7 3/4 or 31

We celebrated Michael's 31st birthday today. His actual birthday is Leap Day so he is 7 3/4 and will be 8 next year! The birthday celebration was low key, we are going to San Antonio this weekend to celebrate. Even though Michael is not a sweets eater we decided he needed at least a cupcake. Here he is making his birthday wish.Happy Birthday Michael!

Makai's Showcase

Today I hosted a Sip & See shower for my friend Jen and her precious new son, Makai. Since their last name is Rock, I decided the shower needed to have a Rock Star Theme. We called the shower a one day only showcase. The shower was at Jen's home; we had a wonderful time celebrating and loving on Makai.

Here are a few pictures from the shower.
Isn't she a glowing mom!

And me and Makai; Allie gave Makai a few kicks when I was holding him. He had great rest spot on my belly.

Sesame Street Live & Chuck E. Cheese

We got to enjoy Connor's birthday present from the Nuse family yesterday; a date with Lucy and Lola to see Sesame Street Live followed by dinner at Chuck E. Cheese! We went with the Nuse's last year to Sesame Street Live so this has become an annual tradition for our families. Last year we had two kids with us (Lola stayed home since she was only a month old), this year we had three kids and two pregnant moms and next year we will have five kids!

Connor of course enjoyed the show. He wasn't quite as into it as he was last year, he was focused the entire time just soaking everything in. Last year I don't think he even blinked during the show. Lola however was completely into the show, she danced and clapped the entire time - she had an absolute blast.

Connor taking in everything Elmo had to say.
My favorite from the show, the dancing Lambs.
How cute are these two love birds. Walking hand in hand after the show.
At Chuck E. Cheese, he was into all the rides.
Race car driver.
We were also lucky enough to have the Diaz family meet up with us at Chuck E. Cheese, they were at the same Sesame Street Show as us. Johanna, Lucy, Lola and Connor had a blast dancing to the music at Chuck E. Cheese and watching him sing.

Thanks for the birthday present Lucy and Lola we had a blast!

Playground Play

It's been a while since I posted pictures of the cutest little boy in the world. So today after school I took him to the playground down the street and snapped a few pictures of him. Here is the precious boy in action.

Tippi Toes on Shark Tank

I am so excited to tell the "world" that one of my very best friends in the whole entire world is going to be on ABC's Shark Tank! Sarah Nuse, who lives in Corpus Christi (sounds familiar because we do everything with the Nuse's and their girls Lucy & Lola) is the owner of Tippi Toes a dance company that goes into schools and other programs and teaches dance to young children. She also has Tippi Toes CD's, books, princess camps and many more wonderful things to come. She has Tippi Toes in several states as well as several franchises which she has recently sold. Tippi Toes is an amazing company and it's been fun watching the company grow and seeing Sarah's dreams come true in the almost seven years that I have known her.

I knew Sarah had gone out to California last fall to tape for Shark Tank and it's been a bit of a waiting game ever since then, with them editing and choosing which episodes to air, scheduling, etc. So the big date is Friday, April 15th on ABC! I am so proud of Sarah, I can't wait to see how she and her business partner (her sister Megan) do on the show - although I have no doubt they do AMAZING! And here is a fun fact to show you how amazing Tippi Toes and Sarah are; there were 55,000 applicants for this season.

I am literally counting down the days for her episode to air, I can't wait to celebrate her accomplishments with her (Allie, please do not decide to be born the evening of April 15th). And speaking of Allie and Tippi Toes I've already bought Allie her first tutu and dance outfit specifically for Tippi Toes Daddy & Me class, I think she's going to be a star student!

Check out Tippi Toes website for more information about them.

Monsters Addiction

I've mentioned this a few times recently that Connor is now obsessed with Monsters Inc. or Mon Mots as he prefers to call them. We have not seen an obsession like this since he became a Yo Gabba Gabba addict about a year ago.

About a month ago we were in Best Buy and let Connor pick out a DVD on his own, he went straight for Monsters Inc. and never second guessed his choice. The obsession has intensified over the last two weeks. Monsters is the first thing he asks for every morning and the first thing he wants when he returns home from school. We've had to now hide all of his DVD cases so that he can't look for it.

His addiction has gotten so bad that he has a Disney story book with about 20 short stories in it. It just so happens to be that Monsters Inc. is the very first story in the book. We have read that book every night for the last three weeks since he received the book for his birthday. He will not let us read him any other books. In fact I was so tired of the book that I bought him the same type of book with just Toy Story short stories in it thinking he would like that - oh no, he won't have anything to do with that book.

As much as I don't want to feed an addiction I would like to get him a toy or book for Monsters Inc. I can't find anything anywhere, I guess that's what happens when a movie comes out several years ago. Too bad he wasn't into Monsters when we were at Disney World in December, we could have loaded him up with Monsters gear.

