ALBERT EINSTEIN'S RIDDLE
Are you in the top 2% of intelligent people in the world? Solve the riddle to find out.

There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don't give up.

1. In a street there are five houses, painted five different colours.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

Hints:
1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

Albert Einstien wrote this riddle early during the 19th century. He said that 98% of the world population would not be able to solve it.

So i tried it out and i did!!! Yay!!! I'm part of that 2% of intelligent people in the world!!! *gloats* =P

time to update my blog again with all my wkend trips

wkend mar 23 - 25: stayed at UVA

as the boys headed out to philly, i stayed back at UVA. yes, one of those rare wkends i didnt go anywhere...and it was definitely a new feeling, not the not-going-anywhere part, but like being alone for once, w/o BH and the guys...well ok, i wasnt really alone cos there are still pple i know here in UVA, but the feeling was different. to a certain extent, i really relished the thought...it's a kind of independence that i wanted to experience.

let's see..i went shopping at fashion square...probably the only real mall here in CHO...but technically u cant compare it with any of those malls we have in SG...nonetheless, it was fun cos i was shopping with li and i bought 3 pieces of clothing from wetseal and a pair of shoes from payless... *grinz* so it was definitely what i consider a fulfilling trip! thanks to LK who took us out for lunch and dinner and for fetching us back afterward...so sweet of him... =)

saturday was spent doing proj and watching the pursuit of happyness. i thought it was a good show, but ultimately depressing too. it made me feel kinda helpless and also useless in a certain way, and i really admired how will smith's character kept going on despite the odds. his son was such a sweetie too... later lky, en and i went out for supper at this place called mas. it was like part pub, part restaurant. really nice ambience and yummy tapas!! =P great place for chilling although we had to wait REALLY LONG for a table...

i refused to wake up early on sun to go for breakfast with the others, cos i was super duper sleep deprived over the whole week and i totally felt myself falling ill. cant quite remember how i spent my day...was it juz sleeping in and rotting away? highly likely...haha...

overall, i'd say i enjoyed my wkend, though it wasn as "exciting" as going to philly, seeing upenn and all. it gave me the opportunity to be alone, experience time away from BH, which i think is really important to me. i kinda miss my personal space. it's hard being alone when we all live in the same building. so i took the opportunity to "recharge".

weekend 30 mar - 1 apr: williamsburg

5 of us travelled to williamsburg, just 2++ hrs southeast of charlottesville. there, we visited yorktown, colonial williamsburg and jamestown. it was a whole historical package thing. i dont think of myself as a person who enjoys history, but this was a pretty interesting trip to see how the last battle was fought during the american revolution years ago.

at yorktown, we had a scrumptious lunch at the carrot tree restaurant. no...we didnt exactly eat carrot dishes...instead, i had some crab wrap that was really yummy!! we visited the yorktown victory center where they re-created a continental army encampment and a farm with costumed actors to tell us about life at that time. we also went to tour the battlefield where the last battles were fought during the american revolution, and also got to play around at the battlesites and all...in the evening, we headed to the best chinese buffet here in virginia ever... with mongolian bbq, sushi, frog legs, crayfish, noodles, various chinese dishes, icecream and all.. it was really one of the best meals i ever had since coming to usa. YUM!!

day two was spent at colonial williamsburg, which is the "largest living history museum encompassing...buildings, homes, stores and taverns reconstructed and restored to their 18th-century appearances" there were also costumed actors who gave tours of buildings, spoke of the different trades and crafts that people of the 18th century engaged in, as well as a show with audience interaction and all....really quite informative and unique to see pple walking around in 18th century clothing all over the town.

on our last day, we went to historic jamestown, where there are old ruins of buildings that the first settlers built. we also learnt about the REAL STORY behind pocahontas and john smith. next, we headed to jamestown settlement, which had a whole indoor museum depicting the lives of the first english settlers and their r/s with the native indian tribes people. outside, there were 3 ships, which were supposed to replicate the ships that the settlers used to sail from england to virginia in 1607. the interiors were really facinating and cool. amazing that so many fit into a ship so small. we also toured around at the indian village that was recreated and had loads of fun playing with the games and stuff of that time.

wish i had photos to show u guys all these wonderful places, but my photos are all in that horrible laptop which is down.. =( boo hoo...

on the way back, i had my very first KFC buffet! yes KFC here has a buffet, and boy did the guys EAT! it was pure madness gorging on the chicken, salads, drinks and dessert....haha..and of cos incredibly fattening! and all for only 7 bucks!!! geez, is there any wonder why americans are obese?

weekend 6 apr: shenandoah valley

we had just a day trip to shenandoah valley. here i came face to face with a deer along the middle of the road, as we headed up the skyline drive to get a view of the valley below. unfortunately, due to the freaky cold weather, and time constraints, we didnt get to travel all the way to the top, or the view would have been even better. no matter, from where we stopped, i could really see acres of green land on one side and built up areas on the other. what a contrast.

after lunch we set off to see the natural bridge. it was said that GW carved his name on the side of the bridge when he first came across it on one of his travels. jefferson then bought the bridge for only a few pounds, cos he fell in love with it. he even built log cabins near it so that he could stay there as and when he liked. as we hiked the cedar creek trail, we also got to see the saltpeter cave, the lost river and lace falls. well lace falls is supposed to be a waterfall, but we were kinda disappointed by it. it was too low to be an impressive fall, and the water was not strong enough to give it that extra oomph of "power". in between we visited the caverns nearby, which contained amazing water-created structures beneath ground.

wkend 14 apr: stayed in cho for work =(

wkend 21 apr: king's dominion

a whole day at king's dominion theme park, fully paid for by the IRC. =) so nice to have the entry free sponsored, with lunch thrown in as well. hehe...

in terms of number and type of rides, king's definitely beats disney and universal hands down. the place has such intense, wild rides which really gives u maximum enjoyment if u're a thrill-seeker. not for the fainthearted man! one thing though, the seats arent all that comfortable, cos it gets a little painful when you get thrown around in ur seat during the twists and turns. think i sprained my neck on the last ride. now i cant really turn left...geez....hope i get better over the next few days....

anyway, if u're interested, go check out their webpage: http://www2.cedarfair.com/kingsdominion/

ok....well, that marks the end of my wkend travel exploits, cos in the next couple of wkends i wont be travel anymore as work beckons....haha...afterall, im here supposedly to study...cannot be a 100% freeloader and dont do any of my projects and dont study for exams right? even if greade dont count, it's pride that keeps me from allowing myself to get Cs on my transcript.

while i look forward to my summer holiday 3 weeks from now, i kinda wish this exchange at UVA wouldnt end so soon. its been fun slacking and holidaying and attending classes without having to worry about how high i'd score on the exam. also, the whole experience of living away from my parents and being totally (well, almost totally) independent is so rewarding. =)

till my next update....
