Hardware Ranch

Kristi (Brian's sister) was in town with here boys for the holiday and we took a drive up to Hardware Ranch to see the elk. It was great fun. I love nature and the boys thought it was AWESOME!
Look at the size of that rack - They say that the larger bulls come into the meadow last. We are hoping to go back up there the end of January or beginning of February to see if that is true. There were about 200 elk there and that is about a third of what they normally see.

Christmas wonder

Every night when we get home and the lights are on on the tree Kristian runs over and lays under the tree and wants us all to come lay by him. He says it is warm there. It is so cute and fun. I love the look in his eyes - the picture just does not do it justice.

Tagged - UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH

RULES

1. List these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here goes -

1. I am a Chiefs fan - I love to go to a live game and have more fun than my husband. People even turn around and look to see who is yelling so loud! GO CHIEFS

2. I am one of those annoying parents that only talk about their kids - I just can't help it - I am just so proud of him.

3. I hate to clean the bathroom - HATE HATE HATE it. Kristian would tell me that we don't say hate but nothing else covers it. I HATE IT!

4. I am a little controlling - I love to be in charge.

5. I would love to learn the art of photography!

6. I don't like wearing shoes. The easier they are to get off the better and in the summer I don't like socks either. (I only wear them in the winter by default - I get sick otherwise)

7. Aren't you bored yet? I like to read a good book.

I am not sure I know seven people let alone seven people to tag but here goes. Kallie, Tammy, Tiff, Mindi, Becky, AnnMarie, and Amy. There you go - you are all tagged! Ha Ha Ha

Christmas Brunch

So it was our 20th annual Christmas get together for my friends from high school. I did say 20th. We started the year before we got out of school so I have not been out of school that long. (whew, thought I was old for a min) Left to right would be Becky, Leicha, Amy, Kara and me. We started out with 8 of us I think and the numbers vary each year. At first we exchanged gifts and had dinner at someones house but that got to be too much work. Now we just meet for dinner, though this year it was brunch. It is always good to get together and share our lives from the past year.

New Torture Machine

So Grandpa got himself a new torture machine. It is really a inversion table that tips you upside down to relieve the pressure in your back. Kristian was so funny when Brian got on it the other night. He sat by Brian's head and held on to his sweater and kept saying 'I will stay right here dad, it's okay, I won't leave you'. Then when Brian got off I made a comment that it must work because he looked taller. Having heard that Kristian decided that he wanted a try. He told me he was very scared but he was big and would try it. Here he is hanging upside down getting taller.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my family and friends! This is the tree Kristian picked out. He said that he wanted a little one and the first ones that he picked out were no taller than he is. But in the end, this was the perfect one! It is hard to see the ornaments, but they are all silver. I really like it, but I always like our Christmas tree. I love this time of year!
Sorry this picture has only me and Kristian, the one of the whole family did not turn out.

Potty Train!

It seems we are on our way to being potty trained! YEA! Kristian wanted to ride the train, and so after 5 successful potty trips we went on a train ride. He loved it. I have to tell you that getting to this point his mom about lost it. I had a break down just the day before because I was not sure that he was ever going to get it and I was just not teaching him right and therefore I a was causing undue stress in the life of my kid. He was SO sad when he got his pants wet but he insisted on wearing underwear. But every since I had my breakdown he has not had an accident! (and he didn't even see my breakdown). I am so proud of him! I was taking pictures with my phone and told him to smile. When he saw this picture with his tongue out he thought he was so funny. Way to go Kristian!

Welcome Santa

So Santa is officially in town! They had a parade the other night and I helped a friend with a float for the Boys and Girls club. It was great fun. Kristian came to the parade with Grandpa and Grandma Gifford. I think that Kristian had more fun trading hats with Grandpa then he did watching the parade!

New bear

They just keep getting better! Does anyone know how much I could sell these for? This one is for a Christmas present so don't tell! I just was thinking that I want a Wii for Christmas and I need a way to pay for it. What would you pay for one?

Girls night at Twlight

We went to the midnight showing of Twlight down at the Gateway. Before the show we went out to dinner at Applebee's. It was crazy busy with tons of would be Twlight viewers. We saw very interesting shirts as well. The only one I saw that I wanted said 'Sorry Edward, I am taken'
The girls starting at the left: Jen, Shannon, Christiann, Me, Camille and in the back are the Megans (though they are spelled different) We laughed at this picture because it looks like they were at the table behind us and just turned around to be in the picture. After ice cream and appetizers we got in line for popcorn and drinks. I am always good for more food! The movie was good too!

