FW: Hurricane Harvey

Explosions have been reported at a chemical plant, levies are on the brink of overflowing, and the work of recovery and rebuilding is just starting. Explosions have been reported at a chemical plant, levies are on the brink of overflowing, and the work of recovery and rebuilding is just starting.

Hi, Eddie,

Hurricane Harvey's floodwaters have begun receding in many parts of Houston—but in many ways, the disaster is only beginning to unfold. Explosions have been reported at a chemical plant, levies are on the brink of overflowing, and the work of recovery and rebuilding is just starting.1 And communities across Texas and Louisiana are facing catastrophic flooding.

Click here to pitch in to Hurricane Harvey relief work. MoveOn will cover credit card fees of your tax-deductible gift.

For more details, see Anna's message from the other day, below:

Dear MoveOn member,

Hurricane Harvey is shaping up to be "one of the worst flooding disasters in U.S. history."2

Huge swaths of the fourth-biggest city in the U.S. and surrounding counties are already underwater. Untold numbers of people are currently trapped in their homes. Hundreds of thousands are without electricity. Authorities can't even get around to fully assess the damage—much less to help everyone who needs aid.3

And more—much more—rain is still coming. More than two additional feet of water are expected by the end of the week. The National Weather Service tweeted that the event will be "unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced."4

This is an epic disaster for the people of Houston and other Gulf Coast communities. They desperately need help—both right now and after the waters recede and the news cameras leave.

Will you chip in to help the people of Houston? MoveOn will cover the credit card fees, so that 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go directly to local organizations helping people in dire need.

Yes, I'll chip in to help provide emergency relief to the people of Houston.

Local, community-based organizations do some of the most crucial relief work—providing meals, helping people find health care, distributing supplies, helping residents dig out, and supporting the recovery efforts after media attention has shifted. They're deeply woven into their communities and can help keep them from falling apart under this much stress.

We've identified a relief effort that deserves our collective support—the Hurricane Harvey Community Relief Fund, which is spearheaded by the respected group Texas Organizing Project.

Will you chip in now? Your tax-deductible contribution will go a long way, and MoveOn will cover 100% of the credit card fees, so that more of your money reaches folks in need.

Yes, I'll chip in and help support Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.

In the aftermath of historic natural (and, at times, human-fueled) disasters—from Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy to earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal—MoveOn members have come together as a community to help fund emergency relief.

Each time, we've donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to people in desperate need, while also continuing to fight the root causes that make these crises worse.5

Today, please join me in standing with the brave people of Houston, as they face down a living nightmare.

Thanks for all you do.

Bernie Sanders has a brand new book!

Bernie Sanders has a new book, and you know it's great because Fox News hates it.  "Fox & Friends" spent 15 minutes smearing Bernie as a "communist" and making fun of his age.

Dear MoveOn member,

Bernie Sanders has a new book, and you know it’s great because Fox News hates it.

"Fox & Friends" spent 15 minutes smearing Bernie as a "communist" and making fun of his age.1

But you know what would really drive them crazy? Bernie’s book on top of The New York Times best-sellers list.

Bernie's book is aimed at young adults and up, in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of the political revolution. It's excellent reading for young people, those new to political activism—and really, for anyone. (And it also makes for an excellent gift!)

For a limited time, you can get a limited-edition copy of Bernie's "Guide to Political Revolution" from MoveOn—and your money will be used to fight Trump’s corrupt agenda. Sean Hannity’s head might explode!

Click here to order your limited-edition copy of Bernie's "Guide to Political Revolution" from MoveOn—and your money will be used to fight Donald Trump and keep Bernie's political revolution alive!

Bernie's book is written as a guide for young people on how to get more involved in politics. And it couldn’t come at a better time, with the Trump administration doing everything possible to turn off millions of young people from getting involved in government. It’s no wonder Fox News is attacking Bernie. Recent polls show he’s the most popular politician in America—with Trump one of the least. So instead of engaging with Bernie's ideas, they commit character assassination.

