I know it’s been a while – there has been A LOT going on around here! I know I say that every time….let’s just say that A LOT is an understatement!
(I started this post 3 weeks ago, before we found out we were moving)
My last post left off at the end of our beach weekend….
Then it was time to celebrate the 4th of July!
Yes I know that was 6mths ago
We made t-shirts
And got all kinds of patriotic!
We don’t do a whole lot on the 4th….maybe have some friends over and bbq a little. My kids are deathly afraid of fireworks, so I end up consoling them and hiding in the house during the best part of the holiday
Next up for us was celebrating this little stinker’s birthday!
She was deathly afraid of the fire! Just like fireworks!
We love our Ga family <3
Our big 2 year old on her big girl bike!
Kaydin kept us busy with another round of soccer!
Then it was time for our big boy to start Kindergarten! Where does the time go?
The whole family got to walk Kaydin to his first day of school!
The weeks leading up to his first day, he kept telling me he was nervous about starting school. But he went right in and found his seat and got to work like a pro!
Kamryn started school the week after Kaydin. She goes twice a week for 3hrs/day. Here she is on her first day!
We didn’t have much going on the rest of August. The kids starting school was the main event, after that it was getting through each day and trying to establish some sort of routine.
Whatever routine we had established was briefly interrupted in early September with the passing of the queen of the Sremaniak family. Our beloved Granny Lou passed away on September 4, 2014.
Family came from near and far to celebrate her life(or as we collectively decided, her ‘spunk’!)
In all our purple glory – Granny’s favorite color
The family took over Aunt Karen’s house for a couple of days. Here are the kids playing:
Some croquet in the rain
And the grown ups:
They love my random picture taking…well most of them
Oh Jordan…..LOL
After our unexpected weekend trip to FL, we had a few weeks of down time before our epic road trip to NY!
2 days to drive up, there for 3 days, then 2 days to drive home. Sounds like a piece of cake right? Hah….it was a lot of work, A LOT of patience, a lot of driving, and most of all exhausting lots of fun!
Sightseeing in DC wasn’t on our list of things to do, but we had some time so why not??
We stayed the night with the Cochran family – Thanks for letting us crash in your basement!
PA welcomes “Yo” Hahaha
Hershey PA
This was a fun little pit stop! Candy? Hello?
It was amazing to finally see this sign!
This first day we were there we found a park for the kids to run around and play at. It was a beautiful day !
This park was so neat! The kids loved the see-saws the best.
Michael even found a little stream that ran through the back of the park.
That night we went to dinner at Anchor Bar, a place in Buffalo that is famous for their wings. Michael was a little excited
And he indulged just a little =)
The next day we headed to Canada to see Niagara Falls! Pictures really don’t show the true beauty and power of the water. It was amazing!
So much water flowing over the falls.
After checking out the falls and getting some souvenirs, we headed to the nearby indoor water park. The kids were so excited! The adults might have been too
These were the only/best pics I took due to the humidity inside the park. Kept fogging up my lens!
It was so strange seeing people(including ourselves) walking in wearing pants and jackets. It was a rainy 50 degrees outside, but a comfortable temp inside. It was nice to be shielded from the outdoors and be able to enjoy what is normally a summer time activity.
It was a lot of fun! Kamryn stuck to the kiddie area playing is the fountains and went on a couple of the little slides. Kaydin went on every water slide in the place! Some that you sit on a tube and go down, and some that you didn’t. He had a blast!
The next day was our last day in NY, and Erin and I had signed up to run a 5K. It ended up being a cold rainy morning, but we made the best of it and pushed to finish! A warm breakfast including beer(yes beer) at the end of the race was a bit of an incentive….lol.
The next morning we loaded the car back up and hit the road south!
I love our family selfie(with timer) and the only thing in focus is the donut box! LOL
We got to Lexington KY before stopping for the night. Then went the last bit the next day. It felt so good to be home out of the car!
Just before Halloween, we added one more 4 legged friend to our family! Meet Kali
She is a Boxer/Lab mix and was 10weeks old when we adopted her from a local shelter. She is very mellow and so quiet! I keep saying we need to put a bell on her so I know where she is. She hardly ever barks, and is a perfect playmate for big sis Indy! We call Bruiser the Grumpy Old Man(because he is!) he just barks at Indy and Kali as they run around and play together. They are perfect playmates and Bruiser can lay around all day without them bothering him anymore
Last up for this post is Halloween!
Painting their pumpkins – serious business
And the costumes!
I even got in on the fun, just a little bit
I think they were super cute! Glad I took these before the trick-or-treating chaos ensued!
Spider man and Cinderella <3
We trick-or-treated with all of our bestest friends. Unfortunately I didn’t get a group pic of all the kids this year. But they all had a blast and got tons of candy!
After all of this excitement and craziness(this entire post), nothing could prepare us for what was to come on Thursday, November 13th 2014. A day that changed our entire world and that we will never, ever forget!! More info on this plus Kaydin’s 6th bday celebration coming soon!
