Konnyaku Jelly

It has been 5 years since I made Konnyaku Jelly. The last time I made them was when I was in SP Year 1, 2002. Of course, I learned all these in my secondary school days, Food & Nutrition. Making them require about 1 hour of effort, of course the time includes preparing, washing and cleaning the equipments. Actually I already thought of making them since Sunday, I went to find back my equipments. Luckily all of them are still intact. On Monday I went down to Phoon Huat AKA Red Man to purchase the ingredients, which cost me about $10. At night time of about 9 45pm, I started my "come back". LOL

At about 10 15, this is the outcome.

This is the first time I'm using Nata De Coco as one of the ingredients for this jelly. In the past I used normal can fruits. There was one day, when I was walking along one of the shopping mall, I saw a store selling this Konnyaku Jelly and put in Nata De Coco. I guess the combination was great and decided to try it. LOL

Poly Outing

Just had a gathering with my poly gang yesterday. The initial meeting place was mistaken due to misunderstanding and miscommunications. LOL. We had lunch at a store in Far East Plaza. The food was quite nice. Most of its food priced at $4 each. On our way to the KTV at outram, I saw "Nathaniel Tan AKA Chen Keng Bai AKA Xiao Lu Dou" The project superstar 2 one of the top 4 contestants. The KTV at outram was price at $10 per head for 3 hours of KTV session. However this time, the drink is not free flow, no shark fins. But the snacks are a nicer, because the jelly fruits. After our KTV sessions ends at 10pm. We went to have our dinner at a "Zi Cha" near the area. The food really sucks, and not worth the money. On top of this, maybe because the place have some smokers, as you look carefully, you can 1 or 2 bit of ash flooding around you.

Food rating at Far East: 8 out of 10
KTV at Outram: 7 out of 10
Food outside the MRT: 3 out of 10

The food at Far East Plaza and the KTV at Outram is worth visiting the 2nd time and more. However the place where we had our dinner? I will never eat there again. LOL

Cooking instant noodle

Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for 3 around minutes and then ready to eat.

This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

So the CORRECT method, which you may or may not know, is to cook the noodles this way -

1. Boil the noodles in a pot with water.

2. Once the noodles are cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.

3. Boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.

4. Only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.

5. However, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles and add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
