What A Week

Well we had a wonderful Christmas, it was a busy week but a fun week. We headed to Huntsville Tuesday afternoon and spent a few days with my family. I think the highlight of Huntsville for Michael was getting to go eat at McKenzies BBQ (it was his favorite place in college). We attended church Christmas Eve with my family, including my Papaw, then we headed back to the house for a Sims family tradition - a viewing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Christmas morning we spent the day opening presents and overeating.

The afternoon of Christmas day we headed to Liberty Hill to spend a few days with Michael's mom and her husband Gary as well as his brother Tyson, sister-in-law Kyli, and niece Kennedy. It was so much fun to watch Kennedy open presents she is 4 1/2 and really into Santa. I got the opportunity to play a game of Memory with Kennedy and Michael got a few games of Old Maid in with her as well - we weren't keeping score but I'm pretty sure Kennedy came away undefeated!

We made the mistake of going to the mall the day after Christmas, what were we thinking? I'm 34 weeks pregnant and have despised malls for about the last month or so and needless to say Michael has never been much of a fan. We didn't last long at the mall, although it seems like we were there forever. We did manage to get a Christmas tree at Target 50% off so I suppose that made the shopping trip worth our time. Luckily we made it back to Michael's mom's where we enjoyed a great steak dinner, everyone else enjoyed several of bottles of wine as well while I enjoyed a nap on the couch.

Welcome To The Family

I would like to introduce everyone to the newest member of the family.  No it's not Connor (though we are down the the last 5 weeks)!  My parents have a new bulldog named Rocco.  He was a "surprise" Christmas present from my brother. He is a two year old solid white English Bulldog who needed a new home after his original owner was deployed to Iraq.  He is one of the sweetest, most mild mannered dogs I have ever met and I am so glad he has a good home with my parents.  He and Spencer are still adjusting to one another, I guess I should really say that Spencer is adjusting to Rocco (he had some jealousy issues over Christmas).  I just had to post a few pictures of him - how could anyone resist?

Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to put a quick post up before we head out for the holidays to wish everyone a very wonderful Christmas.  We are headed to Huntsville this afternoon to spend time with my family then on Christmas day we are off to Liberty Hill to spend a few days at Michael's mom's.  We celebrated Christmas last night with Michael's dad, step-mom Chris and sister Hillary.  We had a great dinner, then spent the rest of the night opening presents.  My favorite gift was a Shark Steam Mop Deluxe.  I am so weird because I actually really wanted this for Christmas.  I was so excited that when we got home last night I decided to try it out at 11:00 (that's very late when you are 8 1/2 months pregnant) and I am happy to report that it lived up to all my expectations!

Congratulations Wade!

I apologize for taking so long to create a post, but the last two weeks have been extremely busy.  I was in Las Vegas for 5 days two weeks ago with work at the Baseball Winter Meetings.  I learned that Vegas isn't too much fun when you can't drink or stay up past 10:30.  Despite not being able to drink and going to bed every night before anyone else in the entire city I did manage to loose several hundred dollars on the slots!  I guess it's a good thing I wasn't drinking because I suppose then it would have been much more.

As soon as I returned from Vegas, Michael and I headed to College Station the very next day for my younger brother Wade's graduation from Texas A&M - CONGRATULATIONS WADE!  It was a fun weekend and it was great to celebrate Wade with my family.

(I'm still trying to figure out my new computer and the blog world.  I don't know how to move the pictures I posted or how to add captions.  The 1st picture is of Wade and his girlfriend Maggie after graduation.  The 2nd is at The Tap where Wade had his graduation party.  The 3rd is of my family and I at The Tap celebrating.)

The past week I've been busy working, trying to get everything wrapped up before the end of the year.  I have the rest of the year off but am still planning on going into work for a day or two next week as well as work from home over the holidays.  I've got a lot of orders to place and odds and ends to get in order before Connor arrives.

Suprise Shower & Madonna

This post is long over due, a few weeks ago I was in Houston for what I thought was a little shopping at the Galleria with my mom and the Madonna concert with my best friend Misty. Misty instead thru me a suprise shower, it was a great brunch at Canyon Cafe and the best part was I saw so many old college friends that I haven't seen in years. She even managed to get my other best friend there who has been in Boston for the last 4 years! I can't thank you enough Misty for the shower, you will never know how much it meant to me.

So after the shower, and of course a little shopping (Canyon Cafe is across the street from the Galleria) we had a fun diner with Michael and his friend James. Then we were off to see Madonna, the show was amazing and we had great seats!

I don't think Connor is a huge Madonna fan, I thought he would be moving all over the place but he was pretty still. He did move the entire time we were at the Ryan Adams concert a few weeks before Madonna so I guess he prefers Indie Alt. Rock to the queen of pop.

Thanksgiving & Nursery Prep

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Michael's family.  We headed up to Liberty Hill Wednesday, with a stop along the way in Canyon Lake to visit Michael's grandmother, aunt, uncle and two nieces.  It was a quick visit but it was great to see everyone.  We woke up bright and early Thanksgiving morning and headed from Liberty Hill with Michael's mom and step dad to Groesbeck to have Thanksgiving lunch with his Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.  It was a wonderful day and of course the food was amazing, all the women in his family are great cooks!

We headed back to Corpus Friday morning and picked up Connor's furniture in Austin with the help of Nana and G.G. aka Michael's mom Jan and step dad Gary.  The furniture and bedding are all set up.  We are just waiting on the glider and ottoman which should be in any day now. We are also waiting on the curtains and artwork, I have my fingers crossed that everything in the nursery will be done by the end of the year.

Saturday was spent doing some shopping for Connor; we picked up his car seat, mattress and some other "essentials".  I've also started washing his tiny clothes which really reminds me that we are in the home stretch of this pregnancy!

Halloween & Practice

Okay, I'm a little nervous. This is my first blog posting so I am considering this a test run. This is a picture of Spencer on Halloween. He was a Scottish golfer which is very appropriate considering he is a Scottish dog. Believe it or not Spencer actually doesn't hate "playing" dress up, he stayed in his costume all night and had a blast helping me pass out candy.

If you're not familiar with our beloved Spencer he is our "first born" child. He is a 5 year old Cairn Terrier, aka a Toto dog and he is absolutely the best dog in the world!
