Summer Fun: Reno Rodeo and Virginia City

Our family went to the Reno Rodeo this year again and it was as fun as always.  We love the rodeo as well as the shows between events, especially the motorcycle rider.  He puts on a great show.
There is nothing better than a large scoop of ice cream in the hot summer sun.  There is also nothing worse than cleaning up ice cream in the hot summer sun.
The boys are wishing they were on a road trip.  I'm sure they will be driving soon enough, but not for now boys!

Father's Day

Father's Day is special around here.  Kid kids really love their Dad and would do anything for him.  In fact, as you can see below the boys decided to help him put his socks on for church.

Summer Hikes and New Grass Under Swings

Summer hikes are a favorite around here.  The kids love to hike and explore, why don't we turn things off and do this more often?
We FINALLY got grass put in under our swing set.  It was dirt which the kids loved, but the grass is just so much better all around.  Love it!

Kendra Gardner is no longer a Kindergartener :(

For some of you it is no big deal to have a child finish kindergarten.  For us, we can't believe how fast time goes by and from what we hear, it doesn't slow down.  Our little girl has really grown up and we are so proud of her.  We love you Kendra!

Eating our Fishing Derby Fish

The next day we jumped on making our fish.  It is a lot of work to pick through all the bones, but that is part of the fun of the whole experience for the kids.

Fishing Dirby

As a tradition, we take our kids to the anual Fisshing Dirby in Gardnerville.  It is so much fun to watch them enjoy fishing and as equally fun to watch them help cook it and eat it.
This year Kendra wasn't allowed to have mom and dad's help, but luckily Ron Nelson was a volunteer who took great care of her.  She was in and out with her 2 fish limit in no time.

The boys finally have the hang of what they are doing, a little at least.  It took them a little longer than Kendra to catch their fish, but they finally did.

Reno Aces

Each year we try to catch a game or two of the Reno Aces.  The kids love to sit in the outfield in the grass, so we just bring a few chairs and enjoy the game.

Fishing Derby

Each year we take our kids to the fishing derby in Gardnerville.  It is always such a great even for the kids.  he kids usually catch their two limit of fish rather quickly, but for the boys this year that was very different.  If took them right up to the last minute to catch their two fish.  Kendra caught hers in only a couple of minutes that to the help of Ron.
This is one of my favorite pictures that I hope will recreate itself many times in the future.  They really are best friends.
Getting the fish weighed in and cleaned so we can cook them up.  Can't wait.