My Sweet Valentine

I tell you I am one lucky girl. I've got the two greatest guys in the world walking through life with me making every day better than the last.

I've always known that Michael is the most amazing husband, sometimes I don't know how I was so lucky to end up with him as my husband. He treats me like a princess and takes such good care of Connor and I, and he's seeing that his little girl will be just as loved.

Michael surprised me with a weekend trip to San Antonio to stay at The Westin La Cantera for Valentine's Day. I woke up Saturday morning with a memo in a file folder that said we were heading to San Antonio (kid free), I had spa treatments lined up, shopping, dinner, breakfast in bed and just a wonderful relaxing time with my guy. Michael even arranged for me to be off work on Monday and told his workers that he wouldn't be taking phone calls on Monday.

We actually were supposed to head up Saturday morning and stay until Monday but we had a MLS soccer game at the stadium on Saturday that I had to work so we headed up Sunday morning. We stopped in Floresville to drop Connor off at the ranch with Mamaw and Papaw, he apparently had a great day visiting cows, playing in his new playhouse and riding and driving the tractor.

Sunday once we arrived in San Antonio we had a great lunch, did some shopping and headed to The Westin. I enjoyed an afternoon in heaven at the spa, I can't believe Michael set this up for me; I'll say it over and over "he's amazing". Once I returned from the Spa we headed downstairs to sit by the fire, I drank ginger ale while Michael enjoyed an adult beverage. Then we headed to an amazing dinner at Francesca's. We each enjoyed a lobster dinner one of my absolute favorites!

Monday we slept in until 8:00! We enjoyed breakfast in bed then headed to the shops at La Cantera. Let's see, Allie and Connor ended up with more loot than anyone - surprise again! Then we watched a movie, Michael even let me go to my favorite store HomeGoods! I had to of course do some shopping for Allie's room and I found her knobs for her dresser at a steal! We then grabbed a great 3:00 lunch and headed home - it was the perfect weekend!

Well I also have to share Connor's Valentine's for his classmates. He is into monsters, dinosaurs and robots (thanks to Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba). I found really cute Valentine cards with a robot on them and knew they would be perfect for Connor. Then I found robot fondant cupcake toppers that were a perfect fit. Saturday night before we headed to San Antonio I made Connor's cupcakes and assembled them for his class so they would be ready for Mamaw and Papaw to deliver at school.

Robot Valentine's that read "I'm programed to like you".
The robot cupcakes.
And the final package.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day full of sweets and love!

Digging for Gold

Warning - this post is a little gross, especially if you don't have young kids.

Connor hates having his ears cleaned and the older he has gotten the more of a struggle it has become to clean them after his bath. So last night after his bath I had him wrapped in his robe sitting on the counter. When I went to clean his ears, as soon as the Q-tip was in his ear he slapped it away. Of course the Q-tip came back with oh so lovely ear wax on it in a yellow-orange color. I decided to show what we could "find" in his ear and that we were looking for the color yellow. Boy did that excite him, after that he was all about cleaning his ears and seeing what came out. He let me clean them and of course he cleaned them himself a few times. I am anxious to see if this works on our next ear cleaning attempt. I keep telling myself why didn't I think of this before.

M.I.A.

I know it's been a while since I blogged. Nothing too exciting is going on in our lives right now. I guess we've been recovering from parties. We held a Super Bowl party at our house, we had a blast with our friends and kids running around. We had way too much food and I have thoroughly been enjoying all the leftovers!

Let's see what else - I've been completely consumed with Allie's nursery. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do and now that I've ordered furniture I am second guessing myself. It took me forever to commit to ordering her crib and glider, I think I have a dresser picked out I just need to again, commit. I've also found fabric for her curtains but it's a special order and I just can't seem to bring myself to order the material even though I love it. And I can't seem to find the right shade of paint, her room is going to be grey, black and pink. I've put three paint samples on the wall, had friends look at them and none seem to be right (by the way the paint is a light grey). So I just ordered a small can of paint from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child - they only have one shade of grey and in the rooms in their catalog it looks perfect so I am crossing my fingers! And yes, I realize that it's ridiculous to order a paint sample but I am completely OCD. There are at least five other things I can't commit to but I'll spare everyone with the details. I know her room will turn out great, I just want it to be a special and beautiful place for her.

So what else has been going on...Connor is completely obsessed with movies. He has picked out his last three or four at the store and he definitely has a genre he likes; monsters and dinosaurs. He LOVES Monsters Inc, Monsters and Aliens, Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs as well as Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Cars.

We've kept Michael busy with organizing the garage and trying to make room for Allie - hopefully the project will be over soon.

I promise to do better with blogging, I print my blog entries every year for our memories so if nothing else I need to do a better job for us.
