Stowe Gardens bday walk

Conversations with Bryn and the Exploits of Ellis

Mom: What would you like to plant in our greenhouse?
Bryn: Cocoa. [he knows that chocolate comes from cocoa]
Mom: Hmmmm...not sure that's going to work. Cocoa usually grows in really hot countries.
Bryn: We could grow it in the oven!

Bryn has amazing problem solving skills too. For example, we decided to go to the library and before we left I mentioned that we could maybe get Ellis a library card (Bryn already has one). When we got there I realized I had forgotten Bryn's card and I told them I wasn't sure we were going to be able to take out any books. Then Bryn said 'Why don't we get a library card for Ellis and then take the books out with his card.' So brilliant! I hadn't even thought of that!

Ellis is very big for his age. In the 90th percentile for height and weight and already outgrowing some three year old clothes even though he is only 2 and a half. He is also remarkably coordinated and physically capable. He came into our bedroom carrying our little waterproof camera which usually lives on the top of our bookshelf where even I have to stretch to get it. Kevin asked him where did you get that? and Ellis said 'I'll show you.' and proceeded to demonstrate how he got a chair, put it next to the bookshelf and then climbed up to the top shelf and grabbed the camera. Egads! I can see the whole bookshelf coming down on him.

ok, just realized that this looks like a whole bunch of bragging about my kids. really not intending it this way. Just wanting to share with everyone what the kids are like these days. It is so hard living far away, especially as we just had time with our whole family and all our relatives in Mexico. Don't want them to forget what my boys are like.

First flowers! In the backyard by the deck...

There are also some coming up where Papa Lloyd planted along the edge of the maze. Mostly Iris's. (Iri?)

Happy anniversary jr and bean!

We had a wonderful celebration last night to commemorate 45 years together for my parents. We had a fanatstic tapas meal catered. Highly recommend it. Great food that everyone could eat at their own pace and we didn't have to do any work! Then we watched a slideshow full of memories. Can't believe the amount of living in those 45 years. Lots of laughter and visiting, love and music. I have really enjoyed being here with my whole family and sharing some time together. Especially getting to know my fantastic nephews and darling niece.