Best mommie moment

We were on our way home from Grandma's the other day and Kristian and I were singing in the car. This is something that we do all the time, Kristian gets to pick the songs we sing and we sing for all we are worth. Well on this day the sun was in Kristian's eyes and so he decided that he wanted to sing You Are My Sunshine. We sang it a couple of time and then he decided that he wanted to sing it by him self. This is how his version went.
'You are my sunshine, my Mommie sunshine. You make me happy when the skies are grayed. You'll never know Mommie how much I love you, please don't take my Mommie away'
I of course am having a hard time driving at this point. What ,with the tears in my eyes and a cheesy grin on my face. Moments like that take my breath away. I truly love being a mom!

The big reveal

Are you ready? Here she is!

Her name is Li'l Billie.

My grandpa that built the cabin used to call my grandma and my mom Li'l Billie. This is our tribute to those most amazing women in my life. I have included a picture of Li'l Billie and Echo Gillett together so that you can see that I did in fact carve a bear and not just post Brian's bear twice. On the bottom of the bears we have put that they were cut from the site of Grandpa Gillett's cabin and then the date that they were carved. I hope they will be in our family for a long time to come.

Slacker

I am a complete slacker! I can not believe that it has been 2 weeks since I posted anything and I still have nothing interesting to post. I did get MY bear done and finished sealing her last night so I will try and get a picture today and post it later. I am just an incredible boring person. Sorry to those of you that have to know me!

Halloween

Sorry the picture is a little blurry but they were running. This is Kristian and Ivy trick or treating. Yea I did say trick or treating! You may or may not know that as of 2 days before Halloween, Kristian was NOT going trick or treating, he was not dressing up, and he did not like candy.
So the story starts. . . . Kristian has decided that he is going to be a Blue Man for Halloween. One of the guys from the Blue Man Group. I understand that this is a adult music group, but Kristian does not. He loves them and there was no talking him out of being a Blue Man. (If you do not know who they are, you had better google them so that you understand the costume) I got a couple bald caps and some face paint. A couple days before Halloween I put the cap on him to see what I was going to have to do to make it work. I guess that kinda freaked him out, because from then on he was not going to dress up. He said that he just wanted to be 'nothing'. I took him to my moms school for the parade so he could see other kids dressed up and he thought that they were cool but he was still not interested. In fact them more people that asked him about it, and everyone did, the more he was not going. So when he got up from his nap on Friday I put him in his football jersey and we headed to my parents. My brother David came over with his kids to see if Kristian had changed his mind and he told them that he was still not going. The kids decided to start across the street and Kristian and I sat on the porch to watch them. They had just got across the street when he yelled 'hey wait guys, I'm coming too!'. He had a ton of fun and loved it. He even made sure that he got plenty of thank yous in. All in all we had fun, but I was not sure we were going to make it this year.

Photo TAG

Thought this was fun....The rules are that you have to go to My Pictures on your computer, select the 4Th folder and then the 4Th picture and post it with a brief description....

This is while we were in Florida last November. This is Kira and Kristian watching some cartoons in the morning before anyone else got going. We loved our stay in Florida. My uncle had a condo that he was at by himself and he invited us to visit. We took Kristian to the zoo and he loved it. We played on the beach and watched the dolphins swim from outside the balcony. We also watched a launch of a satellite from the balcony. It was a great trip.

This was a fun tag - it brought up fun memories.

Now it is your turn. If you read this you have to play

Tag you are it.

Kristian got an owwie

I know he does not look too upset in this picture, but he was when it happened. We had just finished lunch and he got down and was trying to kick his dog. Yes I said kick his dog. That is what he does for fun lately. So he was trying to kick KC and he lost his footing. That is what I am guessing anyway as I only heard it. He kicked and down he went, face first into the shoe rack that we have by the door. There was not a lot of blood but his nose sure looked flat. I got an ice pack and sat on the floor with him trying to calm him down and I asked him what happened. He said, while crying, 'I was trying to kick KC and she moved'. Moral of this - don't kick the dog. While it does not appear to be broken it does look like it will hurt for a while. I am hoping that it does not get too black and that I don't get turned in for child abuse.