The best way we can resist is to get Bernie's book to the top of the best-seller list, so even more people will get the book and his positive ideas will spread even further. But instead of buying your book from a corporate bookseller, such as Amazon—which is going to use your money to crack down on labor unions and advertise on Breitbart—you can get it from MoveOn, where we’ll put your money to work to build support for Medicare for All and other key parts of Bernie’s revolution.3,4

So, let’s ruin "Fox and Friends'" day:

Click here to pre-order your special, limited-edition copy of Bernie's "Guide to Political Revolution" from MoveOn now.

Thanks for all you do.

It starts with you, Eddie

We are not powerless. Will you start your own MoveOn petition on an issue that matters to you?

Help create a movement for change: Start a petition

Dear fellow MoveOn member,

I'm Patrick McHeffey, a MoveOn member from New York. When I first read that President Trump was considering withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, I was tempted to feel defeated; to feel powerless. How could the whims of one man be allowed to impact the world in so disastrous a manner?

But instead of giving up, I started my first petition on MoveOn.org to send an impassioned statement to our leaders and to the world that in spite of Trump's shortsighted decision, we can and will remain as committed as ever to mitigating climate change.

It turned out I wasn't the only one who felt that way: More than 500,000 people signed on to my petition in less than four days. And just a few days later, I personally delivered my petition signatures along with 2 million more to the United Nations, urging world leaders to move forward on climate action.

We are not powerless. We are not defeated. We can and will change the world.

Will you join me by creating your own MoveOn petition on an issue that matters to you? Click here to get started.

If you don't have any campaign experience ... don't worry! Getting started is easy.

After I created my petition, MoveOn gave me the support I needed to run my campaign. I used MoveOn's campaign tips and guides, emailed volunteers for help when needed, and sent important messages and updates to the other MoveOn members who signed my petition, organizing them to share the petition with their friends and family—and even start their own campaigns to take action on climate change.

Since I started my petition, MoveOn members in more than 36 states have started petitions calling on their governors to join the U.S. Climate Alliance and uphold the Paris Agreement at the state level. And we're still just getting started.

So don't feel defeated. Click here to start your own MoveOn petition today, and help create a movement for change.

Thanks for all you do.

WATCH: Elizabeth Warren's message for Democrats

Since Election Day, so-called "strategists" have said that progressives and Democrats need to choose whether we're going to fight for economic justice or racial justice.

Dear MoveOn member,

Since Election Day, so-called "strategists" have said that progressives and Democrats need to choose whether we're going to fight for economic justice or racial justice.

This is a dangerous and false choice.

Earlier this month, Senator Elizabeth Warren gave a barnburner of a speech to thousands of grassroots organizers about how Democrats can win elections—while fighting for all of our shared values. Because when we stand together and fight together, we can galvanize the country, build power, and win—together.

Will you watch and share Elizabeth Warren's speech right now? Click here:

Don't want to watch on Facebook? Click here to watch on YouTube.

As Sen. Warren says, "We shouldn't be wasting energy arguing about whose issue matters most or who in our alliance should be voted off the island. What Democrats really need is some backbone to get in the fight [and] to be strong when we lay out a plan to make this country work for the people instead of the powerful."

Click here to watch and share Elizabeth Warren's speech right now.

In 2018, it'll be up to MoveOn members and the progressive movement to show Democrats how to win elections with a visionary, uplifting, and inclusive agenda that rejects false choices between economic justice and racial justice; that reaffirms our commitment to a woman's right to make her own health care decisions; that rejects racism, sexism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-semitism, and white supremacy in all their forms; and that avoids playing into the other fault lines that those in power use to divide us from each other.

When it came to health care reform, over the past few months, Democrats showed backbone in standing up to Donald Trump and the GOP. Now, it's time for every Democratic candidate, up and down the ballot, to show backbone on—and run on—a bold and inclusive populist agenda that will inspire and mobilize our nation.

You've got to see Senator Warren's speech. Click here to watch, and then share it on Facebook.

Thanks for all you're doing every day to build an inclusive country in which everybody can live with dignity and thrive.

