President Palin?

Dear MoveOn member,

President Palin.

Think it can't happen? Well, then, you better watch this video.

It's funny and scary, and the future will thank you.

Dear MoveOn member,

MoveOn call parties were a smashing success—just yesterday we broke through our goal of 500,000 calls. Thanks so much for partying yesterday!

Our call parties are over. But there are 60 hours to go until the polls close on Tuesday—AND WE NEED TO KEEP MAKING CALLS TO WIN. This is the most important time to make sure campaigns are flooded with volunteers, and our online tool lets you call right from home with your computer.

Can you sign up to make as many calls as possible from home between now and Tuesday night?

Because you're already an experienced caller, it's really important that you get on the phone—you know how rewarding it feels to get a fellow MoveOn member signed up to volunteer.

As a special bonus, everyone who makes 100 calls or more today will get a special "MoveOn Top Caller" T-shirt! Can you make calls?

Thanks for all you do.

How was your Restore Sanity call party?

Dear MoveOn Member,

Thanks for signing up to attend a Restore Sanity call party. We'll send you an update Monday morning with the final tally of calls we made.

Dear MoveOn member,

Do you want to help save progressives on Tuesday? And do you have about 20 seconds to spare? Then please share our new video on Facebook.

It's short, really funny, and most important, designed to urge your friends to get out and vote on Tuesday. Can you take a second to post it to Facebook right now? Click here:

Studies show that this kind of social "nudging" is one of the most effective ways to get people out to vote. This video is a great way to deliver that nudge—plus, it's really fun.

Thanks.

IMPORTANT: Our Restore Sanity call party is today!

Dear MoveOn member,

I'm the host of our Restore Sanity call partythere are only 3 days left until the election, so I'm really counting on you to make it to our party today. We need to do everything we can this final weekend to stop the Republican takeover of Congress, but we'll have a great time too while watching highlights of the Rally to Restore Sanity.

We'll also watch a video from actress Olivia Wilde (from the TV show House), just for our Restore Sanity call parties. She's sending an urgent message from a frightening future where Sarah Palin is President and RepubliCorp controls everything. It's about saving our future and the importance of stopping the takeover, so I guess we'd better watch it (and if you haven't seen the awesome original video from Olivia sent to MoveOn members earlier this week, check it out here).

Here are the details for our party:

Get out the Vote Rockaway

Here are a couple of final reminders before you come over:

  • Bring your cell phone and charger. We're making calls to other MoveOn members. I'll take care of printing materials. Your biggest responsibility is bringing yourself and a cell phone if you have one. (If you don't have one, let me know so I can help find an extra one for you.) Bring your phone charger in case your battery gets low, and bring an extra phone if you can.

  • Invite a few friends. This is our final weekend to stop Republicans from taking over Congress, so make sure your friends, neighbors, and co-workers know that they can still help out this election by coming to our Restore Sanity call party. Go to our party page to invite friends to join you. From this page, you can also update your sign-up information or contact me. Just make sure that anyone you get to join you RSVPs online. You can also invite friends through Facebook and Twitter! Click here to invite a friend or two:

Update: New polling

Dear MoveOn member,

If you read one thing about the election today, read this:

The New York Times' chief polling analyst just wrote, "If our forecasts turn out to be biased against Democrats by just 2 points overall, the party becomes about an even-money bet to hold the House." (And then they'd almost certainly keep the Senate, too.)

So a Democratic gain of 2 percentage points is enough to stop the takeover of Congress. And historically, a strong get-out-the-vote push can deliver at least that much on Election Day.

That's why this weekend MoveOn members are gathering at more than 350 call parties nationwide for a huge final push to turn out volunteers for Democrats in key races. And we'll have some fun watching highlights of Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity before hitting the phones.

There's a "Restore Sanity Party" near you in Far Rockaway on Saturday. Our goal is to make 100,000 calls to other MoveOn members asking them to volunteer—but to do that, we need 709 more people at parties.

