Big Island Christmas: Day 3

Christmas morning! This gift was my favorite, a framed
$20 bill.


After that we bowled 3 games.


Then we went hiking through a rainforest, down into the volcano!


Parts of the trail were really dark and creepy.

Mom pointing up to the rim of the crater. Actually it's a caldera, meaning

it's diameter is more than one mile.

It was freaky to see all these big rocks and realizing there could

be an earthquake at any moment and we'd be crushed!

This is a shot of the bottom of the caldera. Cool huh?!

The path from this point on was marked with rock piles.

On the way back up. We did not bring water so we were struggling.

Back at the top. We walked all the way through the trees on

the floor. It was a very long hike but it was so worth it.

Big Island Christmas: Day 2

First major stop today was the Halema'uma'u crater.


Mom, on our way to the Kilauea Volcano. The most active
volcano in the world!



The whole place smelt of sulfer. Stinky!



Next stop, Thurston Lava Tube. This is the entrance.

The area surrounding the tube was like a rainforrest.

The most important part of the day, getting a cute new hat!

Big Island Christmas: Day 1

Our outing today was spooky! Fog everywhere but mainly in the crater.



Mom jumped in...


and I was forced to go in after her!

Hey Party People!

Ok, so since the family website has not been working for a while I thought I would try this thing out. We have a lot of cool things planned and I mainly wanted mom to be able to share with everyone. Tomorrow we are leaving for our Christmas trip to the Big Island and I can't wait. This will be my first trip to an island other than Oahu. Wish us luck and I will post pictures as soon as I can.
