AFRICA 2-D!!!

Fourth and Final Africa post.
These are the adventures of Johannesburg, South Africa:

A car about the size of a 4-door Geo Metro, 6 adults, 12 pieces of luggage, and 6 backpacks...

...not so happy people. Driver is on the right, and drive on the left of the road.

Emily and Lukas. We went to the Art Museum on Monday only to learn most things are closed on Mondays :(
This was a something outside the museum.

Casey Davis, Pam, Lukas, Emily, and Daubin at Soccer City. This is the main arena for the World Cup soccer stuff.

South Africa, Johannesburg Temple
Claire, Casey Davis, Daubin, and Emily...self explanatory

No photo shop here. I am sitting in the car seriously this close to the lion.

We watched these lions get in and out of this truck. It was hilarious!!!!

AFRICA 2-C!!!

This is the hostel we stayed at in Zambia during our leisure travel.
Ironic name, eh?

Freembi was our awesome safari guide

Giraffe and Emily

Just plain cute

Daubin, Emily, and Casey Davis at Victoria Falls...

Ryan, Emily, and Lukas also at the Falls...

...one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World!!!
Such a difference in water flow from April to Sept.

Look real close and you can see a little pool...

WOW!!! Now Claire and Emily are lying at the top of the Falls!!!

...then sat on the edge!!!

...then found the pool to swim in.
The water flows out the bottom left of the picture into the huge Falls :)

...then jumped off the rocks into the pool. What an awesome experience!!!

AFRICA 2-B!!!

Africa post #2 is shorter, but I wanted to share a few "signs" we saw.

This is an advertisement for a cell phone company!!

Maybe not the oddest sign until I tell you it is above the door at the Zambian Immigration Office

I am driving from the right side of the car on the left side of the road and see this...

This is the sign in the public pay restroom at the bus station. They give you a few squares of TP when you pay. It was a nasty place. The fines range from about $2-$4. Mind you, there was running water from 1 of 4 sinks with no soap to be found.

An article in a Zambian newspaper. Some questions are asked world-wide!!
This is disturbing. The front page of a Zambian newspaper. GBM are the initials of a government official.

AFRICA 2-A!!!

I have so many pictures from Africa it is difficult to narrow it down, so I am going to do 3 different posts!! This is the first one. These pictures are from the humanitarian portion of the trip.

These are some of the kids and volunteers eating Tootsie-Pops, a very rare treat I took there with me.

I really should be African! We were teaching music class and she fell asleep!

These girls are gathering water from a well, which is their only water source.

We are "washing hands" before lunch. Our interpretation would be pouring dirty water over our hands while rubbing them together.

A cemetary. These mounds go on for miles...

These girls go to school at Mothers Without Borders, where we helped.

I need to get me one of these :)