This election is still very winnable, and this weekend is the most critical of the entire election season. Can you come to the call party on Saturday and help sign up volunteers in key races? Click below to RSVP:

Yes, I'll be there on Saturday

Sorry, I can't make it

Hope you can make it to the party! And forward this email to friends—just one person can make dozens of calls. And in races as close as we'll see on Election Day, every volunteer is crucial.

Thanks for all you do.

–Kat, Carrie, Wes, Duncan, and the rest of the team

P.S. Going to the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in D.C. this Saturday? Join up with other MoveOn folks! You can meet up with us anytime between 11-4 at our MoveOn meetup spot, where we're giving out free hot chocolate to the crowd. And if you're willing to dress up as a corporate lobbyist, please join our "RepubliCorp" contingent at 10AM and have fun highlighting the corporate front groups trying to buy the election. Come to my party in Far Rockaway on Saturday?

Hi,

We're just 5 days from the election, and dozens of races could come down to just a handful of votes. We could end up with narrow Democratic wins in a ton of close races, or a Republican takeover of our government, and it all comes comes down to which side has more volunteers getting out the vote.

I'm not going to let right-wing Republicans take over Congress.

So I'm hosting an election call party on Saturday in Far Rockaway. I'm inviting people over to make calls to sign up volunteers for our candidates.

I can't do it alone. So if you've got a couple hours to spare this weekend—or even if you don't!--please, please, please come to my party. It's up to all of us in the next 5 days.

Click below to RSVP:

Yes, I'll be there!

The situation is definitely serious—but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun, too. Since we'll be gathering the same weekend as Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity is happening in Washington, D.C., we'll watch highlights of the rally and hang out before making calls. I'm even calling it a "Restore Sanity Party"—one of hundreds happening across the country this weekend.

So will you come? Help stop the Republican takeover and restore some sanity to our country—you won't regret it.

Yes, I'll be there!

Hope to see you on Saturday.

You can't stomp on me

Upload your photo to tell Rand Paul and the tea party "You can't stomp on me."

Upload your photo

Dear MoveOn member,

The three of us, as leaders of different organizations, don't normally write you together, but something has happened that affects all of us as progressives and all women in this country.

Monday night outside a senatorial debate in Kentucky, 23-year-old Lauren Valle was trying to get a picture with Rand Paul and her satirical sign when she was thrown to the ground by a group of men and, while she was pinned to the ground, one of the men intentionally stomped on her head. Video caught the whole thing. Lauren was left with a concussion.1

While what happened to Lauren has happened to too many political protesters recently, what came next is an affront—and feels chillingly familiar—to us, as women. The Paul campaign worker who stomped on Lauren's head demanded she apologize, saying "she instigated it!"2

The Tea Party has shown it wants to return us to a time when overt racism is considered acceptable civil discourse. And if women get hurt, well they must have done something to deserve it. This stops here and now.

Join us in telling Rand Paul and the Tea Party: "If you stomp on me, 1,000 more will take my place" by uploading a picture of yourself holding a sign saying "You can't stomp on me." Click here to upload your picture or just add your name:

http://pol.moveon.org/cantstomp?id=24733-10220574-1GwOn4x&t=5

By uploading your picture, you can show that your voice will not be silenced even in the face of intimidating and thuggish behavior. We'll put all the photos in one public place as a statement of solidarity with Lauren and a promise to keep speaking out.

Think about a woman you love—a daughter, a friend, your mother—and picture her being attacked in this way. Picture yourself being attacked. If we don't stop this now, who will?

The man who attacked Lauren was Rand Paul's county campaign chair at the time.3 But Paul's initial reaction to the videotaped assault was to say, "There was a crowd control problem."4

Then finally when pressed to address the violence he issued a statement that read: "Whatever the perceived provocation, any level of aggression or violence is deplorable, and will not be tolerated by our campaign."5

Rand Paul has thus far refused to apologize directly to the victim or condemn his supporters who are literally blaming her and smearing her character in an attempt to distract attention from the most salient fact—a group of men had Valle pinned down and one of the men intentionally stomped on her head.