Trump's disgusting rally (even worse than Fox News)

I don't write you many emails; I'm busy creating videos! But I wrote you this past weekend to ask for your help to take on Donald Trump's lies and misinformation. And after his rally in Phoenix, Arizona, last night where he exhibited unhinged behavior, spewing lie after lie—and blamed the news media for the divisions in America—it's more clear now than ever that we at Video Lab have a huge and important job to do.

Dear MoveOn member,

As MoveOn's Video Lab Director, I don't write you many emails; I'm busy creating videos!

Which is why I'm writing you one more time.

Our democracy is in peril because:

1. Donald Trump keeps lying to the American people, while directly attacking major news outlets that report the truth.1 Last night, at his Phoenix rally, he lied again and again.2 He doubled down on his refusal to condemn white supremacy and was unwilling to admit that he had blamed the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, on "many sides" and "both sides."3 His crowd of supporters even chanted "CNN sucks."4 All this bullying may be working: CNN chose to cover his entire rally live, without real-time fact checking and commentary.5 That's especially troubling given that this was an official 2020 Trump re-election campaign rally packed with Trump's screened, hand-picked supporters.6

2. The right-wing media giant Sinclair Broadcast Group is trying to pump far-right propaganda into millions of homes, doing to local TV news what Fox has done to cable news. Sinclair is forcing their local TV stations to run over-the-top pro-Trump commentaries by Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn during their news broadcasts, and after a proposed mega-merger with Tribune Media, Sinclair would reach 72 percent of households in America.7

3. Donald Trump has launched a new project, which some reporters are calling "Trump TV."8 Trump TV is an attempt to deliver fake news and "alternative facts" directly to the American people.

In short, Trump and his surrogates are finding ways to bully and bypass the media, giving them direct access to spread lies and misinformation directly to the American people.

We have an ambitious plan to counter the right-wing media takeover by expanding MoveOn's Video Lab and getting the truth out to millions of Americans. But we need your help to pull it off!

MoveOn launched Video Lab in June 2016. Since then—in just over a year—we've had more than 300 million views on Facebook alone, with viewers having spent 139 million minutes (or a grand total of 264 years) absorbing MoveOn's fact-based stories, context, and timely information.

In this new media environment where roughly half of American adults get their news from social media, video is playing a key role in our priority campaigns.9 In the fight to stop Trumpcare—which we won(!)—we created 142 videos that were viewed 40 million times and shared over 900,000 times. Our videos also generated 37,000 calls to members of Congress.

Our plan to respond to these big new challenges is to get the truth out—tens of millions of times—by doubling down on what's worked over the past year, continuing to innovate, and growing our team. It's critical that we make big investments right now, to make sure that we're prepared to respond to an unprecedented assault on the truth going into the 2018 and 2020 election seasons.

Which is why I'm asking: Can you chip in $3 to help expand MoveOn's Video Lab team?

Yes, I'll chip in to help expand MoveOn's Video Lab team.

Here's why Video Lab works so well:

  • We're fast. MoveOn's Video Lab team uses cutting-edge production techniques to create powerful, Facebook-optimized videos within the fast-paced news cycle. This ability to move from inception to posting in a few hours means that we're shaping the political conversation as news breaks, providing our audience with independent, carefully sourced, progressive content and analysis that they can share with others. Video Lab releases five to ten videos per week, with a typical viewership of 100,000 per video. At the same time, Video Lab produces signature pieces with breakout success, such as our Trump's tax returns video created in partnership with Senator Elizabeth Warren—that has received more than 37 million views to date.
  • We have a huge reach. Even the best, most timely content has no impact if it doesn't reach viewers. That's why MoveOn's 1.4 million Facebook followers, 264,000 Twitter followers, 45,000 YouTube followers, 25,000 Instagram followers, and millions of members who receive videos over email are so important—along with our team's relationships with some of the internet's biggest social media publishers and networkers, who serve as crucial amplifiers for our messages, helping MoveOn's Facebook posts reach 5-10 million people in a typical week. Video Lab's compelling, shareable storytelling carries widely and quickly, reaching a broad audience at a fraction of the cost of TV ads and other forms of paid media.
  • We're an independent, trusted voice. We aren't beholden to any politician, party, corporation, or foundation. We are accountable only to MoveOn members! We fight Trump's lies with the truth, and we stand for core progressive values, including economic and racial justice, healing the planet, and a democracy that belongs to the people instead of to billionaires and corporations. That spirit of independence and our core values come through in our videos.

