the last couple of weeks have been trying..especially with me learning how to SURVIVE without a laptop. our lives are so interlinked with technology these days that it's quite scary how a technological problem can render us helpless. and i do mean COMPLETELY HELPLESS.
but i have done it. i survived writing reports and take home exams without my laptop. but of cos i relied on the computer labs in sch so much so i literally lived there for a couple of days. so i still do need a computer afterall.
so updates on life over the past couple of weeks..

28 April
dinner for all 4th yrs and exchange kids at the IRC at prof brown's hse followed by farewell party with the singaporeans from SSA @ x-lounge. it's amazing what a bit of booze can do to some people. total photo-whoring and posing for the camera. some sketchy pictures and many hilarious ones. if u guys have me on facebook, go check out the albums.
a few of us went by the gay club afterwards (cos CHO has no real clubs, only the gay club opens after 2am) well, we reached real early at 12 and surprise/horror, it was almost completely empty. i mean, i totally did not feel like getting on the dance floor, especially not when it's EMPTY. geez... crowd started to pile in ard 1 or so, but still you cant really compare the atmosphere with those in singapore. and since it's a GAY club afterall, there was definitely some "action" happening on the dance floor. i shall not go into the details.
me thinks the UVA kids seem to enjoy it more than us exchange kids. but anyhow we hung out a while, danced a bit, drank a bit, and left pretty much ard 3.
something annoyed me during the night though. there was this guy, let's call him A, who kinda pissed me off cos he kept asking me to take photos of him with other pple. i mean, i too want to take my own photos, but he was hogging my cam like nobody's biz. and not like im even close to the joker. and i dont even like him much. den later at the club, he juz free-loaded off everyone else's drinks after he finished his. and if that's not enuff, he tried forcing people to drink from a bottle that belonged to someone else in the grp. what as ass. BH lost his temper at one point cos he was being a total pain. sigh. young, foolish kid who is probably too immature to handle himself.
ok maybe i feel too grown up here in CHO. afterall, the people here are all much younger than we are. a 4th yr is at least 1 yr younger than i am, and a few yrs younger than our singaporean guys. only "feel-good" factor is that they look much older than we do. ha. must be the weather. =P so anyhow, what im getting is that they really love to drink and get drunk. all the time. whenever they get the chance to. perhaps cos booze is significantly cheaper here, and also cos it's a culture thing. parties at frat houses are a norm and a regularity. but i guess i shdnt judge. cos we're different anyhow.

i've been playing quite a bit of poker and hanging out at LKY's hse. that's cos it's study period here at the dorms and we cant make much noise. and also there's a lack of entertainment facilities here. so LKY's place is comfy, roomy for a few peeps, and a great place to have cookouts (ok, mainly he's cooking) and watch tv (he has a gazillion channels on cable) and play poker. have been on a decently lucky streak, and not losing money as yet. maybe i shdn say more in case i jinx myself.
hanging out with LKY, en, KK, Rob, BH is fun. everyone's having a good time and we really enjoy each other's company. am so gonna miss the times we have together, EATING most of e time, joking, rotting in front of the tele, and our poker nights... lately it's juz been 4 of us cos kk flew off on a weekend holiday and rob is too busy studying. aiyoh...that uncle...duno why he study so much..we're on EXCHANGE! but oh well..
on a side note, i think LKY and EN have a certain chemistry together. and i think they are so compatible together. it's like he gives in to her whims and she will accommodate him when he has a crazy idea about a cookout or whatever. they understand each other pretty well too. damn adorable couple they would make. but unfortunately LKY is currently attached (but i seriously doubt it would work out with that girl anyway) and they both seem to be juz great friends. pity.
compared to another couple i know here... (this is so gossipy) the girl ditched her bf and hooked up with this other guy here... i mean anyone with eyes could tell that she was so completely cheating on him, getting physically intimate with the guy here even before they broke up. sigh. and she's going on a holiday with her ex after the term cos they already made the bookings already. i mean how WEIRD is that. wouldnt it be awkward!
it's quite weird that both pairs that i speak of are similar but i seem to be standing on different sides. but let me defend my stand. the first one is purely great chemistry within friends, and they are not cheating and there's no physical hanky-panky going on. whereas the 2nd is (to me anyway) obviously sexual attraction there and the poor guy who got dumped didn even know what hit him.
ok im once again being judgmental. but it's juz me expressing my opinion abt the stuff i see going on ard here...