Violence has been far too prevalent this entire election season, with both men and women getting roughed up by right-wing thugs. But when three men gang up on one woman and then one claims she asked for it, well, that's a whole other class of hatred that we have to call out.

As women, writing the e-mail, we won't stand for it. And we know many men reading this agree. We all have the right to protest in public places. And we all have not only the right but the duty to go squarely after those who dare to say we deserve it when cowardly thugs attack us for standing up for what we believe. And mostly, we all across this country need to say this is outrageous, and we're not going to let them get away with this.

Join us in telling Rand Paul and the Tea Party: "You can't stomp on me." If you do, 1,000 more will take my place.

Sorry, I can't make it this time.

What: With the election just 6 days away, this weekend is our last chance to help progressive heroes and other brave Democrats win on Election Day! So while thousands gather in Washington for Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity, we'll join in the fun locally by having a "Restore Sanity" call party in Valley Stream on Saturday--first watching the rally together, and then doing our part for sanity by stopping the Republican takeover.

A note from the MoveOn staff: Late Monday night, we got a call informing us that Lauren Valle, a MoveOn supporter, was attacked by campaign volunteers for Rand Paul, the Republican Senate candidate in Kentucky. The video is pretty awful: Three men threw Lauren to the ground, held her down, and stomped on her head and neck. She ended up in the hospital with a concussion. She's still recovering, but she's already speaking out about what happened—and pressing charges against her attackers, at least one of whom is so unrepentant he just demanded an apology from Lauren.

This is upsetting and outrageous and fundamentally anti-democratic. What's worse, it's part of a growing pattern of right-wing violence and intimidation, fueled by violent rhetoric from Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, and others.

Here's the thing, folks: we can't let this intimidate us or derail us (which is the intent, after all). Instead, let's work even harder over the next week to defeat the candidates that are stirring up hate. Lauren's not stopping, and we won't either.

If you want to make a contribution in Lauren's name to support Jack Conway (the MoveOn-endorsed Democrat she was trying to help when she was attacked), click here:

Hey--you're in this video

Dear MoveOn member,

Voting is important. But somehow this year it doesn't feel as important as it did in 2008, right?

WRONG!

Here's a message from the future about what will happen if you and your friends don't vote on November 2 (hint: it's not pretty).

You're actually in this video message—so we wanted to make sure you saw it.

Last chance in Inwood

Dear MoveOn member,

This is it. Our last chance.

With 8 days until the election, this weekend really is our last chance to help Progressive Heroes and brave Democrats in close races. They urgently need volunteers to get out the vote and fend off a Republican takeover.

So we're holding hundreds of call parties on Saturday, October 30th, to help sign up campaign volunteers—but we still need a host in Inwood.

This is it—we all need to pitch in. Can you host a call party in Inwood on Saturday?

Click to host a call party

To make this urgent day of action a lot of fun, we're holding our parties on the same day as Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington, D.C. So we're calling ours "Restore Sanity Call Parties," and people will watch the rally on TV or online before getting down to work making the calls to turn out volunteers.

With dozens of races likely to come down to the wire, every call this weekend is critical. Just think about the last few elections. Sen. Al Franken won by 312 votes in 2008, and Rep. Tom Perriello won by 727 votes. And Rep. Joe Courtney defeated his opponent by just 83 votes in 2006!

By hosting a party, you can play a major role in turning out the volunteers who will get out the vote in this year's make-or-break races. But we need a host in Inwood—can you sign up to hold a "Restore Sanity" party?

Yes, I'll host a Restore Sanity call party

Thanks for all you do

No more emails

With 9 days to go, we still haven't raised all the funds we need for our big election plan. Back in September when we announced our plan, you pledged to donate $75. If you fulfill your pledge today, we'll stop asking for money and focus 100% on stopping the takeover.

