Inspiration...

To challenge myself, I have decided to post inspirational thoughts that accompany a photo I have taken during the week. Last Saturday, Jerry and I went on a day-long date. We needed some together time. Even when there is just two of us at home, we get busy, and have to schedule dates, just to spend some time alone, without phones, work, community and other obligations. We drove the Nebo Loop. Although most of the trees had already lost their autumn leaves, there were a few pretty spots. After the drive we took in a movie in Provo and finished up with dinner. A nice day with my best friend. I hope you enjoy the thought and challenge yourselves to spend more time in nature. It is a good way to put things back into perspective.

Almost Famous....

Chase is in a band. The band was created several years ago, before Chase and some of his buds went on their missions. Alas, everyone is home, and the band is back together. "So Resilient" performed a couple of weeks ago at Rachel's Coffee in Washington. So fun to hear and see them. Quite a talented group, and I must say that I am a proud Mommo. So catch them again on Oct. 8th, again at Rachel's. No cover charge, but hey, buy a coffee or hot chocolate and support the host!

And my own "poster" rendition, should my almost famous son need some posters someday!

And a couple more of this up and coming "So Resilient"....
This are of Nate and of course, a Nate poster....

Don't forget to check them out!!

Here we go again ....

The last week has been full of major stress, once again! Jerry has been experiencing shortness of breath, extreme tiredness, and discomfort in his chest. We went through the "stent" thing two years ago, so we assumed that was going to be the routine. Jerry scheduled an appointment with the dr. and then scheduled an appointment at the cath lab at Timpview Hospital in Orem.

We started the day at Harts... for me. As Jerry could not have anything to eat or drink after midnight.

Jerry is annoyed that I am taking his picture....

Road construction on the way to the hospital....

At the hospital, we went to the cath lab. The staff was extremely nice, joking with us before surgery, and making us feel comfortable. Even bringing me a diet coke and a warm blanket after they took Jerry back to do the procedure.

The nurse missed his vein... not a good thing to do on someone who starts IV's everyday and can start an IV on himself.

And now for the ekg before surgery....

Just waiting... (napping)

Good thing you can play poker on your smart phone after surgery:

Chase came over to the hospital to keep me company and visit pops. We left Jerry playing poker, while we went to get some lunch. Jerry had to stay overnight in the hospital. The room was strange, with a cupboard that had a fold down toilet. No privacy for the patient at all.
The nurses were irritated because Jerry took all the leads off and took out his own IV. This is just Jerry being Jerry... he is not going to wait for someone to do something that he could do himself.
As it turned out, the surgery was unsuccessful. They could not clear the artery. For now, Jerry is taking a different new med, and his bp med is now double the dose. Hopefully, this will help with the discomfort he has been having. If it doesn't, he will need a bypass.
I love Jerry and am thankful he is still with me today. He is my best friend and my love! I am not ready to be alone yet. ♥

Great Salt Lake Marina...

A fun afternoon taking some pics at the Great Salt Lake Marina. I hadn't been there is years. It was especially fun to see the sail boats, although most were not out.  It was a beautiful, clear day.

It's Been Almost a Year...

Almost a year ago, I bought my new Nikon, and began a new hobby. I posted about my new hobby and what it meant to me last January. I have learned so much about aperture, shutter-speed, lighting, composition. Mostly, I have learned a lot about myself. I love being outdoors, I love being around my kids and grandkids, I love hanging out with my husband, and while enjoying these other loves of mine, I love preserving a moment or two. I love capturing an image, finding a new way to shoot something I've shot before. I love challenging myself, I love exploring new places and discovering new ways to use my camera. Bottom line, I enjoy taking pictures. Yes, this hobby is just what I needed, and yes, it is still just for me.

In addition to the many photos I have taken of my yummy grandkids, these are of few of my favorite photographs taken over the last year, from June 2010 to June 2011.

MK Challenge ~ Lines

Unlike the sweet ladies hosting this challenge, who posted wonderful photos of lines going somewhere; Melissa's photo showed a beautiful wood fence that she passed taking her son to school, and Kristi's that showed the dividing lines on a road and likening it to going forward in our lives. I chose a different take on the challenge.
To me, these lines show a life-time of devotion. A life-time of loving me and his children. I see struggles, I see joy, I see lines of caring. I see a man enjoying being outdoors with his children, working in the yard, building a fence, planting a garden, hunting a deer, riding a four-wheeler. I see a grandpa, laughing with his grandchildren, rocking them to sleep. I see a husband, sneaking up on me to see me laugh, watching me open a surprise gift, holding me at night.
These lines are a map of a life well spent.
