Yummy veggy salad
There was a 'tung hoon' salad food demonstration held at work today. Like some exciting middle-aged aunties, my colleague and I decided to go and see if there were any tips to learn. Turns out the whole place was filled with REAL aunties. Anyway, we paid $1 for it so we'd better make our money's worth. The chef of the day gave us the recipe for the yummy veggy salad. Hmmm...I can't believe I said that. Yummy veggy salad. If you didn't know, JOANN and VEGGY don't go together very well. What's wrong with me these days?
Anyway, it was delicious. I took a picture of it...

Feeling hungry already? I've got the recipe. Hmmm...
Oh ya, a funny incident happened at work the other day. I was bringing some visitors around the hospital (like a tour guide) and while I was at the lobby, sharing with them the history of the hospital, a patient started walking towards me. He stopped beside me, touched my head with his index finger, and then continued on his journey. Ha...The visitors must have been quite freaked out but I thought it was a really funny sight.
It's mid week. Hang in there!
P.S - One more day to the Sound of Music. Argghhh...I can't wait!

Failure is not in my dictionary
I can't believe I failed my driving. (I think I've said this to myself at least 20 times already). But it's true. I can't believe I failed my driving. The feeling sucks big time man! I mean, I'm not depressed or anything. It's just that annoying feeling...The sort that makes you feel so #$%^&@...if you know what I mean. I can't believe I failed! Walau...Now I have to make another trip down to SSDC , queue up and pay another 6 bucks! Ggrrhh...Walau...I still can't believe I failed. Shit face.

My new pets
My colleagues Mavis, Genevieve and I bought two little terrapins today! We intend to put them in our office so that we can play with them whenever we're bored or stressed. And guess what we've named them? Toto and 4D! Ha...Toto is the female and 4D is the male. Ya, because the three of us always frequent the lottery shop after lunch...but I don't buy lottery everyday lar. I only buy toto when the prize money is over $1 million =)

I can't tell the difference so don't bother asking me who's who...

A trip to the zoo
Hil and I decided to do something a little different to celebrate our anniversary this year so....we went to the zoo!
Apart from visiting some of Hil's relatives, we spent the day looking and posing with all kinds of animals. Then at 2.30pm, we went for the Animal Show where Carlos the seal was performing. But five minutes into the performance, the emcee suddenly announced that the show will be cancelled and all of us are to proceed to the main entrance as part of an emergency drill. The first thing that came to mind was that they've discovered a bomb hidden somewhere...Hmmm...
Upon arriving at the main entrance, the staff then informed us that everything's under control and we can continue with our trip. Till now, we were still clueless and didn't know what was going on. But you see...being the quick-thinking and intellectual person that I am (*ok, puke now*), I starting thinking that maybe an animal has escaped. I mean, after all, we ARE at the zoo.
So anyway, we continued with our little excursion and eventually went home after a long and tiring day. Turns out that an animal did escape from the zoo! A jaguar actually. So ya...ha...

Hiking at MacRitchie
I'm not exactly the most sporty person around but the 11km hike at MacRitchie last Sat was really refreshing for me. Living in such a hectic and materialistic society, the contrast of fresh air and vast greenery has helped me to unwind while keeping fit. You guys should try it soon!
Anyway, I've uploaded some photo for your viewing pleasure!

Ulcers...
I am plagued with two humongous and excruciating ulcers. Hate it, hate it, hate it! One on each side of my upper lips. It's like bloody Mars attack. Although these unwelcomed visitors are frequently around, they really rock the boat hard this time - So much that I have to chew with my mouth wide open and smile with a constipated frown. Ggrrhh...You ought to meet them when you see me. They'll scare the heck out of you. I've named them Rachel and Kenny. No particular reason...They just happened to be standing around me when I had the naming ceremony.
Ouch...

Manic Monday
It's a Monday morning and I'm feeling so 'xian'. I've got a pile of work to do but I don't feel like doing it. Ggrrhh...Keeping myself busy with dried guava and pretending to type an email in the outlook express but I'm actually typing my blog. Hee hee...Ssshh...I'm USUALLY not like that.
Here's a picture of my workstation. (I'm actually testing out my new e-photo portal to see if it works. So ya, apparently it does.)

On the right, you can see a laptop. That's where I do my admin stuff and check my email, etc. On the left, there's a Mac computer which I use to do design work. Everything else in between is junk...Ok, not really. It started out as important documents which I needed to file but overtime, due to the amount of work I have, it has been left to pile up and I'm too lazy to file them now...

Farewell dear Pope...
I woke up this morning remembering that the Pope's funeral will be held today. And I knew this day couldn't pass without me saying my final farewells to my beloved Pope...Not that I'll be able to catch a last minute plane to Rome, but I guess the least I could do, and wanted to do, was to watch his funeral. Well, only one thing stood in my way - WORK. The good thing is that I've had an accumulation of time-offs...so using this opportunity, I went to my boss and requested to take the afternoon off. And of course, she gladly obliged. Thank God for a great boss like her!
So anyway, I'll be out of the office in a couple of minutes, making my way home to watch the Pope's funeral. I guess it's a form of closure for me...Not to say that I'm going to forget about this man....but rather, this is a time for me to get over his death and look forward to greater things to come.

The people's Pope
The death of a beloved Pope leaves behind such a bitter-sweet after taste in my mouth. On one hand, I'm grateful that God has removed him from all the pain and suffering he has been going through. Being a faithful servant, I'm certain that God will reward him greatly. On another hand, I'm deeply sadden that this world of ours has lost yet another peacemaker and leading example of righteousness.
No words can express my deep admiration and respect for this man. His love for mankind is a personification of Jesus on earth. His deep desire for peace has forever changed the role of a political figure head. His will to fight on despite sickness and pain has given many the courage to live.
My closest encounter with the great man is through my parents who were at the national stadium when he visited some 20 years ago. I was just a toddler then. Till today, my parents still speak fondly of their experience meeting the Pope. It was raining heavily that day..."Showers of blessings," my dad says.
I never thought that his death would hit me so much. It really felt like someone really close to me has died. Incidentally, his influence extends even after his death. Never have I seen the whole Catholic community around the world come together in such a united spirit of mourning and respect.
As the world awaits the emerging of a new pontiff, Pope John Paul II will forever remain an extraordinary character, dedicated in the service of God and passionate about the rights of mankind.

A strange happening
I was enjoying a plate of nasi lemak at the Kovan hawker centre when I suddenly realised that I had exceeded my lunch hour limit. So in a hurry, I ran to the main road in an attempt to catch a cab back to the office. It happened to be peak hour so traffic was rather high. Without much thought, I dashed across the busy road. The oncoming cars then started honking at me, but luckily, I managed to reach the other side of the road in one piece.
I was already 20 minutes late and still there were no cabs. Then suddenly, a police car pulled over in front of me. A young policeman came out of the vehicle holding a notebook and a pen. He came up to me, said he saw me jaywalking and wanted to issue me a fine. He scribbled on his notebook and handed it to me. When I saw it, I had a shock of my life. The fine was $8,000. I started crying and begged him to lower the fine, promising never to jaywalk again. The policeman thought about it for a while, and then soften up. He again scribbled something on his notebook. This time round, he handed me the fine and the amount has been reduced to $1,200. He asked if it was ok and I said yes. Then, he walked away.
My alarm clock started ringing and I woke up...glad that it was just a silly dream. Happy April Fool's Day!
