Our Ride

Ben LOVES Subaru, but he doesn't fit in them. After Katelynn was born he really figured out that our car was not made for us. We have dealt with it for the past year and a half. We are not short compact people. Even without the baby coming we knew we needed a bigger car. Traveling sucked in the Subaru. I don't know how many times I have hit Katelynn's head as I was trying to get her in and out of the car. After sitting in a few cars we picked the Yukon/Suburban model. And after test driving it we knew that we needed out of our current car.
For Valentine's Day we spent a romantic evening at the Car dealership buying a 2005 Yukon XL. So far it has been really nice. There doesn't seem to be any problems. We are going on a day trip this weekend and so we shall see how it will do. We have until Saturday night to return it if we think there is any real problems with it. I hope not. It wouldn't be fun switching back to the Subaru.

Now we need to find someone to buy our 2008 Subaru.

The Big Sister

I made this shirt for Katelynn with some sticky letters. I washed it and a few of the letters came off so I pulled the rest off. This was the only day she wore it. This was on Feb 2 after an ultrasound in the MD's office.

Our Little Jumping Bean...

...and I am not talking about Katelynn. After months of heartache and loss we are pleased to announced that we are expecting. Our baby will be here at the very bitter end of August. I will be a swollen sausage. I am 11 plus weeks or 2 and a half months or 199 days to go. Anyway you put it though, we are excited and happy for this new addition to our little family.

Finding out...I had known a couple weeks before I tested but didn't really think it would be true. My abdomen was pulling like never before, so I thought that something was up. Christmas Day I tested and it was positive. I woke up Ben showing him the stick and saying "Merry Christmas, Daddy."

How am I feeling? Not 100%, mostly tired, and a little stuffed up. I have a weird aftertaste with anything I eat, which I am not thrilled about. I can't think of any food aversions or cravings. I threw up only a couple of times with Katelynn so, I was hoping that would be the case this time and so far yes.

My Doctors office has been great about calming my fears and helping me get through this first trimester. I saw the baby again today with a quick ultrasound. At first we could only see the head and then the baby jumped and moved into a better position. This baby was jumping and moving all over the place. It made my heart so happy. It was moving their hands and feet and everything in between. It was wonderful.

I am grateful for this chance to be a mom again and am hoping for a healthy 28 weeks to go.

21 months

Katelynn turned 21 months a few days ago and I keep looking at her wondering why she is almost 2. I thought she just turned 1. She NEVER stops moving. I don't know if she gets it from me or from Ben. I can't sit anywhere and do nothing and Ben was a hyperactive child. He keeps telling me that he was a saint of a child and never pouted or whined like Katelynn. I don't think he is telling the truth. At church today I talked asked the Nursery Leader how things were going and she mentioned how on the move she is and doesn't sit for snack time well. You should see her at dinnertime! She won't sit in her High Chair anymore and we are trying to teach her to sit and eat. That's a work in progress.
She cried for the first time ever in Nursery last week. I had to check in on a key issue and Katelynn didn't like that I left her. She was easily consoled and when back to playing. It has been months since Katelynn has made it through an entire Sacrament meeting without having to be taken out since she is being to loud or rambunctious in the chapel. Last week she went out and Ben was with her. They peeked through the chapel door windows and saw me and Katelynn wanted to come in to me. So, as Ben was bringing her in she was yelling "a mommy" three or four times at me. She doesn't know her inside voice.
Her vocabulary is growing rapidly. Her most frequently used phrase is "sit down" or "I want" (which she pronounces like Hawaii). The Young Men came over Wed night for mutual and when they came in Katelynn introduced us to them turning and pointing to Ben saying "a Daddy" then turning to me and saying "a Mommy."
She knows a few of her body parts like feet, belly button, head, neck, eye, ear, nose, and mouth.
It is sad but pretty hilarious when she cries. In the past couple of weeks she has learned to put her face into her hands whenever she cries and she crouches down a little. It is so cute to see her little hands covering her face. I can't help but crack a smile when she cries cause she is so darn cute. I have no idea where she picked that up from.
Every night we try and red a few verses from the Book of Mormon, in no particular order to her. Last night she wanted to keep the book with her while she went to bed, I was tired and had been at work all day so I didn't want to fight about it, so, I let her have it. You could hear her though her door for at good five minutes flipping pages and "reading." Right before I went to bed I quietly went in to check on her and she was snuggling the Book of Mormon. My little cutie pie.
She is now about 28lbs and 35 inches.
I think that is about all for now. I hope you have a great Valentine's day tomorrow.
