I'm 1!

Well since we just celebrated Clara Rose's 1st birthday I couldn't resist posting a few photos to capture the last year of our lives as a family of 4.  This little girl has certainly changed our lives in the most wonderful ways.  She has given us so much JOY.  It is amazing how God can pour more love into your heart, when you thought it maxed out!  One big lesson I have learned in the last year is my need to rely on the Holy Spirit for all my strength, all my joy and even my energy.

A verse I have depended on recently is
"Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit" says the Lord God Almighty
Zechariah 4:6

Much of my (little) spare time is spent reaching for inspiring words or scripture, because I have found these to be the best encouragement.  I have recently found tremendous inspiration in the book Stepping Heavenward, by Elizabeth Prentiss.  This book was given to me by my dear sister in law many years ago.  But only recently have I been able to devour it as I often feel that I am striving so hard to be a woman of faith, yet going no where. Particularly in the task of being a mom, when the duties and tasks that make up a day often seem meaningless and trite; yet to a child, they compose her whole world and the manner with which I carry out these duties has the potential to nurture or crush her spirit; to guide her in truth or not!  Now finding that perspective gives me focus to do what it is before me.  And to find motivation to persevere and endure in patience, love and compassion I must be connecting moment by moment to my Savior.

I am thankful that the little people in my life right now direct me to the place which I am in.  Ever joyful, in thankful anticipation for the next phase, full of love; yet bewildered, exhausted and throwing my hands up to God who alone can answer my prayers.

Happy Birthday sweet Clara!  I am thankful God has blessed us with your amazing life.  We learn so much from you and wait in joyful anticipation to see the plans God has for you.

An attempt at a family pic.
This picture cracks me up because it is so hard to get a good picture of all 4 of us.  But we tried.

Her ice cream birthday party, celebrated with many fun friends and even both sets of grandparents!

And rewind through the past 12 months just for kicks...