Convinced? Good! We need your help. Can you chip in $3 to help fuel our critical Video Lab series?

Yes, I'll chip in.

It has never been harder for the American people to hear through the noise and learn the facts about what's really happening in our country. We cannot allow Trump to control the flow of information in America. We have to fight back.

Thanks for all you do.

Add your name: Censure Trump

We cannot stand by and we cannot allow Congress to remain silent while Trump encourages bigotry and racism.

Add your name: Support a congressional resolution to formally censure Donald Trump.

Dear MoveOn member,

Days after the tragedy and violence in Charlottesville, President Trump has continued to signal his support for the racists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis who coordinated the "Unite the Right" rally.1

The Trump administration's rhetoric and policies—including his continued employment of senior advisers with white supremacist ties, even after Steve Bannon's departure—have given an unequivocal boost to these hate-filled movements.

We cannot stand by and we cannot allow Congress to remain silent while Trump encourages bigotry and racism.

That’s why we, Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman, Pramila Jayapal, and Jerrold Nadler, introduced a resolution to formally censure Donald Trump for refusing to condemn the KKK and neo-Nazis and for harboring white nationalists. It also calls on him to fire those advisers who cater to white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

More than 100 of our Democratic colleagues have co-sponsored this resolution, and already more than 131,000 fellow MoveOn members have signed on in support.

Eddie, can you add your name now so that we can deliver your signature and double down on our campaign to censure Trump as soon as Congress is back in session?

Together, we’ll speak in one, powerful voice.

Thanks for all you do.

I'm Anne Thompson, MoveOn's Video Lab Director. I don't write you very often because I'm usually behind the scenes, producing videos. But I'm writing you today to talk about what Video Lab is; two big new challenges that we're facing right now and how we're planning to deal with them; and how you can help.

What MoveOn's Video Lab is:

MoveOn launched Video Lab in June 2016. Since then—in just over a year—we've had more than 300 million views on Facebook alone, with viewers having spent 139 million minutes (or a grand total of 264 years) absorbing MoveOn's fact-based stories, context, and timely information.

In this new media environment where roughly half of American adults get their news from social media, video is playing a key role in our priority campaigns.1 In the fight to stop Trumpcare—which we won(!)—we created 142 videos that were viewed 40 million times and shared over 900,000 times. Our videos also generated 37,000 calls to members of Congress.

Two big, new challenges that we're facing:

We've had breakout successes over the past year. But now, there are two big, new challenges that we're facing in the right-wing, fake-news space:

1. Donald Trump has launched a new project, which some reporters are calling "Trump TV."2 Trump TV is an attempt to deliver fake news and "alternative facts" directly to the American people.

2. For years, Fox News has pumped right-wing propaganda into millions of homes. Now, the right-wing media giant Sinclair Broadcast Group is trying to do to local TV news what Fox has done to cable news. Sinclair is forcing their local TV stations to run over-the-top pro-Trump commentaries by Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn during their news broadcasts, and after a proposed mega-merger with Tribune Media, Sinclair would reach 72 percent of households in America.3

How we're fighting back against right-wing, pro-Trump media:

We have an enormous opportunity to respond to these big new challenges and get the truth out—tens of millions of times—by doubling down on what's worked over the past year, continuing to innovate, and growing our team. And it's critical that we make big investments right now, to make sure that we're prepared to respond to an unprecedented assault on the truth going into the 2018 election season.

So here's my simple request: Can you join the fight against right-wing pro-Trump media by chipping in $5 a month to help MoveOn expand our Video Lab team?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

It has never been harder for the American people to hear through the noise and learn the facts about what's happening in our country. And I don't need to tell you how extremely dangerous these new developments are to our already teetering democracy.

