Is Spring ever going to come?

Just when I was happily taking out my capris, skirts, and shorts (making sure I am still able to get into them post-partum). This (the above) greeted me at the window when I got out of bed this morning. We have snow. Again? The temperature was getting comfortable in the last 2 weeks with an average of 8-10degrees celsius on some days with occasional sunshine which made it an absolutely fabulous 'walking weather'. Lucas & I had made it to a number of trails in the last 2 weeks, and I was beginning to get excited about Spring.

It did look pretty from the window. Guess I will stay indoors today. It has been a rough morning trying to get Lucas to take his morning nap. He must have begun to enjoy listening to his own voice as his cries and cooing are getting louder. We heard his first laugh this morning as Daddy was doing the boogie boogie to some song on the radio I don't even remember now. All I heard was Lucas' giggle which turned into a laughter that sounded like loud hiccups.

Sweet! Babies & Goodies

They meet. Finally. Lucas' first gal-friend, Viola. Born 12 days apart, they make their first greetings @ 2 months+ of age. Hey, Lucas, be gentle!

Can I be your friend? Lucas meets Miwa.

We had a wonderful CNY tea party @ LianEng & Rob's place yesterday. Kudos to LianEng for making those yummy goodies & food. We had our pickings of the traditional CNY goodies like pineapple tarts, kueh bangkit, almond cookies, love letters, kueh lapis & of course...bak kwa (pork jerky)!!
Ah...and thank you baby Miles for your kisses. muacks!

Lucas goes to America

Can I eat now?
Lucas first travel. We drove across the border yesterday. Didn't make it to Seattle downtown. Went to Marysville, WA, did some shopping and had lunch @ Red Lobster.
As you can see, Lucas is starting young with a love for food. Just like his Daddy.

I will have it raw, thank you

Raw fish is one of my fave food. Anything sashimi really. Amaebi is a must-have for me when I am having sashimi. 9 months without it, torture. Especially when it is also Edwin's fave food and I can only watch him devour the sashimi in his usual 'this is the best thing i had' manner. (for those who have had the opportuity to watch him eat, you will know what I mean..especially if you are watching him eat noodles)
Finally I am back to eating Sashimi. We went to our favourite Jap restaurant for lunch yesterday. It was a regular eat-out. No fancy presents, no candlelight, no flowers. Edwin doesnt believe in Valentine's Day, and I must have been brainwashed. When did I stop believing I should receive presents, flowers and a nice dinner or a back massage?

I realised I have tons of photos of Lucas. But hardly any of Lucas with Mommy! Desperate, I went for the camera. Quite a failed attempt with my short arms. We need to take a family photo soon.

Jab jab jab jab...just don't let me see you do it

This is Lucas minutes before 4 needles/injections were administered onto his chubby thighs.
All calm & serene.
Totally clueless.
Too bad there were no 'after' photos. We were too busy holding on to his arms & legs and hushing him. I refused to look at the needles. I never liked needles. Even the tiniest needle or smallest injection would have me kicking or release a scream. This, coming from someone who delivered a 7plus pounder with no epidural. Needles? My bubba? It was too much for me. My eyes were fixated at his face as it turned red steadily with the rise of his cries. He was fine as soon as he went back into his carseat. Slept all the way home.

Toy? What toy?

Our little bubba is already 2 months old! The past 8+ weeks seems like a blur to me. It's so true how fast our babies grow & change. Carrying the car seat has become quite a challenge with his steady weight gain. As he fills out, his neck is becoming stronger, and there is more 'bak' (flesh in hokkien) for me to cuddle & squeeze. It feels really nice now to hold him close to my body.

Lucas has finally made contact with his play mobile in his crib. He has started to stare, giggle and babble at the mobile. Before he was born, I had no clue what toys would amuse a baby. Shopping for toys was a huge challenge for me because I cannot imagine how a baby/kiddo would be interested in a squeaky toy or rattle. Why would a baby be intrigued by some moving stuff animals above his head playing the same sound over and over? But apparently, these toys do have the ability to connect with our babies.
I went on a rampage through all the toys (from family & friends) I had kept in Lucas' room. I need to experiment if any of the rattles, jiggly, squeaky toys would amuse Lucas.

I want my food...fast!

Give it to me fast! I find myself scouring the supermarket for fast quick fixes these days.
It's all about having our food made fast & easy. I have given up on the chopping, blending, hundred-and-one kind of spices and ingredients that normally go into chinese cuisine (those good authentic dishes I mean). Time is just not on my side these days. When I do have that extra (read bonus) time I would be clearing my work and emails or taking a nap with Lucas...or I would be taking a breather to connect with the outside world through my notebook.
We (Lucas & I) have started going out more often, taking short trips every other day. There are tons of activities and programs designed for Mom & Babies around here like the strollersizes, Salsa babies, Baby Talk, Nursery/Sing along sessions etc but it is sometimes quite a challenge to be at a certain location at a fixed time. My trips out has become quite an impromptu affair.
Valentine's Day is around the corner and we have an additional shipment coming in today. Looks like Mommy & Baby may have to work today. I am still waiting to see if I am able to get some help, otherwise, it will be Lucas' first day of work with Mommy this afternoon!

The Mohawk Attitude

We don't know what to do with Lucas' hair and we have no gel at home. Yes. No hair gel. No sticky cream or anything close. Edwin has never had anything (as well as my memory serves me) on his hair. Thank goodness. Those sticky hair stuff scares me. Although I am sure there are tons of great hair cream out there these days which are neither sticky nor smelly. But Lucas' hair stands pretty on its own. He has cultivated a mohawk hairdo plus an attitude to go with it.

Friends who have met Lucas have been amused by his double/triple chin. He is pretty proud of his asset at the moment.

We found out a couple of days back that Lucas' YeYe & MaMa might be visiting this Summer! Yeh!! After Lucas was born, I started feeling sad that our family in Singapore will not see him grow and he will not be able to play with his cousins. Guess we will have to shuttle back more often..but it being an average 16-hour flight..it's not really a shuttle back..

My little Prince

I am so in love with my little Prince. I can look into his face all day.
His Daddy believes in letting little bubba cry it out when he needs to, but Mommy is heartbroken when he cries for more than 5 minutes. His face turns red and his tears just breaks my heart.

Lucas has started interacting with us and it's truly an amazing feeling. It totally melts my heart when he looks into my eyes and shows me his cheeky grin. He makes funny sounds as if he is trying to speak to us. It's really exciting. But he has a habit of doing this actively @ 3a.m. which is not so fun then.
