Welp. 2 [exams] down, 2 to go . SIGH and bah.

Yesterday, while going through my law notes, I got kinda sick of them and decided to go to albinoblacksheep.com (Sarah's favourite website) for some mindless entertainment. Funny how when your brain is "saturated" (i wish Dumbledore would sell me his Pensieve) with law (or any other module/subject for that matter) facts, doing anything else would seem attractive. This includes but is not limited to:

1. Cleaning your room
2. Clearing your desk (wink wink yummiegummy)
3. Reading storybooks
4. Reading comics (wink wink Beckx)
5. Blogging (wink wink Morphus)
6. Studying for the next exam
7. Fantasizing about post-exam activities
8. Talking to your mother and updating her on your life (wink wink Morphus. But at least this is beneficial to one's family ties. =) )
9. Gymming (wink wink Morphus. Sadly my gym chooses the time when my stomach appears to be at an all-time bulging-est to renovate.)
10. Feasting/Fantasizing about feasting on whatever food you happen to crave for at the moment (wink wink Morphus. I been craving for chicken pie for the past few days yum yum. Weirdly, curry puffs from Old Chang Kee hit the spot too. And Sabby's latest blog post did NOT help things. Pepper lunch [had it for dinner] tastes great, but is not filling. Am hungry now. At 12.44 a.m..)

Anyway. Back to where I was. So I went to albinoblacksheep, looked at some of the flash movies which I'd seen before and remembered being amused by, and when they did not satisfy me I decided to try a new one entitled "Laid Off: A Day in the Life". It was quite funny and entertaining, and I was led to a website where I discovered that the creator of the flash had created sequels! In fact he had created almost an entire series. How thrilling.

And so, rubbing my hands together, I proceeded to watch them. The movies are pretty inspiring and motivating for a student studying for exams as they feature this unemployed guy and his sad day-to-day life. Hahaha. Check it out if you need a break and some comic relief. Beware, though. The guy talks like he's on drugs and he has this really amusing accent which I haven't identified yet but (rest assured) will learn to imitate.

Watching a few of the movies in the series kind of inspired me to do something like that if I had the time/inspiration. Oh well. Haha just a thought.

Funny how Sharina was just saying today that she likes the name Todd and yeah...guess what the website name is. Hahaha. The amazing littlecoincidences in life.

In other news, we got back our law CA2 (for which we had to create scenarios for certain rules we'd learnt in Legal System and Contracts), MMR research report and participation marks.

Did well for law (luckily), despite having dreamt of getting 65 marks for it last night. Pleased.

Btw (just to digress a little) I have this habit of only showing my mother the test papers for which I got excellent marks for. Hahahaah and thanks to my law CA1 test paper, my mum is currently under the impression that I am doing exceedingly well in school. Of course, other test papers in which I got trashy marks (e.g. ConB CA1: 50%) remain hurriedly shoved into some mum-proof file.

Out of sight, out of mind. Ostrich mentality-if I don't see the trashy marks, I didn't get them.

I feel like I'm losing grip of my principles and morals. How?! Death grip death grip hold on for dear life....

Went to my cousins' place to celebrate my paternal grandmother's birthday and also the mooncake festival. Ro dragged me downstairs with our other cousins and my 2 brothers to play with candles and paper lanterns. They started burning the lanterns, surprise surprise.

I watched as they played around with the candles, unwilling to join in for some reason. Then, Thomas had a brainwave. He stuck the candles to the wall, bent them a little and burnt the wax so that the wicks were exposed, then lit them. The flame ignited wax as it dripped, forming little pretty cannonballs that disappeared in mid-air. It was a real sight. I attempted to capture it with my cameraphone, but the effect didn't really come out. Oh well, as they say, some things can't be captured on camera .



Nevertheless, I still posted the picture in hopes that it'll provide some fodder for your imagination. The bright light is the flame of the candle, and the little curvy things south of the flame are the cannonballs. You should really try it out, it looks much better in real life.

