PAPER ONE IS FINISHED. not dead finished, but ended finished. quite satisfied with it. english was letter for situational, and i wrote "obsession" for part 2. funny how they had to give us a topic which we've already wrote before last year. mistake? probably. chinese was a breeze too, about singaporeans being ranked the second most unhappy country. lots to write about. and i do hope i do well.
and we broke a new world record yesterday. for human wheelbarrow-ing. the attendance was rather flat. some wanted to study, some wanted to go out, some wanted to not go and just stay at home. helped the organisers do some registration stuff. and met some assholes from the lower sec.
i mean, if you are in the wrong queue, then just get your ass to the correct one. why the need for senseless childish actions at the head of the queue and hogging the line? i guess ball tossing doesn't teach them much except for ball-tossing. they ought to learn something about being considerate and disciplined.
that's why i don't support the segregation in the school. mix the bad and lousy with the bad and lousy and you'll get more bad and lousy. it's true that some of them aren't like that, but hey, look at the rest. the majority. they strut around the school in their knee-long shorts, cut queue etc...
scums. scums ought to be removed.

thus ends the sec4 2006 preliminary examinations for practical. we are this close to completing the prelims. only ALL the papers left.
but what a shitty way to end the practicals. physics prac question one was an okay question. just your basic follow-the-instuctions-and-you-won't-get-screwed kind of question. the only part that needed some careful thinking was the design question.
but, my my, question two. it's the death of me. again, we have a case of highly disputed curve or straight-line graph for the graph-plotting and many didn't manage to complete the paper. like me. OHWELL.
and yesterday was the end of something else too. it's the last proper day of studying that the sec4 batch would be having in AHS. because today's prac, tomorrow's wheelbarrow thingy, thursday's paper one and so on. so it's NO MORE LESSONS!!! after the holidays are prelims, then study break, then o-levels. then sayonara AHS.
whoa. kind of fast if you think of it. we've almost completed secondary schooling. no more assemblies, no more flag-raising, no more recesses, no more sleeping in lessons, no more going to com labs to use the computers to play, no more HOMEWORK! yesyes, homework.
well, a student's life. this is just part and parcel of it. but for now, it's studies.
nothing else.

blessed are those that get FRIENDLY teachers for o-levels oral examinations.
would you still be int he mood for conversation if the teacher in front of you is slouching like some drunkard and looks as if you had her mother for breakfast? of course not. i can't see why those teachers cannot be friendlier. it certainly would not harm them, and a warm gesture would mean a lot to those taking the exams.
sheesh. so much for etiquette. can't expect much though, since they are * . maybe our standards far surpasses that of where they come from until they're overwhelmed.
on a merrier note, chemistry practical was a breeze. no titration, just mere burette-ing solution and measuring temperatures. so now all that is left is PHYSICS practical, followed by prelims.
should i study for tomorrow's test. which might not even be counted in the CA2 (?) overall before prelims.
gaaaah.

biology practical (prelim) has finally concluded. with the widely debated curved-line or straight-line graph for the purity of the cell sap and the number of seed which i SCREWED up. quarters = 1/4. whole = 4(1/4). got to keep that in mind. LOL, carelessness, tsktsktsk. it's the death of me.
ohwell, what's done is done. just have to work extra hard for the written. and the quarantine is freaking boring. 4 hours+ in the aircon hall, no handphones, lots of noise. no food too unless you order and wait for it to arrive, or you bring your own food. extreme boredom.
studying for an emaths test that might not come out tomorrow. for the basic fact that there is no maths period tomorrow. mr choo, you should've seen this coming.
sec4s, obviously, did not get to see much of the other levels today. so this is how the sec4s last year felt. it's almost like having the whole school to yourself just because of the sheer ignorance to the other students still present, but not seen. makes you feel free.
talking about ignorance, "Landscape With The Fall of Icarus" is a perfect painting depicting ignorance. or rather apathy.
ciao. off to live another day.

this week ended in a jiffy. time really flies when you're just working working working your butt off.
had some photo taking today after flag-raising. i thought we did that already? but anyway, wasted away a period that would be wasted anyway. so what's the harm aye?
well, the coming week is loaded. full 5-days of tests, exams, and what-nots. with two days being prelim practicals, and one being o-levels oral, on the SAME day as chemistry practical. hmmm. oh, and the common tests. DURING THIS CRUCIAL PERIOD. -.-
gaaaah, what choice? just have to continue working our butts off. and the school "kindly" reminds us that there's 23 more days to prelim exams. in the canteen. how can one eat in peace when LED proclaims our second-most dreaded event above our heads.
LET'S STUDY!!! that's what students do.