Donate

Dear MoveOn member,

Let me get straight to the point: Right now there are just 9 days left until the election, and we haven't raised all the funds we need for our big election plan.

That means that instead of focusing 100% on how we can stop the Republicans from taking over Congress, we're still spending time figuring out how to bring in additional resources.

So, we'll make you a deal: If you fulfill your $75 election pledge today, we'll stop asking you for money for the rest of the election and focus on stopping the takeover. Deal? Just click here:

Yes, I'll donate $75 today to fulfill my pledge for this election.

I can't fulfill my pledge, or I've already donated.

Back in September when we announced this plan and you made your pledge, we knew this election would be close. But in these final few days, things have really tightened: There are still lots of House races that MoveOn members can swing, and we're especially focused on the Senate, where pretty much every competitive race is closer now than it was two weeks ago. We've got a hugely ambitious campaign for the final push:

  • Making 500,000 phone calls into key states and congressional districts. We made over 80,000 phone calls last week!
  • Recruiting a massive wave of grassroots volunteers to help get out the vote for candidates from coast to coast.
  • Defending our Progressive Heroes—going all out to save Sen. Russ Feingold, Sen. Barbara Boxer, Rep. Alan Grayson, Alexi Giannoulias, and Rep. Tom Perriello.
  • Exposing the corporate money behind the Republicans by airing hard-hitting ads and organizing local MoveOn members to show up at all their campaign events. We've already gotten great coverage in communities from Pasadena, CA, to Harrisburg, PA.

The time has come for us to determine how much more we can afford to spend on this campaign. If you make a donation today, it will help ensure that we're able to do everything possible to stop the takeover. Plus: no more emails asking you for money for the rest of the election!

Click here to chip in and fulfill your pledge:

https://pol.moveon.org/donate/finalpush2010.html?bg_id=hpc5&id=24582-10220574-Aakz21x&t=5

With 9 days days to go, it's time to do everything we can to win this one. It's possible to turn the tide. But we all need to work together to do it.

Thanks for all you do,

–Justin, Michael, Peter, Eli, and the rest of the team

P.S. You have to check out this amazing ad that MoveOn members like you made in Illinois, the closest Senate race in the country. Calling to Restore Sanity

Dear MoveOn member,

With 10 days left until the election, polls show that Republicans could be on the verge of taking over Congress.

Jon Stewart is right: We desperately need to restore sanity in this country. But a rally alone isn't gonna do it—we've got to do everything we can between now and Election Day.

So on Saturday, October 30th, MoveOn members are gathering at hundreds of "Restore Sanity" parties where we'll watch Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity happening live in Washington, D.C., and then call other MoveOn members who live near critical congressional races and sign them up to get out the vote.

People need a place to gather in Inwood—can you open up your home to host a Restore Sanity call party on October 30th? Click here to sign up:

Yes, I can host a Restore Sanity Watch and Call Party

Hosting is fun and simple—check out what one new host had to say:

"I had questions about the process, so, I attended a call party. The people there were very friendly, informative and made me feel at home. It was there I made the decision to host. It's so simple. Don't hesitate, let's get busy. Remember, united we stand!"

Anyone can do it—and it makes a huge impact. This is our last chance to turn out volunteers that could help make the difference in crucial races—so please, sign up to host today! Click here:

A personal note

MoveOn member,

I know you've been swamped with emails these past couple weeks—but I wanted to send you a special note because this is really critical.

Our call party program is working. We've already recruited thousands of volunteers who will be critical to our progressive heroes winning their races. But we can't stop now—not with the final most important days of get-out-the-vote ahead of us.