Speaking of beautiful things, I saw a double rainbow on the way to my cousin's house. Sadly, it didn't bring me much luck. While we were making our way to the void deck to play with the lanterns and candles, I stepped into a drain. Luckily I decided to wear jeans today. I still got some bruises and scrapes, though. It always amazes me how drains are so rough that they can "penetrate" through cloth without tearing it to bruise your body.

I finally learnt how to use a lighter today. Stop laughing. Some of us aren't born with it, you know. However, in trying to light my grandmother's birthday cake, I accidentally burnt my finger as I was holding it the wrong way. Oopsy daisy, klutzy me. It added to the injuries I suffered tonight.

Oh well. At least we made our grandmother so happy by gathering to celebrate her birthday. I'd be on cloud nine too if I had a union of 3 (or is it 2?) generations to celebrate my birthday when I'm old. She was waving goodbye at us enthusiastically when we left for home. I couldn't help but notice that she'd lost a lot of weight since being hospitalised, though. Sigh. Oh well, at least she can walk with aid now.

Welp, I hope all of you reading this had a happy mooncake festival! Oh yes, and happy mugging =) !

Finally, all the projects are over. Sadly, I do not feel any sense of accomplishment, nor any pride in my DMA and MMR projects. But oh well. Can't expect too much for work that was rushed out at the last minute. "What if"'s only make life sadder and help people live in the past. At the very least, we can take comfort that we managed to complete the projects.

Once again a big shoutout to Sabby and family for being the perfect host (we stayed at her place on Wednesday to rush the DMA project), whether it was pouring drinks for us every hour, making sure we were comfortable (by offering me more comfortable chairs and making sure we at least had a mattress to sleep on =) ), cooking all those wonderful meals, the chips, the MTV, the company of your youngest siblings, etc. etc. etc. . I still think your house is gorgeous and full of life. Never a boring moment.

Sorry for imposing on you and any inconvenience caused by having a whole group of six cluttering up your home ;) . You and ur family certainly made the project-rushing much more comfortable and happy =) .

And also to Sonia and her parents, for providing their house as the meeting place for our weekend DMA meetings. Which always turned into watch-MTV-and-eat sessions. Hahaha.

To those in my group, thanks for being such stellar, exemplary, wonderful (and so on) group members and I look forward to working together with you gals again =) .

I have so many thoughts, beliefs, theories, philosophies etc. that run through my mind but can't be put into words. Sigh.

Yay! I am so glad that I can take a teeny little breather today and catch up with all my blog reading as well as update my blog. Though I really am supposed to be doing my Feature Writing article. Bah.

Anyway. Really glad that MMR/ConB project is finally done and dusted, though I must say that I think it could have been a lot better. But then again, it's over and handed in so I shall just be content that we managed to hand it in complete and on time.

In rushing for the MMR/ConB project from Thurs night to Fri morning, I (and my other group members) made a discovery about sleep deprivation: at its higher levels, you enter this state whereby you doze off without even knowing that you have and you have no idea which point you dozed off at. During the law lecture on Fri, Jia Ying and I found that we kept dozing off while writing down notes, thus making interesting scribbles on the notes instead of intelligible writing. The "scary" thing is that I think I am writing down notes when I'm actually asleep and then when I wake up, I find that all I've written are illegible scribbles. Horrible, horrible. But nevertheless an intriguing discovery.

Projects, exams and other causes of stress aside, let me share with you some visions of staggering adorable-ness:

I try to fight cynicism and maintain a positive outlook on life and people. Have I really stopped trying? I don't know. Have I stopped being naive and thinking that I can save the world? Is that considered being naive? I know not. So many unanswered questions, so many thoughts, so little light thrown on the answers.

Ah, but that's the way life is =) .

Ok. Nothing much else to talk about now. Back to fretting about Feature Writing, then. It's rainin', too. Get ur ass movin', May.

Today is September the 1st-Teacher's Day! Thus, I decided to take another break from staring at my Astro-Navigation notes in preparation of the online quiz and write a special dedication to all the teachers who've made my school life so much more bearable throughout the years.

Thank you Mrs Ee (Primary 3 English Teacher), for helping to develop a love for English in me at such a young age. She was, as far as I can remember, the first teacher who made me her pet. Hahahaha. Though I must say that no English teacher has ever disliked me throughout primary and secondary school *smirk*. But Mrs. Ee, she really doted on me. And her lessons were the first that made me feel that I was good at the language. I still have the book that she gave me, even though it's a really boring book.

