Discover U.S. Education - KL '07 (www.discoverUSeducation
is an American Universities Education Fair that will be organized in Mid Valley Exhibition Centre on 22nd July 2007. The primary objective of the event is to enable students to better plan and make informed decisions prior to furthering their studies at U.S. universities and colleges.
There will be 2 components of the event:-
a) Educational Exhibition
- Educational Exhibition comprises of booths from participating
universities and colleges. Facilitators of those booths are alumni,
current students or representatives of U.S. universities and colleges.
Facilitators would share with students on various aspects of U.S.
universities' education, as well as answering any questions that the
attendees have.
b) Seminars
- Speaker series and panel discussions will be held to provide further insights on American education for prospective students and their parents. There will be question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions following each session.
Last year's event (it was called Experiences 2006 Kuala Lumpur) attracted a total of 4,000 attendees, as well as more than 200 facilitators from 43 premier U.S. universities and colleges (including 7 Ivy League universities). It was officiated by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat. The event received wide coverage from media, including Bernama, NTV7, The Star, NST, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, Nanyang Siang Pao, Sin Chew Jit Poh and
Oriental Daily.
Among the speakers/panelists for last year include, Mr. Mark Chang (Founder & CEO of Jobstreet, MIT Alumni), Mr. Tony Pua (Founder & ex-CEO of Cyber Village, Blogger of educationmalaysia.blogspot.com), Dr. Ewe Hong Tat (MIT Educational Counselor, Dean of MMU IT Faculty), Mr. Andrew Miller (Chief of Visa Consular, American Embassy - KL), Mr. Ahmad Kamal (VP of Khazanah, Alumni of Columbia University), Mr. Ong Jiin Joo (Alumni of Stanford and Carnegie Mellon University, formerly with Amazon.com, Solution Architect of Singapore Computer System),
Ms.Wan Nadiah (BCG, Harvard University student), Ms. Anushree (MIT student).