Echo Gillett the bear

Well we went to the cabin again (SURPRISE) and had a great time. There was enough snow to make it muddy but not enough to cover the ground everywhere. We had to park up on the road and carry everything down (and up). I spent most of the time tyring to sleep as I have a yucky cold but Brian spent his time making a bear. There are a number of trees that need to be cut down and Brian thinks that we should make bears out of them rather than just plain boring fire wood. So we took the chain saw and tried our first one. Dad read the directions while Brian cut. I think that he did amazing for his first bear. Keep in mind it was with a big gas chain saw that is very heavy. We named him Echo Gillett - Kristian came up Echo (he has a stuffed bear with the same name) and Gillett is my Great Grandpa's name (the one that built the cabin).

Snow in October

We woke up to snow! Kristian was very excited. He didn't even argue about going to church because that meant that we got to go out in the snow. I guess that I had better get used to the cold because I am afraid that we will still be spending alot of time out side this winter. After church we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Bingham's and Daddy and Kristian wanted to build a snowman. Brian has never been one to do things in moderation, so this is the out come.
Kristian had lots of fun. He just ran around in circles in the snow. He had is shovel that he used as a spoon. He is such a cheeser when it comes to the camera. He makes my heart swell!

Twilight

I loved these books! If you loved them as much as I did, take the test and find out who you are! I am looking forward to the movie, this will be one that I will see in the theater.
I have a friend that has a friend that has rented a theater for opening night. If you are intrested in going with us let me know and I will see if I can get you tickets!

Alzheimer's walk

We had the Alzheimer's walk this morning! Mom, Camille, Brian, Kristian and I all walked. Thanks to those that donated money. This is really a cause that I believe in. Rumor has it that they are close to having a drug that all but reverses this crippling disease. We are looking into getting the information so we can be in the test groups. This is the group walking! (I walked also just can't take the picture and be in them also.)

Roof on the Cabin

We went to the cabin this weekend and put a new roof on. It was amazing how fast it went. I was a bit worried that it would take a few weekends as we did not know how much help we would get. But as it turned out it only took about 5 hours! It looks awesome!

With the roof getting done as quickly as it did we had plenty of time to enjoy the cabin. I even got a nap! We went to dinner at the steak house in Elba. Great steak, long drive. It is about 30 miles from the cabin and takes about an hour to get there, but worth is for a good steak. We don't make it every time but the waitress remembers us. Of course we never make it down there in the winter as it is not worth the hike down the mountain and we would never be able to hike back in after eating all that meat.

Grandma Rose came up with us this time and so did Eli (cousin) and his boys. (Jordie and Jaxon) The grandmas took the boys on a ride in the mule. 2 Grandmas, 3 Boys and 5 dogs.

Cousins in town

Kristopher and Francisco were in town this weekend and Kristian had a ton of fun playing with them. I love when they come down. The went to the duck pond with Brian (I was working) and then we took them fishing at the fish farm. Makenna went fishing with us. She was the best fisher of the bunch. Of course I forgot to take the camera with us and just had my phone and my new phone does not take as good of pictures as my old one did so none of them turned out. I did snap a few shots of the boys playing at grandma Bingham's house and this is my favorite. Kristian and Kristopher (Fopher) playing the piano.

Busy Weekend

We got to go to the cabin this last weekend - My favorite place in the world! We had a great time. David(brother) and Mindi and the kids came. Camille (sister) and Kira rode up with us and we met mom and dad there. The kids got to ride in Grandpa's Mule! He and grandma have sure had fun on it. We went down to the lake and let the kids have the time of their life throwing rocks into the water. What a great family I have, love spending time with them.

I also found out that I am not 18 any more. SURPRISE We have this great zip line for the kids to play on. Because it is for the kids to play on it is lower to the ground. So if bigger people (like me) want to use it, they have to climb up on top of a big log and try to stand in the zip line. David did it (and he is not 18) so I thought that I could. According to witnesses - I fell, bounced and landed with a big thud. I am not sure all the places I hit, just know that I hurt all over. Somewhere in the event I shredded the underside of my big toe. Brian and Dad had to clean it out with tweezers and alcohol wipes. FYI - that hurts
We then got to go to Grandma Thurston's new house on Sunday and have dinner with her. The home she lives in had a Grandparents Day BBQ. It was nice to see her. They had someone there giving the kids rides in a wagon being pulled by miniature ponies. (waiting to get pictures from someone else, will post them when I get them)

New Driveway!