Whether you've already volunteered or been waiting for the right moment, our heroes need you to help out this weekend. There's a party in Jamaica on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at 4:00 PM. Can you take 2 minutes to watch a special message from Senator Al Franken and then sign up to attend? Click here:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=109484&video=1&id=24513-10220574-zB6gRux&t=1

Sen. Franken's message to us is a really great reminder about how important every single volunteer and every single vote can be in a given race. Why Senator Franken? In 2008, with the help of countless MoveOn members, he won his senate race by just 312 votes. So he knows firsthand about how big of a difference volunteers can make in close races like his.

Come to my party in Jamaica on Saturday?

This is a note for you from TEMBA A., a MoveOn member in Jamaica hosting a call party this Saturday:

Hi,

I'm throwing a party with an urgent purpose in Jamaica on Saturday and I'm hoping you can come.

The election is just 12 days away, and there are big races around the country that are really, really close. We can't sit back and let the Republicans take over! We just can't.

So people are gathering at my party to make phone calls to other MoveOn members and sign them up to volunteer in the most important races. It's pretty great that we can use a simple cell phone to fight giant corporations with bottomless checkbooks—and have fun with like-minded neighbors while doing it.

Please, if you possibly can, come to the party. Time is short. Just RSVP at the link below—and send this email to your friends and ask them to come, too:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=109484&id=24479-10220574-ECGHS9x&t=1

Also at the party, MoveOn is giving us a way to hear from great progressive leaders in close races, including Russ Feingold and Alan Grayson, plus a special message from Nancy Pelosi. Should be inspiring.

Hope to see you there,

–TEMBA

Can't let them lose

Dear MoveOn member,

The last several days have brought some really bad news: Many of the best Democrats are trailing, and Republicans are now within reach of taking over the Senate.

That means Democratic control of the Senate is likely to come down to just a handful of races, including these three which are basically tied but still very winnable:

  • Illinois—Alexi Giannoulias: Every poll in this race for two months has been tied. It's the closest Senate race in the country and Alexi is a real progressive fighter.
  • Washington—Patty Murray: Murray is the highest-ranking Democratic woman in the Senate. She's been narrowly ahead, but with lots of secret outside money attacking her, her seat is still at serious risk.
  • Colorado—Michael Bennet: Outside interests are spending $750,000 each day in the race, but Bennet has been gaining on his extreme right-wing opponent, and the polls are now showing a statistical dead heat.

If Republicans win all of these seats, they'll likely gain control of the Senate. Last week MoveOn members donated almost $500,000 to swing-state Senate candidates, but big corporations are still flooding Illinois, Washington state, and Colorado with campaign cash—and the Republicans have a $5 million advantage in these races.1

With only two weeks left until Election Day, these campaigns are about to make their final spending decisions—and so they need more donations immediately. Can you chip in to help out?

http://pol.moveon.org/give/savethesenate.html?aa=5&id=24428-10220574-MiiBw3x&t=1

Here's more about these three candidates in tight races who need our help right now:

We've added Alexi Giannoulias to our Progressive Heroes list because this race is so important, and because he's running a populist campaign focused on taking on the corporate special interests and cleaning up Washington, D.C.

Sen. Patty Murray supported the public option, fought for clean energy jobs, and has worked with other pro-choice Democratic women senators to eliminate egregious gender disparities in insurance coverage. Her Republican challenger significantly out-raised her in the last three months, and Murray needs our help to win.

Sen. Michael Bennet has been steadily closing in on his Republican opponent, Ken Buck, so the race is now a statistical dead heat. Bennet wants to create clean energy jobs for Colorado and improve access to health care.

Can you chip in to these candidates' campaigns and help stop the takeover?

Emergency: All hands on deck

Dear MoveOn member,

Time is running out.

With the election only 15 days away, Russ Feingold, Alan Grayson, and many other progressive leaders in Congress are trailing in the polls and could lose their seats if we don't change things up—fast.1

The only way these progressive leaders can beat back the Republican wave is with an army of volunteers big enough to go out there and drag each and every voter to the polls on Election Day. So next weekend, we're organizing hundreds of parties where we'll call MoveOn members and sign them up to volunteer to get out the vote.

