and man the line keeps getting longer smile
And once the door opened, civilization and humanity vanished into the air. It basically became ya thabi7 ya mathbo7! Whoever said we're in the millennium is a lying hypocrite! Just because dinosaurs have extinct doesn't mean we're still not in the cave age!

To make long story short, we heard people saying that they come at dawn just to get numbers because they run out fast. And that's when we decided to get out of the house at 4.50 am. Luckily, i had my brother follow us all the way to the campus. Shakelna 9ar shubha! Banat bro7hom bel share3 5 alfayir sheno 3enduhom!!
But when you get out at such time and reach the university at 5.30 am you expect to be the first one to arrive! Hell, have the first numbers!
But this was what i ended up with, thankfully razz

25 is way better than 70, and yep you guessed it right. They increased the numbers to 70. Way to go KU, what a marvelous accomplishment. Finite numbers AND hand written. I really have to be proud exclaim
And just for the record, there weren't any screens displaying numbers. Security guards were shouting them mrgreen
And just for the record 2, all this hassle was for an application that could have been claimed at the graduates department.

I really, really ...... really can't go on with this other wise I'd burst of anger and irony.
So I'd like to say Kel 3am Wento B Khair Wa 3eedkom Mubarak. This is your 3eedeya, fresh and smelly from the Central Bank. Enjoy wink

It's a second Girl

I can't describe how happy i am. This is definitely what i needed these days.
Ladies and Gentlemen, i present to you, [unnamed yet] my second baby hamster mrgreen
I'm in love <3
She's so tiny i could squeeze 3 of her in my hand smile

She's still shy and doesn't come out much.
I don't know why i keep calling her a she! I'm not sure whether it's a she or he lol. But since it's cute then it's definitely a she ;p
Any name suggestions?

*Hides her from Mac's Diana*

Suspected Bruises

Has any one woken up before with bruises on their legs\arms with no apparent reason or recent injury?
This condition has been happening to me ever since i was a child. I wake up and suddenly find red or blue bruises on my legs or arms. They don't have to hurt sometimes though. I consulted many doctors about this matter and still do, but you know the typical answer you get here; it's normal.

It got me to the point where i believed that demons beat me at night since the condition is magically unexplained 'don't ask why LOL'

So i googled it, and those seem to be the medical explanation for it:
  • effects of medications or supplements — aspirin, anticoagulants (blood thinners), corticosteroids, and dietary supplements, such as fish oil, ginkgo, ginger, and garlic.
  • a bleeding or clotting disorder.
  • nutritional deficiencies of vitamins B12, C, K, or folic acid.
  • inflammation of a blood vessel(s).
  • liver disease.
  • sepsis — a widespread presence of infection-causing organisms or their toxins in the blood or tissues.
  • chronic inflammatory diseases, e.g., lupus.
  • certain cancers, including Hodgkin's disease, leukemia, or multiple myeloma.

The reason why i highlighted Liver Disease is because it's a genetic disease in my family. And though I've taken a vaccine against it, I'm beginning to be paranoid. Should i be worried?

3 Things i hate about my iMac

I've waited too long and tried not to publish this post, as to avoid shimata from PC users, also not to regret the money i spent on buying it. BUT, it really starts to get on my nerves.
So, Mac geeks, it's time to help your fellow Mac user out here, but please refrain from using geek terms and instructions because I'm still a dummy confused
  1. It lags ALOT! When i open any P2P application it just won't function smoothly. Clicking links became a pain in the --- because my iMac can't understand the fact that i actually clicked a link and wanted to be redirected to another page. It also lags when i use Photoshop, the program seems to be too heavy on my Mac that every option i use takes ages to load and apply on the project; pretty annoying when using such program because it has to be fast to be efficient.
  2. It disconnects regularly every 10 minutes when i open Vuze. Otherwise, it stays connected if i closed it. I can't download anything. The speed is great and pretty fast but it keeps on disconnecting ;\. I'm using the e-go service btw.
  3. Even when i use my Mac for non internet purposes, there's a slight a lag in the operating system.
So ...... help!

The good, the bad and the ugly

Update

I know i haven't been blogging regularly for some time now ... but seriously?? I'm acquiring a new aspect of how getting a life should be confused

Part of the person in me who wanted to stand out between my co-workers, wanted to volunteer to work in the morning as well (as a full time job) but not for free of course! In exchange for a three digit overtime allowance that is. A very good amount actually which overrides salaries of college people who work at the government sectors comparing to my part time job.