We got a new drive way this weekend - YEA! Kristian loved having the tractor there. From the minute they got there we were sitting on the step wide eyed. He did think that it got really loud when they were tearing up the concrete. But the big tractor was WAY cool. Jared (our friend that did the driveway) even let him drive the tractor!

Notice how cute the tounge is. He is hard at work. He was very excited when he moved the levers that it really moved the tractor. The next morning we had the concrete delivered at 6am and we were up bright and early to watch. I am sure many of our neighbors were us also, as it was very loud. The beep beep beep of the reverse works well as an alarm. Of course I did not have the camera out for those pictures as it was VERY early and I don't do mornings very well. I am very excited to be able to drive on it on friday. It has been needed for a very long time!

Can it be almost Christmas?

Kristian is getting SO big and smart! He wants real drums. (suprise) The other day he asked for some and I said that he would have to wait until Christmas. He said to me and I quote 'guess I am going to have to talk to Santa Claus bout that'. Where does he get it? So it sounds like he will get drums, sounds like is really not the right word as we have alreay bought them. How fun does that sound? I am very excited, maybe I will have to get Brian a set of his own so they can play together!

Alzheimer's

As some of you know I have taken up the hobby of running. (thanks Teri) I am not really good at it but it makes me feel better. In that spirit, I have set up a team to partipicate in the Memory Walk 2008. It is an oppertunity to raise money and awarness for Alzheimer's. Grandma Thurston is suffering from this cripping disease and I have seen how it has affected her whole family. I would like to do all I can to prevent it from affecting any more of us. If you are intrested please visit the web site and see what you can do to help. On the left hand side of my blog there is a link to Memory Walk 2008. You can go there and join our team if you would like to walk with us. Our team name is Wilma's Walkers. Or you can just donate to help fund the research needed to find a cure. To do that select find a walker and search for my name, that way your donation will be linked with our team. Thanks for any help you can give!

Smart smart smart

My kid can read!! Last night while I was working Brian came in the office to tell me that Kristian read his first word. We have letter magnats on the fridge (doesn't every home that has a child) and Kristian had gone in the kitchen to pout. He was mad at his dad (hey, it happens). Brian heard him say 'ssss aaaa ddd - sad'. On the fridge the letters were together and on his favorite movie (Talking Word Factory) that is how they show them to read. Say the first sound, then then second, then the last. Then say them faster. So he did. SSS AAA DDD - sad. I am so proud of him. He loves the alphabet. All day long he is telling me what letters say what sounds. It is fun to see him put them together on his own.

Lake Powell

So began our Lake Powell vacation. Forgive me if I share too many pictures, it was hard to pick my favorites.

We, along with my parents and sister, rented a house boat in Lake Powell for our vacation this year. What a wise decision. Kristian loved being on the 'big boat' as he called it. It is one of my favorite places on earth. Looking at these rocks is it really that hard to understand why? Notice the rocks that have recently fallen. This picture was taken while looking across the canyon from where we were anchored. We found a place that never was in direct sunlight. For those of you that have been there, you know that is a feat. We had to rig up a pulley system for out raft to be able to go out to the sun once in a while. And even there we only had sun from about 10am to 2pm. But it sure helped with the heat. We ran out of ice on the third or fourth day so it was nice to be out of the sun.

Before we left we purchased a Ocean Kayak that was a ton of fun. Kristian calls it 'mine red boat'. We had fun paddling around the canyon. Kristian did not like to sit right in front of Brian because he kept getting his head bumped. He even tried to paddle a few times. It was much more fun to just let dad do all the work though (I agree). My parents even tried it and liked it. Though it is a work out for the upper body. It is a good thing that it is so wide because if you tip it, it is VERY hard to get back in. (for us fat people)

This has to be one of my favorite pictures of my boys.

Kristian loved climbing around on the rocks and especially throwing them. We would have to fill a box of rocks for him to take back on the boat so he could throw them off the back. If we stayed on the rocks too long he would run out of rocks to throw. It was hard to keep up with him. I think that we all took advantage of when he took a nap so that we could recoup. He was great entertainment for us all.