But we still need someone to host a call party in Inwood next weekend—can you help? We know there are lots of people in the area willing to make calls—they just need a place to do it! Click here to sign up to host:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24341-10220574-61FLktx&t=1

Every volunteer we recruit next weekend means more voters to the polls in November. And in an election where dozens of races could come down to just a few votes, this is what we have to do to stop the takeover.

Thanks for all you do.

Can we use your house next weekend?

MoveOn member—

Can you host a "Save our Heroes" call party next weekend?

With only a couple of weeks left until Election Day, voters in states from coast to coast have already started to vote early—and campaigns urgently need volunteers to get out and talk to voters who are starting to hand in their ballots.

So on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24, thousands of MoveOn members are gathering at "Save our Heroes" call parties across the country to call MoveOn members in key states and sign them up to volunteer to help stop the Republicans from taking over Congress.

You've already attended a call party this month so you know how fun and powerful they can be. Can you help out by hosting a party of your own in Inwood next weekend? Click here to post your party:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24299-10220574-EUT0kXx&t=1

We'll kick off the weekend with a live conference call featuring our newest progressive hero, Alexi Giannoulias, who is running for President Obama's old Senate seat. The call is on Saturday at 6 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. MT / 3 p.m. PT). So we're encouraging everyone who can to have their parties then. (Of course, if you can't, you should still plan a party—we'll share a recording of the call.)

Hosting is simple, but so important. All you need to do is choose a location and time and post it in our online system. We'll help invite other MoveOn members in your area to attend and send you instructions on how to print out lists of whom to call, a script for what to say on the phone, and all the info you need.

Can you help out? Click here to post your party.

Thanks so much for all you do.

Biggest weekend of action yet

Time is running out to save our heroes and help dozens of other brave Democrats win on November 2nd. So we're mobilizing for our biggest weekend of action yet this year. Can you host a "Save our Heroes" call party in Inwood on Oct. 23rd or 24th?

Host a party
Dear MoveOn member,

Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Alan Grayson, Tom Perriello, and other progressive leaders have a Republican bull's-eye on their backs this election year. And polls show many bold progressives are in real danger of losing in November—unless we all step up right away to save them.1

In short: Our heroes are in trouble—can you host a party next weekend to help them?

These are heroes like Sen. Feingold, who stood alone in voting against the PATRIOT Act just days after 9/11, and Sen. Boxer, a leader on climate change and protecting a woman's right to choose. And like Rep. Perriello, who stood tall against Big Insurance during the health care debate, and Rep. Grayson, a populist hero who's never afraid to call out the pernicious corporate influence in Washington.

Without them in Congress, it'll be easier for Republicans and their corporate allies to steamroll awful legislation—because often what it takes is the leadership of a brave and bold progressive to stop the madness.

We simply can't let them lose on November 2nd. So we're gearing up for the biggest weekend of action yet this election year: "Save our Heroes" house parties next weekend. We'll recruit volunteers to help get out the vote for our heroes and dozens of other Democrats nationwide. These campaigns urgently need help to reach all their targeted voters, so we've set an ambitious goal of 500 parties and 150,000 recruitment calls. We'll need everyone to pitch in to meet that goal!

Can you sign up to host a Save our Heroes call party in Inwood on Oct. 23rd or 24th? Click here to sign up:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24240-10220574-buNfh1x&t=4

We'll have help making these parties really special directly from some of our heroes—like Alexi Giannoulias, a 34-year-old progressive champion running for President Obama's former Illinois Senate seat. Giannoulias, who's in the closest Senate race of the year, will connect to the parties live for a conference call Saturday at 6 p.m. eastern. So we're encouraging everyone who can to have their parties then. (Of course, if you can't, you should still plan a party—we'll share a recording of the call.)

Hosting is simple, but so important. By hosting, you're giving other progressives in the area a place to come together to take action, multiplying your own impact and helping stop the takeover.