the world is coming to an end. here are three evidences to prove my point.
1) PCD have to wear long sleeve sweaters and jeans to perform or their managers will be FINED. well, only in SOME countries.
2) some pornstar is running for governor and she wants the FBI to "leave pornstars alone", and she's "just what the people wanted. a governor you can screw."
3) there are only 9 more teaching days left to Preliminary Examinations 2006.
evidence 3 is from a highly reliable source. which is samuel yap's msn nick.
i've just had enough of studying. so i figured i'ld go play some pinball. only to get the first ball through those two freaking flippers when my score is only a 5-digit number. FOR ALL FIVE MATCHES I PLAYED. that's a real bad omen. it means that the pinball gods hate you and they'll smite you when you're not looking.
watching click and kate beckinsale later on. a well-deserved break after a week of studying, celebrating national day, getting pissed and sad and happy, and pinball.
let's put an end to this crap post. good luck folks in your mugging.
p.s there is NO SUCH WORD as mugging. i wonder who's the bugger that came up with such a word. muggle, yes. mug, yes. mugging, NO.

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY, SINGAPORE!!!!!!i love my country. although 41 years in terms of nations' age is rather young, but for a nation that built itself from a scratch, 41 years is a long way.
i think what's important for us singaporeans to do now is to really feel proud of our country, and not only just on national day. with recent surveys of singaporean youth wanting to migrate, it's rather disappointing.
second is racial harmony. LOL. as much as my usual rantings about some irritating things other people *ahem* do, i must admit that they are rather cool people. albeit their tendency to piss people off at times, but once you get to know them, hey, they're nice people.
the gahmen has graciously granted us students tomorrow a school holiday. so it's revision revision revision. that's all that has to occupy our minds. although there was this *feeling* in my stomach when i watched the parade segment of the NDP'06 telecast just now. the marching and stuff. yeah.
ohwell. back to the books.

an excerpt from "Eloisa to Abelard", by Alexander Pope:
"How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot;
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd."

post before hours of bio and chem.
if you are able to, i recommend the comic "death note" to you people. no, it's not as gothic as you think it is, and there's not really guys and swords clashing. rather, it explores our morals. more specifically, our definition of what's right and correct.
i think that for something to be correct, there must be something that is wrong to contrast with it. take for example, stealing and borrowing. compared to borrowing, stealing is obviously wrong. but what if now, there's this situation whereby you steal some bread for your poor family that's very hungry, compared to stealing because you don't want to pay for something. now, would the former be a correct/right thing to do? although it's still stealing. perhaps it's doing something wrong, but for a good reason. or just plain "you should NEVER steal", or "nah, it's alright to do so, although it's stealing we're talking about here". so it all boils down to what one defines as righteous.
but i agree with this. "the only necessary thing for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing."
prelims are fast approaching, and the tests are coming down fast and furiously. but this hectic schedule is, ohwell, inevitable. gotten used to it already. now it's just waiting for the real thing to come and get it all over and done with so i can remeber what it's like to really relax.
but that's wishful thinking at this stage.
chem mcq test tomorrow, and bio after school. plants and genetics. and plants are as in EVRYTHING about plants. in one day? should be can.
ciao, lots to cover.

i was just reading ganda's blog just now. and how he was ranting about guys being dumped and girls going around doing their stuff. so this is a response to his post, in agreement to most of what he said.
let's be honest for once. ask yourself if do you really go for inner beauty when you see a guy/girl for the FIRST time? i mean, with all the "oh, inner beauty is more important than outer beauty" crap hanging on people's mouths, take a second to think this over. you're seeing this guy/girl, and you've not really paid attention to him/her. ever. so what's attractive about him/her to you, would not be his character or whatsoever, but rather, looks. isn't it?
we're human beings after all. but it's still "basic instinct" for us to pick somebody who is attractive on the outside, because it means healthiness, and things that aren't so applicable to humans. but the fact is that we still make our choice, at the first stage, based on the other parties' look. don't deny it. because if wives/husbands, girl/boyfriends were picked based on "inner beauty" first, then many people in this world would be single.
so cut the bullshit and hypocrisy about picking somebody and trying to court him/her because he/she has a "good character, is a nice person" etcetc. you don't even know him or her, right?
and of course it all depends on the other parties' willingness to open up to you too. although it might be her/his own choice, it's hard to get to know a person who doesn't let you know more about him/her. but, nonetheless, maybe somethings weren't meant to be.
so now down to a reality we are more aware of. it's true that maybe 16 is a tad too young for a person to take on a serious relationship, but i have to object because not everyone thinks like a 16-year old. whether for the good, or bad. and it's real hard to find somebody that thinks like you do and is able to connect with you. probably that's a reason why most people are marrying late. but it's not true that two different people cannot overcome their differences and be together as well. cases like these are just too many to be counted.
but come to think of it, what do some people really want? it's rather disappointing to see and hear that people (no offence, but mostly women) are going after money. so whatever happened to "good characters"? hey i might look like some freak show, but if i have lots of ka-ching, girls would flock to me like ants to honey. don't deny this fact.
it's really saddening, to think that these are the "modern people" we are looking at, and aspiring to be.
so if you have a few minutes to spare, just ask yourself what do you really want from this life?