We've got to counter the right-wing media takeover and tell the truth. Over the past year, we've proven that what Video Lab does really makes a difference. Now, I'm asking for your help to take Video Lab to the next level.

Please, click here to chip in $5—or whatever you can afford—each month, and help us stand up for the truth.

Or if you can't chip in monthly, click here.

Thanks for all you do.

–Anne, Elsie, Sara, Seth, and the rest of the MoveOn Video Lab team

At the same time, Video Lab also produces signature pieces with breakout success, such as our Trump's tax returns video created in partnership with Senator Elizabeth Warren—that has received more than 37 million views to date.
  • We have a huge reach. Even the best, most timely content has no impact if it doesn't reach viewers. That's why MoveOn's 1.4 million Facebook followers, 264,000 Twitter followers, 45,000 YouTube followers, 24,000 Instagram followers, and millions of members who receive videos over email are so important—along with our team's relationships with some of the internet's biggest social media publishers and networkers, who serve as crucial amplifiers for our messages, helping MoveOn's Facebook posts reach 5-10 million people in a typical week.

Convinced? Good! We need your help! Can you chip in $5 a month to help expand MoveOn's Video Lab?

Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

P.P.S. You can check out more than 500 videos from MoveOn's Video Lab here.

We all must keep working to confront Trump's embrace of this toxic anti-Black, anti-immigrant, anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, anti-woman, homophobic bigotry—and all its symbols, advocates, and enablers in the Trump administration, as well as in all our communities.

That will be the focus of the call tonight, Sunday, August 2at 8 p.m. ET (7 CT/6 MT/5 PT). Because you have registered for this call or subscribed to this call series, a few minutes before the training begins, you'll receive a call at the phone number you listed. Take action near you!

YOU'RE INVITED!
"Not One Penny" of tax cuts for the rich

Where: Park Avenue beginning from 68th Street  (in New York)
When: Saturday, August 19, 11:00 AM
What:

Members of Congress are home, and they need to hear from you!

Both houses of Congress are home for August recess. This is an opportunity for all of us to make ourselves heard in our home states. Throughout August, we'll be taking action at town halls, protests, and other events as part of Resistance Recess.

Following the violence by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, this past weekend, we have seen tens of thousands of Americans participating in rallies and vigils all over the country. Over the next few weeks, we'll build upon this momentum and continue to make sure that senators and representatives remember that they work for us! We'll call on them to take action against white supremacy, fight for Medicare for All, defend voting rights and civil rights for all Americans, and push for tax and budget priorities that work for regular Americans, not just the 1%—and much more.

There are hundreds of actions already scheduled to take place across the United States between now and September 4. Will you join us at this event or find other ways to make your voice heard during this congressional recess?
A person holding a sign! YES, I'LL BE THERE! People holding signs!
I can't make it, but show me other events near me.

By participating in this event, you agree

(i) not to engage in any act of violence or violation of any applicable law,
(ii) to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities, and
(iii) that MoveOn will not be responsible for any injury or damage to your person or property resulting from or occurring in the course of your participating in the event, and you agree to release and forever hold harmless MoveOn, MoveOn.org Political Action, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from liability for any such injury or damage.

Add your name: Remove every confederate symbol in America

Click here to sign the petition: Demand that our elected leaders remove every Confederate symbol in America.

Breaking: Just this morning, Donald Trump doubled down on his embrace of white supremacy, saying it's "foolish" and "sad" that cities are removing Confederate statues in the aftermath of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. Calling these symbols of white supremacy "beautiful statues," he claimed that our culture is being "ripped apart."1

Click here to sign the petition: Demand that our elected leaders remove every Confederate symbol in America.

We must take down the symbols of the Confederacy from any place of honor. Confederate statues must be rightfully recognized as a symbol of white supremacy and its current political power. White supremacist terrorists in Charlottesville were willing to kill in the name of these symbols. Take 'em ALL down!

Dear MoveOn member,

Now is the time to intensify the pressure to remove confederate statues across America.

