Wow! What a summer our family has had. I'm so proud of us for making some many fun things happen. Our fun continued in August with more great times. August was a busy month while we tried to get the house ready to sell, but still managed to have lots of fun.
The kids earned tickets to Lakeside (a rundown old amusement park) in the summer reading program. It was pretty fun the see Sam and Dennison "graduate" to the bigger kid rides. We had tons of fun, even it every thing was a little dingy and run down.
Our friends the Hebbs happened to be there the same time, and it was fun watching the kids race around from ride to ride.
We had a couple of birthdays, Ada turned 3 and Simon had his first birthday celebration.
The favorite Aunt DeNae and Uncle Brendon came down for the festivities.
We went on a family bike ride up Waterton Canyon, it was perfect weather, and a fun ride.
These two melt my heart, they will have a connect that will last a lifetime.
Dennison spotted and caught a gardener snake on the trail. All the kids loved it.
After the bike ride we headed back home for dinner and birthday cupcakes.
Simon knew just what to do to devour his mini-cake.
Of course there was lots of goofing around to follow.
Here'e the traditional birthday sign pic.
After church on her actual birthday poor little thing was all tuckered out and crashed on the couch. Happy Birthday you two!
Dennison participated in his first rain gutter regatta with his cub scout troop.
I had not been able to hike a 14er since moving back to Colorado, so i went with the youth in the ward to hike Grey's Peak. The view from the top was gorgeous as expected, but it was a hard hike, I haven't done as much rigorous hiking in a while since we usual take the kids. I love the Colorado Mountains. Being on top of the world really is a special feeling.
Simon was starting to look like a scraggly beast, so we restrained him and gave him his first hair cut, he was not happy when we tried to take a picture of the end product.
Drinking from the pray bottle was the only thing that really kept him occupied.
The older boys started school when mid-August rolled around. Samuel started kindergarden this year, what a handsome little guy. He's been ready to start school for a while, so we were both happy when he finally got to go.
Dennison started third grade.
I really loved having the school so close, we could just pop out the back gate. You can see part of our garden in this picture as well.
Sam lost his first tooth.
These two little stinkers taking advantage of a mess when i was trying to sort and pack toys.
We decided to clear out of the house the weekend we listed it, and decided to go on a camp out with the trailer. Below are a couple of shots of the trip.
DeNae and Brendon came two and we were happy to have them.
Ada was being especially chatty and told me that DeNae was her "other mom".
This little guy, not yet walking, made sure to get extra dirty. But hey, that's what camping is all about.
And finally some target practice with Dad and uncle Brendon.
