Christmas 2014

We are a little startled to learn that it has been more than 4 years since we last posted an update to this family blog. While these years have passed quickly our neglect is not surprising since most of our online socializing has moved to Facebook, text or other channels. It’s nice to see some of our old memories still preserved here and that we can add some new ones that are more appropriate for this kind of distribution. Now we add another post, directed mostly to the grandparents of our children as our gift to you this Christmas.

For a few years now we have had the idea of recording the voices of our children as they read the Christmas story (Luke 2), A Christmas Carol, or other favorite stories. This endeavor hasn't come together in previous years for a variety reasons such as the effort and planning to execute it, the requisite buy-in of the young narrators, and some wonder if the end result would be worth the effort. Well, for 2014 it came together and it wasn’t as difficult as we had imagined and hopefully hearing your grandsons read some stories to you will be as meaningful to you as it to us. We wish we had started this when we first had the idea years ago when these boys’ voices were sweet and innocent. Now some of the voices are deep and manly but we hope you enjoy having these classics read to you by boys that years ago likely heard these same tales being read to them by you. Maybe in the future we will add some more recordings to other great books? Ideas welcome...

We love you and wish you all Merry Christmas!

childhood memory relived

this video is a reenactment of an event that happened when mark was around five years old. he and the boys filmed this on a quiet saturday about five years ago. we had never done much editing of the files just filmed the different scenes with plans to stitch them together some day. it's priceless to see the boys this many years later and recall the day of filming. the sound and video aren't the greatest and there may be some inaccuracies in mark's memory of the event. the best part is max trying not to laugh during the climax of the plot where the stick is supposed to be stuck. enjoy!
