Sign this petition re: Amazon's union-busting tactics

Why can't such a large and wealthy company do better for its workers?

Dear MoveOn member,

My name is Jennifer Bates, and I started working at Amazon in May of 2020, not too long after its warehouse opened in Bessemer, Alabama. By my third day, I was hurting. I looked around and saw it wasn't just me. My co-workers and I—including older, younger, and middle-aged people—limp from constantly moving products around a four-story building the size of 16 football fields, where we aren't allowed to use the elevators.

We tried to form a union, but Amazon spent millions of dollars to stop us. As soon as Amazon found out that we were working with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, it started going hard trying to stop the union drive. We were forced into what the company called "union education" meetings. We had no choice but to attend them.

Our fight for representation isn't over—and the fight to make sure that workers have full rights to organize has just begun. Will you join me in calling on our senators to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act and make it harder for giant corporations like Amazon to prevent workers from unionizing?

All around the plant, Amazon had put up anti-union signs and messages. It sent messages to workers' phones. It even had signs posted in the bathroom stall. No place was off-limits. No place seemed safe.

This wouldn't have happened if the PRO Act—a significant piece of worker empowerment legislation that would change the power dynamics in America for generations—were law right now. It gives power back to workers and holds corporations accountable for union-busting. But since the Senate hasn't passed it yet, there's a real risk that other corporations will see what Amazon did in Bessemer and replicate it around the country.

Sign now: Tell our leaders in the U.S. Senate to support workers by passing the PRO Act!

The Protecting the Right to Organize Act already passed in the House with bipartisan support, and President Biden has shown his support by urging Congress to send it to his desk. Before that can happen, we have to urge our senators to support workers by passing it through the Senate.

We first started to talk about unionizing one day during a break. A co-worker said, "They wouldn't be doing this to us if we had a union."

Why can't such a large and wealthy company do better for its workers? Amazon even took away our essential worker pay in the middle of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Amazon has made tons of money during this crisis. Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world. And now he's even richer, thanks to his workers.

Amazon continues to deny us good working conditions and claims we should be happy with what we have, and then it turns around and spends millions to tell us we don't need a union.

We're filing objections to hold the company accountable for its union-busting, but we also want to make sure corporations can't do this again. If the PRO Act passes, corporations would face consequences for that kind of union-busting behavior.

Facebook poised to cave to Trump

Facebook's "Oversight Board" is poised to make the decision "in the coming weeks," and media watchers expect it to give in to Trump, who has 35 million followers on Facebook and 24 million on Instagram.

Dear MoveOn member,

Facebook just announced that they have delayed the decision about whether to lift their ban on Donald Trump.1 This is an opening, Mar, but we need to act fast.

Facebook's "Oversight Board" is poised to make the decision "in the coming weeks," and media watchers expect it to give in to Trump, who has 35 million followers on Facebook and 24 million on Instagram.2,3 Trump's posts were regularly among the most read, shared, and commented-on posts on the platforms, where he incited violence, spewed racist hate, and raised many millions of dollars to line his pockets and pad his political war chest.

YouTube has already announced that it will let Trump back on its platform.4

We know how to combat Trump's lies as the social media giants cave to him. During last year's presidential election, MoveOn hired a team of researchers and digital sleuths who tracked, exposed, and helped shut down white supremacist and far-right disinformation networks. And MoveOn has joined with other organizations to demand that the government break up the big tech companies to reduce their destructive influence on our democracy and discourse. Now, we need to prepare to fight back on all of these fronts as soon as Trump re-emerges on social media.

But there's one big problem: Donations to MoveOn have dropped significantly since last year, and unless our members step up, we won't have the resources to take on Trump's conspiracy theories and lies at the scale it will surely require.

We need your help so we can be ready. Will you chip in $5 a month to help us fight back against Trump for as long as it takes?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

We all saw on January 6 how dangerous Trump's conspiracy theories can be, and Republicans—including Kevin McCarthy, the top-ranking Republican in the House—continue to push the Big Lie that the election was stolen to justify the most sweeping attack on voting rights since Jim Crow.5,6

After the insurrection, Trump was banned from social media, which took away his megaphone for spreading hate and disinformation. The last thing we need now is Trump back on the internet, especially as we fight tooth and nail to reach herd immunity and end the COVID-19 nightmare.

