I couldn't help but laugh!

It was always my good intention to use nothing but cloth diapers on Goose.  But I let the lazy side of me win.  Now with the renewed spirit and motivation from my sister expecting in October and her decision to cloth diaper too I decided to give it another go.  I caught a super sale at cotton babies website for the all in one and one size fits all (through adjusting sizes with three sets of snaps) so that's what I'm beginning to use again.  It never ceases to make me scratch my head and wonder what the heck I was thinking when I would forget to put a flushable liner down in the diaper first before putting it on him because he would always poop!  I don't have the sprayer (yet) for my toilet so I had to be careful to "take care" of the diaper using other means.  Gross I know.  Well after picking Goose up from the hourly daycare so I could study for an hour for my Praxis exam I decided today was the day to go for it and because I had only a handful of disposable diapers left and wanted to spend the money on something else other than diapers.  :)  (It's crazy to be so selfish and unselfish in the same sentence)  We went through two cloth diapers until right after dinner when I changed him.  I noticed a very red inflamed bum so I thought I'd let him air out a bit and run around without a diaper and clean up his little tinkle messes.  Well after cleaning up two messes in the same spot within 15 mins I decided to try the adorable cowboy print fleece cover my mom made to try.  I put it on him and wondered what would happen next.  The two pieces of background info are: the diaper is secured with velcro and he just learned what velcro was and how it works because of his new shoes.  Needless to say I couldn't help myself when after saying NO twice to make him stop pulling his diaper off at the velcro to bust out in laughter after the first time resecuring the diaper he stood up proudly and double handedly tore his diaper off with a grin.  I absolutely lost it!  And instead of giving up I tried two more times to resecure the diaper to have it ripped off again and again!  By the end Goose was running around the house with one foot still carrying around the diaper laughing hysterically.  It's a good thing I was sitting on the floor already or I think I would've dropped to the floor laughing so hard.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  I know it will bring more laundry!  :)

it started with the blueberries

Yesterday's highlights:
-butterfly's visit on the window pane created a great teachable moment though I'm not sure he will remember much about it.
-ducks + angus makes for rounds and rounds of laughter!
Day in review...
7:45am while talking to Scott I wondered what Angus was up too when things were quiet.  He wanted my attention and he got it!  I had washed 2 lbs of blueberries to dry off and freeze from picking them in Michigan and had absentmindedly left them on the counter in reach.  I peeked around the corner and happily throwing handfuls around was Angus and a couple hundred blueberries which he affectionately thought were mini balls.
9:55am I took Angus to hourly daycare to enjoy a hour of water aerobics for the first time.  I was proud of him as he ran out the door to the playground with the other kids and played ball....only to watch him run around with one shoe on and one shoe off as I drove away.  (first time he did that)
11:08am I picked Angus up from daycare and he was sobbing...frustrated that he couldn't still be playing outside despite the rain and a bit of separation anxiety mixed with eye teeth rearing their ugly heads perhaps.
until around 3pm there were goldfish pieces scattered in all parts of the house.
3:30pm we were having the oil changed in the car and he hated to see the cardboard bricks fall after I stacked them up.  afterwards he was delighted when a car salesman brought him a bright orange HUGE typical size car lot balloon.
5:30pm Angus thought he might take a shot at sweeping the floor.
6:55pm after myriads of books, toys, and many things becoming hats it was sleep time complete with...goodnight angus goodnight angus....goodnight angus your momma and daddy love you!

So I was watching the abc show Hopkins tonight after I peeled and cut up about ten peaches to make into jam or peach salsa and I was reminded yet again at how life is defined by God's time and not my own.  I hold Angus's life so dear and am thankful for every day we can spend together.  I am greatful to God for providing me such a joyous slice of his creation...I can't wait to enjoy him together with Scott when he returns some time in January.  Today he made everything a hat and laughed at me as I sang a Baby Signing time song...one shoe two shoes three shoes look at these shoes....and did the bum bum bum bum's that go along with the song.  The video didn't upload correctly so I'll try and get it here soon.

Cuddle bug

Goose and I arrived home last night weary from our travels home.  He is such a cuddle bug and I hope he continues to enjoy snuggling with me from time to time.  I'm all about him becoming independent and exploring new things but I just hope we will be able to show positive affection towards one another.  Tonight as we were winding down our day we finished reading books and I was singing him songs before bed.  He was cracking up laughing at Old MacDonald Had a Farm as I integrated signs for the animals and making the noises.  There were a couple times he just wanted to cuddle up to me and listen to me sing.  He climbed up on my lap and laid his head down on my chest and just listened for a little while.
We had quite the fun adventures during our trip north.  Angus discovered many new things from picking fruit from the vine or tree to only walking and standing up on his own.  He interacted so well with his almost 3 year old cousin Ethan while we were in chicago.  I'm sure you could hear the squeals and giggles from far away.
I've posted many of the hundreds of pictures that were taken on my facebook page.  Here's a link to check them out: www.new.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=98348&l=d0243&id=1101385642
