‘Twas the night

On Christmas Eve day, we tried to keep ourselves occupied so the day would go by faster.  We went to Hodge & Alana’s in the early afternoon and much to the kids’ delight, he had a full drum kit set up right there in his living room.  Hours of fun!  Thanks Hodge & Alana for letting us hang out and cause a ruckus!

Burgundy enjoyed watching the goats outside and really wanted them to come to the window to give her kisses.IMG_7700We also went to Aunt Shirley’s for chimichangas for dinner and Finn and Burgundy had a blast playing with their cousins!  Finn asked if we could go there everyday.

The kids got to open one present before bed and this was it, plush bathrobes.  I think this will be my favorite present this year.  It means no more towels after bath time!  Which hopefully means no more towels on the floor, draped over the railing, on the bed, on the dog, in a wad, towels towels towels…  They are a bane, so I am personally very excited about the robes.  Finn was non-plussed when he opened it, but when they put them on after their bath, Finn said “Wow, I am really warm, I really like this surprise!”  Chalk one up for mommy!

Merry Christmas to all!IMG_7703

'Tis the Season

Well, Christmas day is nearly upon us! We have just been enjoying our time with Cody home and all trying to enjoy each other and the beautiful season of winter. We have been mostly home-bodies, not really trying to venture out and pick up unnecessary germs, it has sort of worked... We've been healthy for the most part, (which is a positive change from last year - it seemed when Finn started school we were sick more than we were well) other than Cody has a cold at the moment, which felt more like the flu 2 days ago, but he seems to be getting over it rapidly which is a good thing.

In other news, we went up to Jim & Paula this afternoon to celebrate an early Christmas since they will be out of town until the 26th. We even brought Rigby along who wrestled with Riley the whole time.
Finn opened his Morphibian remote control car and said "I've wanted one of these my whole life!" ha ha ha. He was obviously very excited! He also got a new Dr. Seuss book, which he nearly cried over, and threw on the couch, like oh great, a book. D'oh! We had a little conversation about being gracious when receiving presents this evening! We read it at bedtime and he did rather like it.
Burgundy got some great dress-up stuff which she is very excited about. Cody & I got a GPS which we are certainly thrilled about! (We can even use it as a hands-free phone device via bluetooth. Which is great since the speaker on my phone is pretty weak :)

Also this month, Burgundy is potty-trained! Hooray! No more buying diapers!! She completed the process exactly 1 year before Finn. He was 3 years 1 month, and she is 2 years 1 month. She no longer even wishes to go on her little potty - she simply wants to "sit onna big potty". Here she is, very proud after pooping on the potty. (sorry, had to post it, at least you can't actually see it in this picture)

Abbi & Lily were in town for a few days and we were able to spend an evening with them. Burgundy, Finn & Lily all seemed to enjoy spending time together. Here are Indi & Lily looking at the Christmas train. After Christmas, everyone will be in town which should be great fun. Erin & Jesse & family will be up, Abbi, Brett & Lily, and Laci & Ryan will all be in town. Toni and her family are moving to Missouri in January, and so it will be lovely to have everyone together for a while. No one knows quite when that will happen again, so I hope that everyone can have a wonderful time together.

We wish you and your families the happiest of Christmases and a wonderful New Year!