Meanwhile, after four years of resistance, donations to MoveOn and other progressive groups have fallen off significantly. We get it. We all want a break after Trump, and MoveOn members fought, organized, and donated tirelessly through the Trump years. Unfortunately, now is the time when Biden and the Democrats need us pushing them the most—and when the newly emboldened right wing is stepping up its attacks.

It's a recipe for disaster. Donald Trump comes back to social media, and progressives don't have the resources to fight back.

We know how to limit the damage of Trump's disinformation. We have to track it, call it out, and demand that the big social media networks shut it down. But it isn't cheap or easy. Disinformation spreads like wildfire on social media, and it will take an incredible amount of pressure to get Facebook, YouTube, and other social media companies to take action.

That's why we're asking you become a monthly donor now, so that we're ready the minute Trump's social media ban is lifted and can keep up the fight for as long as it takes. Will you chip in $5 a month?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign this petition re: Citizenship for essential workers

I've seen first-hand how critical essential workers are to our nation's infrastructure—they're the backbone of our society, and have kept us all fed, healthy, and safe throughout this pandemic.

Sign my petition to ask President Biden to include the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act in his plan to Build Back Better. Immigrant essential workers are doing crucial work. Immigrants are a critical part of our nation's infrastructure, and must have a pathway to citizenship now.

Dear MoveOn member,

I'm Senator Alex Padilla, son of working-class Mexican immigrants, and California's first Latino United States senator. Growing up, my parents selflessly did everything they could to provide for us. I couldn't even tell you how many pancakes my dad flipped or eggs he scrambled, how many houses my mom cleaned, or how many cans, cardboard boxes, and newspapers my dad gathered to recycle to bring in more money to make ends meet.

I've seen firsthand how critical essential workers are to our nation's infrastructure—they're the backbone of our society, and have kept us all fed, healthy, and safe throughout this pandemic. Over 5 million of these workers are undocumented immigrants—they are among the farmworkers, meatpackers, nurses, janitors, construction workers, grocery store clerks, truck drivers, restaurant cooks, domestic workers, home health care aides, emergency first responders, and so many others who have stepped up for our nation during this unprecedented crisis.1

That's why my very first bill is the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act, which would create a pathway to citizenship for these American heroes who are citizens in every way but name and status. President Biden has a chance to recognize and reward the sacrifices and labor of essential workers in his upcoming Build Back Better legislative package, which is focused on jobs and infrastructure. We just have to make sure he hears from all of us.

Will you sign my petition to ask President Biden to prioritize the inclusion of the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act as part of the American Families Plan?

Essential workers paid a terrible toll this past year.2 Their work is often physically demanding—providing food, critical care, and more for the larger community—all at low wages that compound the socioeconomic and racial disparities in our country. A path to citizenship for essential workers is a critical part of building our economy back better.

The upcoming legislative package on jobs and infrastructure is the best opportunity to recognize and reward the sacrifices and labor of essential workers. These immigrant essential workers are citizens in all but name and status—and President Biden can change that now.

As usual, Republicans continue to refuse to advance immigration legislation supported by the overwhelming majority of the American people. In fact, a bipartisan majority of Americans agree that a path to citizenship for essential workers is the right thing to do.3

Essential workers are American heroes—and President Biden has the opportunity to provide a pathway to citizenship by supporting this important legislation now.

Click here to add your name to this petition, then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks for all you do.

Ice cream is delicious. This is disgusting.

Ben and Jerry here—the ice cream guys. We've got old news and new news. Old news: Billionaires are trying to buy our democracy. New news: We have a chance to stop them.

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

Ben and Jerry here—the ice cream guys. We've got old news and new news.

Old news: Billionaires are trying to buy our democracy. New news: We have a chance to stop them.

A report out last week shows that just 12 megadonors—most of whom are billionaires—contributed $3.4 billion to federal candidates and political groups between 2009 and 2020.1

You read that right: $3.4 billion to buy elections and stop popular bills from being passed in Congress.

This is disgusting.

But with the Senate starting to consider the For the People Act—the sweeping bill already passed by the House to expand voting rights and reduce the influence of Big Money in politics—we're closer than we have been in years to curbing the influence of money in politics and strengthening the power of voters, not billionaires, to run our democracy.2

Which is why we're partnering with MoveOn to help pass the For the People Act through the Senate and stop billionaires from buying elections. We're asking you to join us in rubber-stamping bills with the message, "Stamp Money Out of Politics." It's totally legal to do, and every stamped bill becomes a mini-billboard that is seen by nearly 1,000 people as it gets passed around.