But! I wish i didn't, cheny 6e7t belsany confused

My timing wasn't particularly good since the ektitab was about to start.
And the doors to a hellish zoo broke loose, and squads of animals were unleashed.
And the area I'm working in isn't really helping either.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and therefore no matter how much i describe the situation, my words will not give it its justice. I think i might take a photo next week just to demonstrate how serious the situation is ;p

Seriously! People start lining up at the door from 7.30 am. But at 8 am ....? man it's a different story. A respected bank turns to Soug Alyim3a (Soug Alyima or Friday Market is a local vintage arena where people buy or sell stuff. It's basically where civilization ends).
And god be with those who work at the reception! All you can see is hands flying in the air and smothered faces trying to grab an application. Not just one, not just two, but a whole bunch of applications for the entire clan.

And the waiting list begins. 20, 30, 40, 50 customers waiting for their applications to be processed and we're only 4 at the counter sad
So you can imagine how miserable the situation gets. And 3 out of 10 customers require two minutes of work, the others however might need you to close the counter just to finish their pile of papers.

Wa t3aly fachichay eb 3ameel awraqa naq9a! Shekahle9na men lsana! Wella shayeb mo rathy yefham 3laik, wella obo bedashish nesayba '3a9b!

I'm telling you, it's painful and ugly.

And they say banks close at 1 pm? WRONG! At 1 pm, 20 customers are still waiting inside. Sheno ma 3endehom biot!! And if you are lucky enough, you won't come across a customer with 25 cheques wanting them to be cashed @@
Marra 9arat feny and i nearly cried. I wanted to go home so badly and that guy refused to leave even when i told him it's 1 pm already and it will take time to finish all those cheques! He said ma waray shay! Well ana waray shay you mofo!!

Bottom line, i don't have a life. I return home at 3, rest for an hour and leave again at 4.30 and then come home at 8 and immediately hit the bed and sleep.

I really wanna take a picture of this particular event, hope i don't get busted though.

Update: picture taken 15 minutes before opening time. They deserve some credit for standing in such humid weather smile

Just Ask service

Earlier this year, i posted about how some freight companies are acting dumb enough to prohibit just about any product i wanted to order from the US, all in the name of "security" which somehow, was amended after 9\11.

But being the stubborn i am, i kept looking around for any tiny service that might serve my urge for beauty cosmetics. And therefore, i present to you at last, my last attempt hopefully Just Ask by Sultan Center.
I emailed them and provided my shopping list from Bath & Body Works consisting of body lotions, shower gels and hand sanitizers. And within one day i received the following reply:

Dear Valued customer

Thank you for choosing Just Ask service
Kindly note that we have received your email and we will reply you soon with full quotation

Best regards

--- ------ -----
Just Ask Representative
Marketing Dep.

And this is the reason #1 why i liked it. They didn't keep me waiting and their prompt reply let me know that they saw my email and waiting to process my request.

The next day, a representative from Just Ask service called me to verify my order. However, he informed me that hand sanitizers cannot be ordered because they contain alcoholic substances. As for the rest of the products, they were approved and waiting for my consent to be ordered online. He also told me that they will not charge me the money until my shipment fully arrives. As for any extra charges they take, i didn't ask about it and i don't think they would charge a lot in case they did.

And this is the reason #2 why i loved it.

Ya hear Aramex? You just got owned mrgreen

But i didn't go through with the order, i told him to cancel it. My main concern was to have the hand sanitizers. But i might try them though to order the lotions and shower gels, the brand is amazing and one of the best in the business.

Reporting from iMac OS X

I'll go by formalities, I still don't know what the X really stands for mrgreen
So ........ Tattah!
This was what I've been cooking for for the past year and a half! After blood, sweat and tears, i finally managed to place my hands on the amazing iMac, and after spamming Mac's inbox too of course.

My first impression ..?
Well, it was too heavy, I'm glad i didn't buy it online otherwise the shipping costs would have cost me a fortune.
And the moment i got it out of the box, i was wowed by it. The screen, the keyboard, the mouse and the remote were just uhh ....... so astonishingly amazing. I couldn't resist the temptation of keeping the plastic cover on, so as not to risk staining the spotless silvery interface.

The operating system is neat and user friendly, except for the different command names and applications that are used in PCs. I'm still not used to it, but I'm surviving.

The only things however that let me down first, is the incompatibility of some of the essential programs that i used in PC such as VerbAce and Gold Wave on Mac. Especially VerbAce, it was comprehensive and efficient enough to help me through my researches and i don't think i will find a better alternative sad

The second downside is the stupid not-so-mighty-mouse. Who's the idiot who proposed the idea of holding the trackpad button + pressing ctrl to have a right-click drop down menu! It was painful for my wrist!

And what else ......
Oh! I'm loving Front Row and Photo Booth, now that's what i call genius entertaining razz

So, PC! You will be missed my friend. Farewell http://www.q8speed.com/forum/images/smilies/bg/hiya.gif