While we were there, Kristian learned to swim. At first he was not sure about the water. He loves the water but has only been in water that no deeper than bath water. This was the first exposure to deep water. He held on to my life jacket so tight the first couple times we got in, but eventually we were able to get him to swim from me to Brian. Once he realized that he could get around on his own, it was hard to reign him in. It was just a matter of finding the right thing to bribe him with. Jumping off the rocks was the thing that worked. I could not believe how little fear he has. Complete trust in his parents. He did not want to stop. He just kept saying 'again, again', and of couse I would let him go again. I have it on video but am not sure I can figure out how to put it on here. I will try. When we were all done jumping he swam all the way from the rock back over to the boat (15feet or more) and then wanted to jump off the side of the boat as well.

He loved riding on the house boat. After driving the boat with Grandma he wanted to sit in the front just like everyone else was. It was just so hard to keep his eyes open when he was so relaxed. This is my idea of a vacation. If I get my way we will be back every year.

Bingham Cousins

These are Kristian's cousins on the Bingham side of the family. What a mix! Makenna, Kristopher (Fopher), Francisco (Cisco) and Kristian. The boys live in Boise and were down visiting grandma for the week. We got to spend some great time with them. This day we went to Dinosaur Park and I forgot my camera (suprise). These pictures were taken with my cell phone again. They turned out so good. I love that Kristian likes his cousins and can get to know them often.

Parade

South Ogden Days were the week of the 23rd. Aunt Teri talked us in to going to the Parade at the end of the week. Kristian waved at everything that went by. The fire trucks sprayed water at us and he was not sure that he liked that too much, but he loved the candy.

Aunt Teri also talked me into running a 5k with her on the 24th. CRAZY AUNT TERI. I was proud of myself though. I was not the last one to finish, in fact I was not even the last one in my age group to finish. Francisco beat me by 5 mins. Stinks that I can not keep up with a 10 year old.

Hanging at the Zoo

Kristian loves the ZOO! We met Kallie and Micaela, Kerry and Jack, and took Mindi, Austin, Erin and Ivy. What great fun. Kristian never seems to get bored of the animals. The picture above is of Micaela, Kristian and Jack watching the new carousel. I always think that Kristian has curly hair until I get him around Jack. This is a picture from my cell phone. I never remember to take my camera, now I wonder why I have one when all I really need is my phone.

This is Ivy, Austin, Erin and Kristian by the Zebra's.

Working from home

I love working from home - just tonight I was watching Brian and Kristian playing in the pool. Brian sitting in the pool and Kristian throwing water on him. With the window open I could even here the giggles. It does my heart good.

Father's Day

I love the men (and boys) in my life! We spent the day with Grandpa Gifford for Father's Day. We even had Grandpa's favorite food. Chinese! The whole family was there! I love get togethers', mostly because I have the best family around and they are great fun. I love watching Kristian interact with them all and then talk about it on the way home. I love that he knows them all. Thanks to all my family for being so GREAT! Even bigger thanks to Brian for being a wonderful Father to Kristian!

updates

I am bad at taking pictures so I don't have any to post with this. SORRY

We took Kristian, Grandma and Grandpa Gifford, and Grandma Randall to the aquarium in SLC. Kristian loves animals. He would not touch the stingrays bu the star fish were okay. Then we took Brian down to Cabela's. Another one of Kristian's favorite places. It was a great day.

San Rafael Swell

We took Kristian to San Rafael Swell for a day trip. It was a 13 hour day and he did great. He loved the rocks and sand and sun. Grandpa Gifford went with us and we met some of his friends there. We drove down 3 hours to southern Utah and then took a 100 mile loop around the Swell to see the petrogylphs. At one stop we had to hike over half a mile to get to the petrogylphs and Kristian lead the whole group. We had a wonderful time. Kristian is sure our outdoors men. He seems to get us out all the time to see something new. Thanks DUDE

Birthday

We took Kristian to Dinosaur Park for his birthday. He loves that place. He never seems to get bored, no matter how often we go. This was the first time that his dad had been so Kristian had fun showing Dad around. Now each time I say 'lets go to the park' he says 'Dinosaur park will be fun'. He is amazing to me!

Kristian

This is Kristian - Our little Dude. He is as full of attitude as this picture would indicated. He is TWO. I don't know went that went and happened to me but I love it. It seemed like when I figured out 1, he went and turned 2. I guess that is how the games goes, always one step ahead of us. He is the light of our lives. He never fails to make us smile. I am truly grateful to be his mom.

Here Goes

Well Hello everyone -
you have all finally talked me into this - so here goes!!!!!!!
