Another One!

Stick Insect that is - this time in the brown colourway. The head is at the top. It is holding the 3rd set of leggies together at the bottom.

Christchurch and the Canterbury area are still receiving many after-shocks - over 120 so far with some measuring as high as 5.1. I just heard on the radio news that the water supply has been thoroughly tested and has just now been given the all clear to drink (folks have had to boil all water for the past few days). The scientific boffins think this particular faultline hadn't moved for 16 thousand years, so you'll understand our suprise at Christchurch being hit!

All is fine at Mickle and Zebbycat's home this evening - I'm blogging and he's snoring.

So glad to hear that all is well with you, my friends in Christchurch are having a tough time but at least they are all OK.

The picture of the stick insect is great.

Look after yourself and Zebby. Take care. Diane xx

The NZ Herald website has a great video of a fly-over the 22 mile long fault line. SCARY!!!

So glad to read that you, Zebbycat and your family are all fine. In a world that seems to be full of disaster at the moment it was good to hear that no-one as killed. Dx

I'm glad Zebby doesn't try to play with the stick insects. It's amazing that the Christchurch faultline has been inactive for so long! I'm glad you and Zebby are safe.

Thats a long time to go without an earthquake. Lets hope WE don't get one. I suppose anything is possible these days with Global Warming and all that.

I'm glad you told me the head was at the top, or I'd have had no idea at all!

I didn't know that the fault hadn't been active for so long - all I knew was that Christchurch wasn't supposed to get earthquakes like this. Napier yes, Christchurch no. It's all been a bit of a shock.

I don't want to think what would happen in Dunedin if there was a huge earthquake - all those houses higgledy piggledy on the hills above one another, and known slippage areas. It could be an absolute disaster. Let's just hope and pray it never happens.

So glad you are okay, Michelle, and that the shaking isn't being too disruptive to you and Zebby!
