MoC Checks In
It's been a while since I've blogged and a number of people have asked what's going on. I also noticed that I continue to get a substantial number of hits so I will take a few minutes for the MoC quarterly update.
1. My Job. My new job rocks. On the other hand it is very intense and demanding. It has been described as similar to herding cats.
2. Blogging. There is absolutely no chance I will get back to serious blogging for the forseeable future. Way too busy both at work and at home. In fact, my blog reading is down to a very select few. Sorry Dov, I don't even have time for your narishkeit.
3. Riding. My training for the Alyn Ride has been shvach. For various personal reasons I have missed most of this summer's long organized rides. I am making due by riding my spin bike. This coming weekend I am travelling on business and will make a side trip to Israel where I will ride on early Friday morning and on Sunday with friends from the ride. That will be my hill training for the year. Still, I think I'll be fine. I am still in pretty good shape and still very skinny.
If anyone wants to sponsor me click here and follow the prompts.
4. The shul. Aish is wackier than ever. It is impossibly crowded. I am soon going to be double the age of the average member. But it's all good.
5. Fosterboy. Unfortunately, he is not doing well. It is a shlechta maisa. He continues to come to us most weekends but the rest of his situation is a mess. I don't know what to do. On another front, two months ago, in a moment of temporary insanity, MHW agreed to take on another foster child, this one an infant, ten weeks old at the time of her arrival. She is the most delightful baby you can imagine and has added light and joy to our home. We have all flipped out for her. She has become our "hanimtzah kazeh". (And, as an example of how the Aibishter runs the world with a sense of humor, she is 90% height and 75% weight on the growth charts. For the vertically challenged MoChassid family, to be ON the chart is unusual and anything above the 3% mark is amazing.) We don't know how long this will last but we are enjoying her day to day.
6. Jewish Music. I am in avel and have not heard anything new for 10 months. In any event, I am also resigned to the fact that nothing will likely change and that the most we can hope for is that some people get exposed to the music that is real and holy. (On that front check out Eitan Katz's new CD. I haven't heard it but I will guaranty that it is better than virtually anything else out on the market).
7. Family. B'H, all is well. One in college, one in high school, one in eighth grade and one out of the house. (Tuition about $65,000). Our grandson rocks, pooh, pooh, pooh.
That's about it for now. See you in a few months, after the ride.