Just click here, chip in $16 or more, and we'll send you your very own "Stamp Money Out of Politics" rubber stamp! The money will be used to help MoveOn increase pressure on the handful of Senate Democrats needed to pass the bill, and you'll automatically be entered in a drawing to win Ben & Jerry's ice cream for a year!

Wow! An awesome dollar-decorator rubber stamp, a chance to help out MoveOn, and a possibility of winning ice cream for a year—all while saving our democracy? Hard to resist!

Seriously, Mar, this is a great way to get Big Money out of politics—especially during a pandemic. Stamping bills is safe and socially distanced, but you will still have a big impact as we build momentum to pass the For the People Act.

These mini-billboards stay in circulation for 2.5 years, and each bill is viewed by nearly 1,000 people.

And when you chip in to MoveOn, you're not just getting a self-inking "Stamp Money Out of Politics" rubber stamp in return, you're also fueling MoveOn's efforts to pass the For the People Act through the Senate, so that we can make real progress on everything from climate change to re-envisioning the police and fighting for racial justice.

Oh, and you'll also be entered in a drawing to win Ben & Jerry's ice cream for a whole year!

More than 100,000 MoveOn members have already joined our protest and stamped millions of bills. Will you join us?

Click here and chip in $16 or more to get your "Stamp Money Out of Politics" rubber stamp, help pass the For the People Act to stop billionaires from buying elections, and be entered in the drawing to win Ben & Jerry's ice cream for a year!

Thanks for all you do.

Sign this petition re: the blockade on Yemen

President Biden must speak out against the blockade on Yemen and end all U.S. support for the Saudi-led blockade that is starving the Yemeni people of basic necessities.

Dear MoveOn member,

The Yemeni Liberation Movement was on a hunger strike from March 29 to April 22, 2021. We demand President Biden speak out publicly against the blockade of Yemen and end all U.S. support for this Saudi-led blockade that has been starving and harming millions of people.

Yemenis face the world's worst humanitarian crisis and one of the highest rates of child malnutrition in the world. As recently reported, the "Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, the world's top authority on food security, said last year that 47,000 Yemenis were suffering from famine-like conditions and that more than 16 million—over half of Yemen's population—couldn't reliably and adequately feed themselves."UNICEF projects that of the 12 million children in Yemen needing assistance, nearly 2.3 million children under the age of 5 will suffer from acute malnutrition in 2021 and nearly 400,000 could die without urgent treatment.2

This is a human-caused humanitarian crisis driven by the Saudi government and tacit support from the U.S. government. President Biden can and must speak out, change course, and end this suffering.

Our demands have still not been met by the Biden administration.

President Biden must speak out against the blockade on Yemen and end all U.S. support for the Saudi-led blockade that is starving the Yemeni people of basic necessities.

The U.S.-backed Saudi coalition has been slaughtering the Yemeni people for six years now, and it escalated to a deadly fuel blockade in December.

Yemenis have been deprived of their basic human rights of water, food, electricity, and life at the hands of the U.S.-funded onslaught. This is simply unacceptable, and the blockade must come to an end immediately.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

We can make this the tipping point on gun violence

The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, nearly 10 years ago should have been the tipping point on gun violence in America. But since then Congress has not passed a single law to make our children and communities safer.

Dear MoveOn member,

It's one mass shooting after another: Austin, Texas, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday. The FedEx facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, last Thursday.1

It was just a month ago that 10 people lost their lives in a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado.2

All told, there have been at least 50 mass shootings since the spa shootings and hate crime in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 16, in which eight people—including six Asian-American women—were killed.3,4

Fifty mass shootings in the span of about one month.

And it's happening as the police last week shot and killed yet another Black man—20-year-old Daunte Wright.5,6

Mar, we CANNOT let this continue.

We know how to stop this horrific violence: We need to pass gun safety laws, re-envision the police, and combat white supremacy.7

Democrats control the House, Senate, and White House, and the NRA is weaker than it's been in decades as a result of corruption, infighting, and legal trouble.8

This is the moment to act. But we need your help.