Thank you Mrs Ng (Primary 3 Chinese Teacher). She was the kind of teacher who was really fierce but quite okay once you got to know her. She made me a librarian. I have her to thank for my librarian roots.

Thank you Miss Lisa Ng (Primary 4 Chinese Teacher), for always reminding me to stand up straight every single day. She bothered to nag at me every single time she saw me in school, saying that I should stand straight while my bones are still growing cos when they stop growing, my bone structure would be fixed. Really nice teacher.

Thank you Mrs Tang (Primary 5 and 6 Chinese Teacher), for instilling in me a love for Chinese. She was the only teacher whom I felt could identify with us. She would talk about the tv shows we watched, our teenage concerns...I heard she transferred to Ang Mo Kio Primary or Secondary some 4 years ago (which was the last time I went back to my primary school). One of my ex-classmates wanted to go to that school to visit her, but I said no. I still regret that decision today. Cos I dunno where she is now and I really really want to thank her for being such a wonderful teacher.

Note: I hated going back to my primary school because my pri 6 classmates all went to the "good" schools and I couldn't stand standing there in my neighbourhood-school uniform and answering their questions about which school I ended up in.

Thank you Miss Loo Kit Wan (Secondary 1 English Teacher), for rekindling the love for English in me. Another very nice teacher who led me back to the librarian path (sort of). She had really interesting and fun ways of teaching English, one of which included TGIF, when we got to do something really fun for her Friday lessons.

Thank you Miss Pearly Lim (Secondary 3 & 4 English Teacher), for having so much faith in me where the subject of English was concerned. She had so much confidence that I was going to get an A1 for 'O' levels. I didn't. Perhaps one day I'll have the guts to drag my sorry self back to visit her again.

Thank you Mr. Tan YH (Secondary 3 & 4 Chinese Teacher), for trying hard to make your lessons interesting. You told the driest jokes, but I'll always give you A* for effort. And, of course, your teaching IS unmistakably remarkable. I have you to thank for my A1 in Chinese 'O' Levels. However, what's most important is that you truly care about your students and I'm really glad that we still maintain contact up till today. I always feel touched when you make an effort to find out how all of us are doing right now =). I hope you're reading this.

Thank you Mr. Antony Ramasinghe (Yr 1 Sem 1 Character Development tutor), for saying I am predictable (I will remember that you said that until the day I leave SP! :P) and having a keen sense of humour BUT still managing to impart the all-important SP CORE values to us ;). I'll always remember you as the lecturer who introduced me to Scrumpee.

Thank you Ms Doris Nga (Yr 1 Sem 1 Desktop Publishing tutor), for teaching me much much more than Freehand & Photoshop and not being blinded by my appalling designs =p.

Thank you Miss Hui (Yr 1 Sem 1 Introduction to Communication Principles tutor, Yr 1 Sem 2 News Writing tutor), for the nice chat we had that day about journalism and everything else. And tolerating our class whenever we were making a right din.

Thank you Miss Kwa (Yr 1 Sem 2 Web Publishing tutor, Yr 2 Sem 1 Mass Media Research tutor), for everything.

Thank you Rajan (Yr 2 Sem 1 Feature Writing tutor) for all the little life skills you attempt to impart to us during every lesson. I've learnt a lot from you.

Thank you Miss Peter (Yr 2 Sem 1 Legal System and Contracts tutor) for all the laughs I get from attending your lessons every week. And for teaching us all those Things You Thought You Never Needed to Know. I really admire your strong moral values. And your accent.

Thank you Loh Loh (Yr 1 Sem 2 Digital Video Production and Applications, Yr 2 Sem 1 Digital Media Applications), for being so awfully nice all the time and always giving me B's. Hahaha.

Yep, kudos to all these teachers who have been (and still are, for some of them) wonderful guidance and often went out of their way to show their concern for students and dedication to teaching. It is in all of you that I found the meaning of "a passion for teaching". Please continue to make the world a better place.