Here's how it works:

  • You choose a location—your house, a friend's, a room at a local community center—for people to hang out and make calls. Then we'll email other MoveOn members nearby to invite them—and you can invite your friends, too, of course.
  • We'll send you info on how to join the call with Alexi Giannoulias on Saturday, or how to listen to the recording if your party is at another time. And stay tuned—we'll have more news on other progressive heroes' participation coming soon.
  • We'll send you instructions on how to get lists of who to call, a script for what to say on the phone, and all the info you need. And on the day of your party, we have live volunteer support via phone or email.

This will be our biggest weekend of action yet—if we all pitch in. Can you host a party in Inwood? Click here:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24240-10220574-buNfh1x&t=5

Party on Saturday!

This is a note for you from Valerie J., another MoveOn member in Brooklyn:

Hi there,

Like you, I'm a MoveOn member. On Saturday in Brooklyn, I'm throwing an "Eat, Call, Win!' party to help stop Republicans from taking over Congress this election. Can you come? Click here to RSVP.

The polling keeps getting scarier. The New York Times just reported Republicans could gain nearly 50 seats in the House—more than enough to take control. And we might even lose the Senate!

But the good news is that a ton of us are already getting mobilized to make sure that doesn't happen. This weekend—inspired by the book and movie Eat, Pray, Love—hundreds of people are holding parties just like mine, where we'll call other MoveOn members living near Democrats in close races and sign them up to volunteer.

If you haven't had a chance to volunteer yet this election year, now's the time. And if you have, please get active again! Just grab your cell phone and charger, and a dessert to share if you can, and come over. And invite your friends (just forward this email so I know who's coming)—the more the merrier.

Here are the details:

MoveOn "Eat, Call, Win!" Party
Where: Brooklyn (in Brooklyn)
When:
Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 4:00 PM

Can you come? Click here to RSVP:

Emergency: Save the Senate

Republicans are now within reach of taking over the Senate. It's likely to come down to just three races that are tied and where MoveOn members can make the difference. This is a true emergency—please make a contribution immediately, before tonight's fundraising deadline.

Dear MoveOn member,

There's no point in sugarcoating this: If the election were held today, Republicans and their corporate benefactors would gain control of the House—and quite possibly the Senate.

That's the nightmare scenario. It would spell an end to any hope of progress in the next two years—and quite possibly to Obama's presidency.

But there are three key races that Republicans would have to win to take the Senate, and all are tied. Meaning, they're close enough for us to tip the balance. We need to help these Democratic candidates raise enough money to get their message out—despite all the corporate ads targeting them—and run serious get-out-the-vote efforts.

This is a true emergency: We must stop the Republicans from taking over the Senate. There's a critical fundraising deadline at midnight tonight. Please, make the most generous contribution you can afford, immediately:

https://pol.moveon.org/give/savethesenate.html?aa=5&id=24154-10220574-BdnRtWx&t=3

Here are the three progressive candidates in tight races who need our help right now:

We're adding Alexi Giannoulias in Illinois to our Progressive Heroes list today because he's locked in a tight race for President Obama's old Senate seat, and because he's running a populist campaign focused on taking on the corporate special interests and cleaning up Washington, D.C. This is the closest race in the country: Every poll in this race for the past two months has been tied.

Sen. Patty Murray

is the highest-ranking Democratic woman in the Senate. She supported the public option and the fight for clean energy jobs, and has worked with other pro-choice Democratic women senators to eliminate egregious gender disparities in insurance coverage. Her Republican challenger significantly out-raised her in the last three months, and Murray needs our help to win.

And Sen. Harry Reid in Nevada is facing Sharron Angle, the tea party fanatic who wants to "phase out" Social Security and Medicare, withdraw from the United Nations, and abolish the Department of Education. The latest polls show her tied—or even slightly ahead, and just yesterday her campaign announced that they've raised a record-breaking $14 million in the past three months.2

Can you chip in to these candidates' campaigns and help stop the takeover?