Mar, will you chip in $5 a month to fuel our campaign to pass gun safety legislation?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, nearly 10 years ago should have been the tipping point on gun violence in America. But since then Congress has not passed a single law to make our children and communities safer.

Zero laws to protect our children and communities.

We won't stand for it. And we have the biggest opening in years to pass gun safety laws, with Democrats in control and the NRA on its heels.

The House has already passed two bills this year to expand and strengthen background checks for gun buyers: requiring background checks for all gun buyers, including at gun shows, and giving the FBI more time to vet gun buyers.9 President Joe Biden is calling for a ban on AR-15s and high-capacity magazines.10 It's long past time for Democrats in the Senate to do whatever it takes to pass gun safety legislation. NOW.

We can do this, but it's going to take all of us coming together to make it happen.

Please, Mar, will you chip in $5 a month to power our work to pass gun safety legislation?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

The future and so many lives are in our hands. Let's do this.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support our work? Since President Joe Biden's inauguration, donations to MoveOn and other progressive organizations have plummeted. While we remain on solid financial footing, if this downturn continues, we could be forced to cut back our ambitious campaigning plans. With so much on the line, we can't afford to shrink our plans—or our budget. So we're writing you with an important question:

Will you chip in to power the fight for a progressive future?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

The cop who killed George Floyd was convicted on all charges. Here's what we do next.

Minutes ago, a jury found Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis, MN, police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds guilty on all charges.

Dear MoveOn member,

Minutes ago, a jury found Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis, MN, police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds guilty on all charges.1

While today's verdict provides a critical measure of accountability, there is so much more we must do to achieve true justice in this country. Justice would mean George Floyd was alive today. It would mean Daunte Wright was alive today. It would mean so many others were alive today. And simply being alive is not enough, it would mean that we were breaking the grip of racism and white supremacy that prevents us from achieving true justice.

As we breathe a sigh of relief, we must see this as a reminder to rededicate ourselves to acting with great urgency to end white supremacy and police violence and to create a world in which Black people are safe and free.

There are many ways of participating in the work of racial justice. And in the coming days and weeks, we will be sharing more information. But here is something you can do right now that will make an immediate impact:

Will you rush a $3 donation to the Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition, a visionary grassroots effort working to replace the Minneapolis Police Department with a new Department of Public Safety?

Yes 4 Minneapolis is a Black-led, growing coalition of grassroots, community organizations and individuals who are working to replace the violent Minneapolis Police Department with a new Department of Public Safety that would address community safety holistically and with a public health approach.

The Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition is building the support necessary to put a proposal on the ballot this November when Minneapolis voters will have the chance to make a historic and visionary decision to completely reimagine the way public safety is achieved.

And if the coalition's campaign is successful, it could have massive national implications, providing a road map for communities across the country to restructure public safety.

Will you donate $3 to the Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition today? 100% of your donation will go directly toward the effort of ending police violence and restructuring how public safety is achieved.

In the days ahead, across the country, there will be reflections, calls for transformational policies, and other ways to take action to demand more change. We'll continue sharing those opportunities as we learn of ways we can have collective impact.

Today, and every day, we honor the memories of the Black children, Black mothers, Black fathers, Black trans people, Black people with disabilities, and all Black people murdered by police.

And we recommit ourselves to acting with courage in service of Black liberation.

If you are able, click here to donate to the Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition. 100% of your donation will go directly toward ending police violence, uprooting white supremacy, and reimagining public safety.

May George Floyd rest in peace.

Thanks for all you do.

Filibuster in under 2 minutes! (watch and share)

What's blocking gun violence reform, voting rights and a slew of other democracy-protecting and civil rights bills from becoming law in America?

Dear MoveOn member,

What's blocking gun violence reform, voting rights, and a slew of other democracy-protecting and civil rights bills from becoming law in America? It's always been the filibuster, an archaic procedural tool in the Senate that's been weaponized against progress and has entrenched conservative minority rule for generations. The filibuster is another vestige of white supremacy that's allowed senators to protect the interests of racist segregationists, the NRA, and those who oppose democracy.

Image: Thumbnail of the video player. Blue background with yellow text, which reads: The filibuster and why its suuuuuuper racist.