Baltimore, Maryland, and Los Angeles, California, have already removed monuments to the Confederacy. The mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, announced that his city would remove two statues. And New Jersey's Senator Cory Booker is introducing a measure to remove Confederate statues from the U.S. Capitol.

But we can't be satisfied until all of these symbols are removed all across the country. Our campaign is gaining momentum and this is a critical moment to push for action against these monuments to white supremacy.

Will you add your name to our petition to demand that our elected leaders take 'em ALL down?

Last weekend, in Charlottesville, a white supremacist rammed a car into a group of peaceful protesters and killed one person. The night before, white nationalists marched through Charlottesville communities and the University of Virginia campus, rallying around a statue of the Confederacy and carrying torches evoking a history of violent racial terrorism.2 Emboldened by Trump, white supremacists are now acting to intimidate us from removing symbols of white supremacy.

But we won't stop working to remove every single Confederate symbol in America. And as each news cycle demonstrates, the movement to remove these symbols is gaining energy with elected officials and grassroots activists around the country!

Will you sign and share the petition to take 'em ALL down? Click here to join the campaign to remove every Confederate symbol in America.

Since Dylann Roof massacred churchgoers at Mother Emanuel AME, we have been organizing around the nation to remove symbols of the Confederacy from any place of honor in America. In response, white supremacists are rallying around Confederate statues and using them as a pretext to commit domestic terrorism and murder.

We cannot allow these white supremacist terrorists to intimidate us from confronting and working to dismantle systemic white supremacy.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

We must work to end the influence of today's white supremacists. Removing all Confederate statues would be the first step in sending the message that we are no longer honoring white supremacy at a societal level. We've already seen progress in Tampa, Florida, and New Orleans, Louisiana, where Confederate symbols are being removed by Black-led organizing in the face of sustained white supremacist opposition.

Sign the petition and tell elected officials: It's time to remove all Confederate statues in America.

Thanks.

Censure. Impeach. Remove.

This past weekend, a mob of white men marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, carrying flaming torches and shouting "Heil Trump." As a columnist in The Washington Post said, Trump might as well have "lit every one of those torches in Charlottesville."

Dear MoveOn member,

This past weekend, a mob of white men marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, carrying flaming torches and shouting, "Heil, Trump!"As a columnist in The Washington Post said, Trump might as well have "lit every one of those torches in Charlottesville."2

And now, after this weekend's horrific murder, Trump just keeps piling on the hate. Yesterday he again cast blame on "all sides" and refused to disavow his advisers with ties to white supremacist organizations.

Not only did Trump stoke the fires of racism and white supremacy to get elected, but once in office, he chose white supremacists Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Stephen Miller to be among some of his closest White House advisers.

That's why we're launching an emergency campaign to demand that lawmakers

1. Censure Donald Trump. Censure is a formal, public statement of disapproval that requires a vote by Congress. A bipartisan vote would send a strong message to Trump and the world that his behavior is unacceptable and doesn't represent American values.

2. Begin the impeachment process. For months now, we've been demanding that Congress begin the process to remove Donald Trump from office. Yesterday's behavior was yet another example of just how unfit he is for the office of the presidency. And how urgently impeachment is needed.

3. Remove Trump's white supremacist advisers from the White House. Congress controls Trump's budget, which gives them tacit control of his staffing and the power to demand the removal of white supremacist advisers from their positions.

Will you chip in $3 to help launch and drive forward the campaign to kick hate out of the White House?

Our work ahead won't be easy. But we have no choice but to work as hard as we can for as long as it takes—to condemn, isolate, and ultimately remove racist, neo-Nazi sympathizers from the White House and confront the stain of white supremacy wherever it appears in our country.

Here's some of what we're doing together already:

  • Demanding that Congress immediately censure Donald Trump, and begin an impeachment inquiry.
  • Standing with and amplifying the calls from allies and members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who are condemning hate, calling for congressional hearings, and demanding the immediate removal of Trump's white supremacist advisers.3
  • Cohosting a huge Sunday night call to identify ways all of us can engage in the essential work of dismantling systemic white supremacy and its symbols in America.
  • Growing MoveOn's proven Video Lab—which uses compelling and accessible fact-based content to cut through smoke screens and lies about Bannon, Gorka, Miller, the rise of hate groups since Election Day, and Trump's own hatemongering—and has already generated more than 300 million views in just over a year.

