First day of school

Big B had his first day of first grade today. He was thrilled and a little scared but he did so well! As I drove to the school to drop him off, I asked if he would like me to walk him in and take him to his classroom. He calmly assured me that he could manage on his own and added, "If I need help, I'll just ask an adult, mom." After school he was tuckered out, but proud that he made a new friend and tried several times to be kind to his classmates. These are pictures from the early morning as we were leaving. Could there be anything sweeter than this brave, compassionate little boy? I teared up several times today just thinking about him. It's hard to comprehend how much you love them until they grow up and go on their way...

Best purchase of the summer...

We purchased an $30 plastic pool with a built in slide for the backyard and WOW has it been wonderful! B & A will play out there all afternoon whenever I need some extra time for chores and other mom tasks. I place the pool right outside the window so I can keep an eye on them. Toss in a few cups and bath toys and voila! What a great way to stay cool in the usual 100 degree Houston weather while aiding my productivity. Definitely a great purchase.

Fatigue & Nesting

This post is for my sister who begged me to post a picture of my large belly. Of course I took the picture myself - sorry for the novice presentation. The doctor kindly informed me that my stomach is measuring large, probably indicating a large baby. So much for my history of each consecutive baby getting smaller! Apparently this will be one big boy.

My pregnancy update can be summed up in two words: fatigue and nesting. By about 7:30pm I am completely exhausted, and I become a zombie companion for Michael as we try to watch the Olympics for an hour. Really this means that I sleep on the couch while he watches and then updates me on the highlights later. Also, I have that good ol' nesting urge again (more than ever) and even set out "back to school" decorations this year. The kids love the seasonal decor so I pretend I do it for them, but really it's for me. :) We are also in the process of redoing our baby room, boy style, and converting it to a guest room. Talk about nesting!