Many people assume the filibuster has always been around (it hasn't) or that it's been used for good (not true). So we need to help folks understand how it's been abused for decades and the obstruction it's causing now. For much of the filibuster's history, its primary purpose has been to protect a racist minority dead set against passing laws that protect voting rights, civil rights, and democracy. It was routinely used to stall or block civil rights bills despite majority support, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The filibuster blocked over 200 anti-lynching bills and dozens of civil rights bills.1

It's past time to abolish the filibuster, because it gets in the way of the relief and progress we need to create an America that works for all of us. Everyone in America needs to know about the racist history of the filibuster, so watch and share the video today. Let's end the legacy of segregationists in the Senate before the filibuster inflicts more harm.

Thanks for all you do.

Elizabeth Warren's very important new book

A big, important new book is about to come out, and you're not going to want to miss it: Elizabeth Warren's "Persist" is a deeply personal book about how profound change is well within our reach if we fight for it. And it's being released early next month.

Dear MoveOn member,

A big, important new book is about to come out, and you're not going to want to miss it: Elizabeth Warren's "Persist" is a deeply personal book about how profound change is well within our reach if we fight for it. And it's being released early next month.

We've gotten a sneak peek, and it's terrific.

If you're as excited about this book as we are and are ready to order it, we have a way to do so that's better than through your local big-box store or online retailer.

If you start a monthly donation to MoveOn—at any amount—today, we'll send you a special edition copy of Senator Warren's book for free. Instead of giving money to a big, corporate bookseller, you'll support MoveOn—and help us work with Sen. Warren to achieve political transformation.

And you'll also be entered to win a signed copy of the book! We have 500 signed copies signed by Sen. Warren exclusively for MoveOn members like you.

Click here to get your special edition copy of Elizabeth Warren's new book by starting a monthly donation of $5—or an amount of your choosing.

Not able to become a monthly donor but still interested in "Persist?" Click here.

In "Persist," Sen. Warren shares vivid personal stories, like her path to her first job as a teacher, which had long been her dream:

"The road had been bumpy. My mother didn't want me to go to work ('just marry a man who is a good provider'). We didn't have money for college ('college is for other people'). I found a way to go to college anyhow, but I got married at nineteen and dropped out ('I always knew you would'). I found a commuter college that I could afford, but my husband got transferred before I could graduate ('his job is important')."

But Sen. Warren's dream "crashed and burned" in her first year as a teacher, despite loving the profession and being successful at it, when she was fired for being pregnant:

"And in the space of a couple of minutes it was over. My job was gone. The principal told me I could finish up the last few weeks of the school year as long I didn't 'look too pregnant,' and then I was to clear out. He would hire someone else for next year. He stood up and wished me luck."

You'll want to hear more of Sen. Warren's personal story as well as her plan for how, together, we can make transformational change to save the middle class, end systemic racism, fight climate change, and so much more.

No corporate bookstore will take the money you spend to buy Sen. Warren's book and put it directly to work to help enact her progressive agenda. But MoveOn will.

Get yours before special edition copies run out!

Start a monthly donation to MoveOn, and we'll send you the book and enter you to win a signed copy.

Shocking new bill … and it’s on the verge of becoming law

It's part of a twisted new coordinated right-wing strategy to attack children in states across the country. The scary part is that the Florida legislature is controlled by legislators intent on passing the bill. That's why we're writing to you today.

Dear MoveOn member,

A shocking new anti-trans bill in Florida could require every student athlete in the state to "verify their biological sex through an anatomical exam, genetic or hormone testing."1

It's part of a twisted new coordinated right-wing strategy to attack children in states across the country. The scary part is that the Florida legislature is controlled by legislators intent on passing the bill. That's why we're writing to you today.

Equality Florida is the state's largest organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and they're fighting tooth and nail to stop this despicable bill, along with others that attack fundamental rights for LGBTQ people.

But there's a huge problem: We don't have much time to stop these bills. Equality Florida has set a goal of raising $40,000 this week to support rapid response programs to mobilize activists and pro-equality Floridians to call out the harm these bills do.

Which is why we're coming to dedicated MoveOn members like you with an urgent question:

Will you rush an emergency $3 donation today split between Equality Florida and MoveOn? Your donation will help Equality Florida stop these anti-trans bills, and will help fuel MoveOn's work to stop similar bills that are being introduced in states across the country.

Mar, as Equality Florida's director of transgender equality, Gina Duncan, said, this bill  "isn't about sports, it's another way to marginalize and demonize the transgender community," especially trans kids.2

The bill is part of a nationally orchestrated attack on LGBTQ rights that is being fueled and funded by right-wing bigots.

