Spiritual Giant

Tonight Whitney and I were sitting on the couch and all of a sudden she looked up at our picture of Christ (it has always hung in the same location though she's never paid attention to it). In her own little "words" she started asking me about the picture. I told her that it was Jesus and she immediately said, "Jesu." I then got out some small pictures of Christ that I bought a while back to make a little book for her and she was enthralled with them. She said Jesu a few more times. When Mike came in I told him about it and she said it again.

Then a little later she decided it was time to pray. So we went along with her and she started her little prayers (which we can't understand yet). Just into it, she stopped and we kept prompting her to keep going. Then she walked over to Mike and pointed to his hat. We thought she had just moved on to another thought and wanted to wear his hat. So Mike put it on her head. We had no idea what was coming next. She took the hat and set it down on the floor then folded her arms and continued her prayer. She was definitely keeping her daddy in line.

We truly understood the quote that says, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Mike's birthday so I let Whitney "help" me frost the cupcakes. She was so happy to be up on the chair. She started out trying to put the frosting on the cupcake I gave her to work on, but ended up eating both the frosting and the cupcake!

Beach Baby

We had so much fun playing at the beach. We even went two days in a row! Whitney loved being in the water the first day and it was killing our backs to bend down to hold her. She got a little scared the second day and really enjoyed playing in the wet sand with Grandma. Whitney also has a great suntan!

Zoo

Whitney and I went to San Diego with my mom this last week to babysit Jaylynn, my cousin's daughter who was born just a few hours after Whitney. We had a lot of fun! Here are some highlights from our trip to the San Diego Zoo.

This orangutan was so funny. When the zookeeper came with their food she rolled all the way over to him. Then she rolled all the way back with her orange. Unfortunately the big "grandfather one" as one of the little kids watching kept saying took the orange when she made it back. These are my favorite to see at the zoo!

Looking at the elephants with Grandma K.

They have a few of these gorilla statues at the gorilla exhibit, this one is definitely the scariest, but Whitney refused to go near any of them. She was pretty much clawing my neck trying to keep away from them. She wouldn't even touch it after I did.

Whitney and Jaylynn turning into bugs.

Attempting to pet a goat in the Children's zoo. She wasn't too crazy about them.
