Jared graduated from YC High School in June 2011. He LOVES hunting and fishing. He plans to attend Blue Mountain College in Pendleton this fall. He will be the first of the Myrick boys to move away from home. :) He is Danelle & Brian's middle son. He will be missed and we hope he visits us often. He has a great sense of humor and likes to laugh alot! Love this kid.

Grant's Zoo Day

Gary and I took the day off to ride Max with the YCES 2nd graders to the Oregon Zoo. Grant was thrilled to take us and show us the exhibits. The highlight of the trip was the birds. 2nd graders study birds and LOVE to talk about them. It is great to see their appreciation of knowledge they acquire. If you know me, my least favorite animal is birds. I was frightened by them when I was a kid and they creep me out. I went with the group and didn't panic too much.

My favorite animal is the hippo. It is rare that we have seen them out of the water. :) It was a very fun day with Grant and his classmates.

YC School Carnival 2011

Every year the school has a carnival to raise funds. Each class collects items for a basket and then we buy raffle tickets to put in for the prizes. Grant won the "KID FUN" basket this year. He was so excited when his name was called. The basket was full of fun activities that we are still pulling out.

Cowboy Days at YC Elementary School!!! 2011

YCES had Western Day for the school carnival. Ian was ready the night before and couldn't wait to dress in his cowboy duds. Grant -not so much- remember that awesome 2nd grade teacher I mentioned in an earlier post? She inspired him and the entire class dressed up! Cowboys all over town. Yee Haw!!!!
p.s. NO, Ian did not take his gun to school, but we had the talk about the rules again. He had to explain to me again that it was just a TOY and not real........
:)

Grant's Guitar Hero Partay!!!!

Trey (cracking up) and Grant

Grant had the best 2nd grade teacher. We asked her why he liked her so much and he told us because she is 7 feet tall and the nicest teacher in the school. Whatever she does it works, he did not get in trouble once this year. (K and 1st grade were SO different in this area) He respected her rules and followed them. I want a little of Mrs Fjelland to rub off on me please. Grant earned enought Cougar coupons to have a guitar hero party after school with Mrs Fjelland and 3 guests. They picked out snacks and a beverage and kept it very hush with other kids so feelings were not hurt. Grant picked Katie, LaVon and Trey to come to the party. It was very fun and guitar hero was a fun Wii game to learn for all of them.

What a GREAT memory of 2nd grade!

Easter 2011

I wanted to get a couple of pictures of the boys in their ties all dressed up for Easter. It is harder than you may think! I had to pick the best 2 pictures that were not in a blurrrr. ;) We went to the local Carlton Church for Easter and spent the day with our families. Very fun, but the ties did not last very long.

Gary turns 50!!!!

Five - Zero! Dan getting in the action ;)

Ian helping daddy blow out his candles with his gun!

The love of my life turns 50! Gary Norman Cooper. He is the very best thing that has ever happened to me. He actually wanted a small party so we had a last minute family party with family that lived close. Cake and ice cream and lots of laughs. Turning 50 is bitter sweet...you are sure glad you made it that far, but you know that you may be in the older crowd for others to look up to... which isn't so bad. Ours kids keep us thinking young and very active which we are thankful to God for that blessing. He truly is my best friend and I LOVE this guy!!!

Happy Birthday Snookums!

Grant and his missing teeth

Grant lost alot of teeth this year, but they grow back in so fast that I was happy I have a couple pictures of the jack o lantern look. Also, I threw in a picture of his prized bear, Boo. He is a great kid full of questions and they are getting more difficult. He is very interested in Math and Science. He has lots of questions about animals. He loves to negotiate with people and we think he may have some "lawyer" abilities in his future.

Ian a birthday party CAT!

Ian on the firetruck for Derby Days

Ian is just a fun loving boy that enjoys being silly. He loves to have fun. His firetruck ride was a highlight of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a volunteer someday.