In 2021 alone, conservative legislators in 20 states across the country are pushing nearly 100 anti-transgender bills that would ban trans kids from accessing medically necessary health care, prohibit trans girls from participating in girls sports, and more.3

Just weeks ago, Arkansas passed a shocking law that allows medical workers to deny care to people in the LGBTQ community.4 And in Mississippi, the governor just signed into law a bill banning trans athletes from school sports entirely.5

We simply can't let the right-wing bigots attack trans kids and trample on the values of justice and equality.

Equality Florida has a hard-hitting plan to stop these bills right in their tracks. But without the cash to fuel their campaign, the right wing will win.

Will you rush a $3 donation today to stop these despicable bills? Your donation will be split evenly between Equality Florida and MoveOn.

Thanks for all you do.

Look at these beautiful actions!

In the streets and on Zoom, MoveOn members across the country appealed directly to their members of Congress, urging them to go big and bold by delivering jobs, care, justice, climate solutions, tribal sovereignty, and real democracy for all of our people in the next recovery package.

Dear MoveOn member,

President Biden's newly announced American Jobs Plan would make transformative investments in millions of jobs, trains and bridges, replacing lead pipes, expanding high speed broadband, ensuring workers have the right to join a union, and strengthening the care economy.1

This plan is a critical piece of Biden's agenda, which is so desperately needed as our communities are still picking up the pieces from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and decades of growing wealth inequality. And like with any massive legislation that would help working and middle class people, you'd better believe that powerful interests are already trying to stop it.

The truth is that Biden and progressives in Congress can't make these plans a reality without support from people across the country fighting for change. If we want our elected officials to provide real recovery, we have to show up. During the two weeks that Congress was home on recess, MoveOn members and allies joined together at Recovery Recess events nationwide to demand solutions that meet the scale of the problems we've been handed—including green jobs oriented to address climate change, care jobs, healthcare, and all other kinds of support that Americans desperately need.

And it was beautiful. We garnered major press coverage, from local papers of record to national cable news. Watch and share this video montage highlighting some of the 200+ events that made up Recovery Recess.

Video montage of MoveOn members taking action for Recovery Recess

In the streets and on Zoom, MoveOn members across the country appealed directly to their members of Congress, urging them to go big and bold by delivering jobs, care, justice, climate solutions, tribal sovereignty, and real democracy for all of our people in the next recovery package.

Here is a taste of the breadth of actions MoveOn members helped make happen:
  • West Virginians organized "Jammin for Jobs" concerts across the state to demand passage of the Thrive Act and held local rallies urging Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Capito to "go big" and support the THRIVE Act.
  • Frontline Indigenous youth from communities impacted by the Dakota Access, Line 3, KXL, Line 5, and Mountain Valley pipelines ran through Washington, D.C. to demand Biden #BuildBackFossilFree.

  • North Carolinians marched to the offices of Senator Richard Burr and Representatives Virginia Foxx and Alma Adams urging them to back the THRIVE Act. Rep. Adams has now officially cosponsored the THRIVE Agenda!

  • Arizonans put in werk at the THRIVE Ball, a live drag show supporting the THRIVE Act, faith leaders called on Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema to fight racist voter suppression and pass the For the People Act, and young people gathered to demand Sen. Sinema tackle the climate crisis by guaranteeing good jobs for all.

  • Montanans organized a car caravan outside Senator Jon Tester's office in Missoula where a staff member actually came out and spoke with them, saying he signed on to cosponsor the bill!

rotating photos of people in action

With everything our communities have been through in the past year, individually and collectively, we know that big changes are absolutely required if we're going to thrive. After the pandemic hit, after the insurrection, after a renewed uprising against police violence, through one climate shock after another, it's become even more clear that we can't just go back to the ways things were—we must build back better and stronger than ever before.

We can't—and won't—go back to a norm of crumbling infrastructure, tremendous unemployment, sustained racial and wealth inequalities, and ecological destruction. We need our government to go big and tackle these issues all together if we have a shot at addressing any of them.

The fight for true recovery for our country is ongoing. This is why MoveOn members are rising up to seize this once-in-a-generation political moment, and win big for climate, care, jobs, justice, and democracy.

Thanks for all you do.
