The Year in Review: 2014

It is time for my once a year post! Here is the year 2014 in review for our little family.

We came off of an awesome memorable trip to Memphis, NYC, and Connecticut at the beginning of the year. We played it kind of chill through January and February. I also turned 27 (such a terrible age to turn) on February 5th. It has turned out to be a better age than I expected. :)

December 27th, Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

March-May were also pretty low key. I was in major training mode for the Century Bike ride I was planning to do in June. Here is a picture of us from Easter:

June was one of the craziest months of the year!! I finished my 5th year of teaching third grade, we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary, and I completed my first 100 mile Century Bike Ride!

Our visit to the temple on our Anniversary, June 14, 2014.

I never thought I would actually make it! The moment of completing the 100 miles was one of the most memorable things I have ever done in my life! I felt like anything was possible after that day. I was on cloud nine for at least a week! (Even though I was super sore and dead.)

Riding by the Rindlisbacher Farm in Cache Valley during my century ride.

I couldn't have completed the ride without Jayme and Robyn at my side, and Dugan there to support us, as he was at every stop along the way. Love them all!

At the end of June Dugan had to go to Denver for a work conference required at his new job. He has gone through a few different jobs over the last few years, as he is working toward completing his 4,000 hours for his LCSW. Social work is definitely an occupation for those with patience(In more than one way). He should be completing his hours by Fall of 2015.

Denver was so much fun! I got to play while Dugan was sitting in his conference each day, so I got to meet up with friends who live there as well. It was a  fun post-wedding anniversary trip for us.

July: I completed a Sprint Triathlon Relay with Jinger and Andrew. Yes, that means I only did the 10 mile bike ride. It was so much fun though! I definitely loved the taste of the triathlon world.

Summer 2014: The beginning of the beard.

Massive hail storm in West Valley as we prepared for the new school year in August. It was crazy!!

August: We decided it was time to grow up and move out of my parent's house and get our own apartment. Thanks to our wonderful manager Adam, it was a pretty simple and easy process to move and put together our awesome new one bedroom apartment.

The new school year started, and we celebrated Dugan's 29th birthday! He is getting so old...

I also was lucky enough to catch the parainfluenza virus, which put me into lockdown for a week! I still have relapses with my throat being sore. It definitely has thrown things around in my life, and I have learned that I need to rest more in life, and to bring my stress level down, or my throat will hate me. Herbal tea and honey and lemon have become my new best friends.

September: Kayla came home from her mission! It is great to have my little sister back from Chile!

Katy Perry concert. Braden was the best brother and took me with him to see my woman crush. She put on an amazing show. It was even better than her last one in 2011.

Anberlin's farewell show was most memorable! It was amazing. I am going to miss this band and the wonderful music that they have made and helped me get through those wonderful college days.

Our legit Halloween costumes. Boo.

During the Halloween weekend we took a mini trip to Memphis to visit Dugan's sister Megan and the family for Bella's baptism. Memphis is GORGEOUS in the fall! We loved trick-or-treating with the kids, and spending that short time with the entire Mathews' family.

I became very involved with my health and fitness this fall, as I started a squat and plank challenge with Fuze Fitness, where I have my Zumba class as well. This challenge also led to me doing a fitness boot camp in the month of December. I feel healthy and ready to start the new year!

December has been good to us. We made this month a pretty chill one, making very few plans to go out, and to just enjoy our time in our warm home. We spent time with family during the holidays, which was nice after last year's crazy trips around the country.

We are grateful for all that we have and are blessed in our little family. We have had many more memorable times with many friends and family this year that remind us of the love and support that we have all around us. Thanks for all that you do! Happy New Year to everyone, and here is to making 2015 even bigger and better!

Catching Up! Finishing 2013

Wow! Time flies! Here we are already in March, and I am just thinking about blogging the last events of 2013.

November and December were fabulous, full of all sorts of events and memories! Our friends Alison and Kyle were sealed in the temple with their little boy Aiden, Stephanie and Dan's wedding was in November, and Amy and Luke's wedding was in December! Love love love! We love spending time with our friends for these wonderful events.

Dugan and I were AWESOME about getting our Christmas shopping done early. I would have to say that was my proudest moment of the Christmas season. I only had school until the 18th, and then Dugan and I were off on our adventure for the Christmas break. Our trip consisted of: Going to Memphis, then flying into New York, and ending the trip in Connecticut. Yes, that was over a week of nonstop adventures, and 7 flights, meaning 7 stressful take-offs and landings for Dugan. Let's just say that we won't be flying like that anytime soon. I always enjoy flying, but when you are with someone who does not, and gets sick easily, well it ends up making the time in the air go by that much slower. BUT each destination was worth it.

Our first stop was to Memphis to visit Dugan's twin sister Megan and Paul and the kids for Christmas. Memphis is a fun little town, as you make sure you stick to the fun parts of it. They live in Germantown which is GORGEOUS! I was obsessed with the beautiful brick homes, and how quaint everything looked. I wish they made houses like that out here in Utah! We were able to visit Elvis' home at Graceland, and see other great sites, along with great food. We were there with the family until the day after Christmas. I loved being able to spend time with Megan and the kids and to see their house in person. It was my first Christmas away from home, but it was worth it to be with Dugan and the family.

After Memphis, we flew up to New York where we met up with my parents, Braden and Cindy to spend a few days in the city before we went to Connecticut. I love being in New York! This was my second visit there, and the first time was a nice sunny warm summer, versus this cold, windy, winter visit. I was so excited to be there with the Christmas season still in the air. I have always wanted to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Square, and I was so happy to see it, even though it was on it's last breath. We visited so many other places, including my favorite, Serendipity. We also went to the World Trade Center Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and so on. It was great to have dad as the tour guide, since he is the one who lived there in Manhattan on his mission. The two days there were exhausting, but worth the trip!

After the second day, we rented a car to drive up to Connecticut for our cousin Elizabeth Hopkinson's wedding. I wish we could have spent more time in Connecticut, because it was so pretty up there, even in the winter. The wedding could not have been more perfect, and Elizabeth was gorgeous in her dress. Growing up, the Hopkinsons came to visit us a lot in Utah, and I hadn't seen Elizabeth in years. Her mother, Debra was out in Utah for my wedding, so I have seen her recently, but it was so fun to spend all of that time with the other Crump relatives that live on the east coast, that we do not get to see often.

After the long trip, it was time to head home on the grueling flights. ( I sure wish we could afford nonstop flights... one day...)

We were so exhausted by the time we got home, that the next day was New Year's Eve, and we ended up just crashing at home after dinner with the family.

That about sums up 2013! We had a fabulous year. Our highlights include:

1. Both graduating from the U with our Master's Degrees.
2. Trip to Disneyland in the summer.
3. Dugan taking and passing his licensing exam.
4. Dugan hired on as a therapist at Highland Ridge.
5. Our fabulous Christmas Vacation to Memphis, New York, and Connecticut.

2014 will be full of changes and new adventures that we still have no idea what could happen. Let's see how many times I can update my blog with everything that happens!