MoveOn members have opposed Trump's top white nationalist adviser, Steve Bannon, since the beginning. We issued a clarion call of outrage mere hours after Trump's announcement that he had appointed Bannon as a special adviser—and we've demanded his removal ever since.

In December, we worked tenaciously with more than a dozen allies to deliver more than one million petition signatures to Congress, putting lawmakers on notice by channeling grassroots fury and pressure. And we promised that we would not yield. Then, alongside veterans groups, MoveOn members campaigned for Bannon's immediate removal from the all-too-powerful National Security Council and cheered together when he was finally ousted.4

And then in June, we demanded that Congress launch an impeachment inquiry over Trump's flagrant abuse of power.

We know that our non-stop organizing is making a difference.

Trump's approval ratings are tanking. Media reports indicate that Bannon is on thin ice, openly reviled as the "lunatic fringe."And lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are speaking out against hate—but not nearly enough. Speaking out ourselves, and making sure our lawmakers join in and then take meaningful action, is what we must do.

With your help, it's time to expand our efforts to demand the formal censure of Trump, to redouble our efforts to push for an impeachment inquiry, and to demand the removal of not just Bannon, but of Gorka and Miller, too—men who are equally dangerous.

We don't have a moment to lose: news reports indicate that "alt-right" gatherings are spiking across the U.S.6

It's time to censure and remove the "alt-right's" most powerful and dangerous champions from inside the White House—before this toxic tidal wave gains more ground.

Will you chip in $3 and join MoveOn's ongoing effort to kick hate out of the White House?

Yes, I'll chip in.

Thanks for all you do.

Sign the petition: Censure Donald Trump

Congress must show that all Americans speak with once voice in rejecting the "alt-right," neo-Nazis, and white supremacy.

BREAKING: At a press conference tonight, Donald Trump doubled down on his vile refusal to condemn white supremacist terrorism in Charlottesville, VA. He said that there were "fine people" in the white supremacist rally and blamed "both sides" for the violence and hate witnessed on all of our TV screens.1

Sign the petition: Congress must immediately censure Trump over his failure to denounce white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

Dear MoveOn member,

Former KKK grand wizard David Duke said what he saw in Charlottesville, VA, last weekend "fulfills the promises of Donald Trump."2

White supremacists, neo-Nazis, and members of the "alt-right," chanted "Heil Trump!" while marching through the streets of Charlottesville; they injured dozens of demonstrators. The rally led to an act of domestic terrorism that killed a woman peacefully standing up to white supremacy.3

But all that Donald Trump could muster in response was one weak statement where he seemed to call out the white supremacist movement. Yet, he also tweeted a picture of a "Trump Train" smashing into a CNN reporter today, which bore a chilling resemblance to this weekend's brutal terrorist attack.4 And then at a press conference tonight, he, once again, blamed bigotry and violence on "many sides."5

Trump's response is horrifying and unacceptable, which is why we're calling on Congress to formally censure him for refusing to explicitly call out white supremacy and call it terrorism. Will you join us by signing this petition?

Censure is a formal, public statement of disapproval that requires a vote by Congress.

A bipartisan vote would send a strong message to Trump and the world that his behavior is unacceptable and doesn't represent American values. Several Republicans have spoken out already. That's a start, but it's not enough.

Click here to sign the petition demanding that Congress formally vote to censure Donald Trump, and then pass it along to your friends.

Why won't Trump condemn these white supremacist terrorists? Is it because they're part of the coalition that got him elected? Is it because he has advisers in his White House who are close to these hateful and violent groups? Is it because his campaign fueled the climate in which hate groups like these thrive and commit violence in the open?

Congress must vote to formally censure Trump. We must show that Americans speak with one voice in rejecting the alt-right, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists by formally censuring Trump in both houses of Congress.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks for all you do.
