Cornwall Highlights

As a bit of traveller I have seen a lot of sights and been to some great places but Cornwall surprised with a couple of delights. Polperro which is just the quaintest sleepy Cornwall fishing village (well probably not so sleepy in July and August). http://www.polperro.org My photo above to give you an idea of what you might expect. Also a visit to Bedruthan Steps (its a spectacular beach) is a must. You take a 100 or so steps down a cliff to a secluded beach that completely disappears at high tide (beware people do get stuck !!) see my photo below that again I hope gives you a bit of an idea. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-carnewasandbedruthansteps/

Never forget how to ride a bike ....

It's been 24 years since John or I have been on a bike. So during our holiday in Cornwall, we thought we should see if we still knew how. We biked down the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow (10 mile round trip), with the promise of a Rick Stein pasty in Padstow to keep us going. Once I'd got my head around the number of gears there are on a bike now - 3 was quite enough when I was a lass - we were off. John soon got his cycling legs back whilst I looked like a character straight out of one of Enid Blyton's Famous Five stories. All that was missing was lashings of ginger beer.

What I really do at work !!!

I am meant to be a Chilli , I was participating in the work fancy dress Christmas Quiz , the theme was celebrity. Guess what we were ??

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers !! ( For you oldies - they are a pop group)

I thought there was only one Santa Claus

Looks like Santa needed some liquid refreshment before the Christmas rush!

A strange sighting in London

On our pre Christmas trip to London we were checking out Fortnum and Masons for the Mill Cottage fayre. Then we remembered we were North of the border for Christmas so could save our pennies. Feeling disappointed at not spotting the Queen doing her Christmas shop, our spirits were lifted by the sight of a strange creature across the road. On further investigation we found not a creature but a rather peculiar 3 legged Buddha sitting in the courtyard of the Royal Academy of Arts.

They're back!!

I was very happy this morning when I looked out of the window to see the sheep were back. It was a lovely surprise, as when we moved in this time last year the sheep had gone not to return until the Spring. What a relief that Alex's suggestion that the sheep had fallen prey to the deer was not proven to be true. I'm pleased to report that they seem to be in fine form if looking a little chilly!

40th in Bath

We visited beautiful Bath for my 40th (see to left picture of river and Pulteney Bridge in all its autumn glory and below me on my 40th at the Royal Crescent). Global warming was in full swing and it was a balmy Autumn weekend. Is it just me or was it very very cold in the 70's and 80's in November or am I just losing my memory, now that I have joined Tracey in the 40's!! Well Tuesday came and back to work after 7 months, reality really hit with a thud !! Well I'm now able to enjoy that Friday evening feeling again (you workers know what I mean!)
