Last month I was lucky to receive two! Liebster blogawards. 

One given by Mirjam from Hallo September and the other by Karin from Interieurstylist. 

I decided to not pass it through to other bloggers. Not because I don't know nice blogs who deserve it. But because many of those blogs already received this award once or even more than once. 

Still I wanted to thank and mention the lovely blogcolleagues who gave me one, because their blogs are really worth following!

And since I like to share something of myself on my blog I also decided to answer the questions they asked me:

What’s your favourite moment of the day?

I have more than one favourite moment of the day. But when I have to make a choice it's the evening being at home, spending time with the kids, having time to blog or just do nothing in particular. I would love to have more hours in one day :)

As a child what did you want to become ‘when I’m old’? (And did you?) 

I wanted to become a stewardess and I almost did after finishing my psychology study and working a few years in a recruitment job. But when I got hired by KLM, I changed plans. With mixed feelings: feeling sorry for having missed all that inspiration while travelling, but also happy for having continued my HR career.

What’s your favourite magazine? 

I am an addict when it comes to interior magazines, with VTwonen being my favourite! But also inspired by MILK magazine and La Petite Mag. 

Do you eat Chines food with chopsticks?

We don't eat Chinese food a lot, but love Italian food!

Tell about a family tradition.

Almost every sunday we have breakfast together called 'ontbijtje-met-een-eitje'. So nice to start this day-off together after a busy schedule during weekdays.

Do you mind losing a (board) game? 

We don't play games a lot, but I don't like to lose, unless I play games with my children :)

Red or white wine?

Definitely white.

Name your favourite city

Amsterdam, because it feels so relaxed to be there. Love shopping in 'de 9 straatjes' and to wander around in the Jordaan. But I would love to show Paris to the kids soon, or go to Berlin or New York with my husband. In the mood for much more citytrips in the future!

If you could choose another first name which one would it be? 

Evelyn. It's my second name and I've always loved it.

What's the first blog you read after starting up your computer? 

While using the bloglist on my own blog to follow others, it is usually the most recent blogpost posted by any of these great blogs.

Why did you start blogging?

At the time I started my blog I still had my webshop KEET&koter, selling interior and kids accessories. While searching for styling ideas and new products, I just felt the urge to share the pictures that inspired me.

What is your favourite season of the year?

Being born in june I love the summer, enjoying the sun and oh my those long days....

Vinyl or CD?

I listen to music on my iPod :)

What inspires you?

Pinterest, Instagram, my favourite blogs, magazines, my kids and daily life!

What's your favourite music?

I have an eclectic musical taste. Recently I downloaded some up-tempo music to start running again.

What do you think is beautiful about yourself?

I'm happy to have a positive view on life. Knowing this will help me in good and bad times

What's your favourite thing to do?

Enjoying the little blessings of everyday life spent with the ones I love and trust.

Your way to spent me-time?

At home: styling, reading magazines, blogging, pinning, making pictures, actually getting inspired en sharing inspiration.

saint nicolas arrived today

In the Netherlands we celebrate the B-day of Saint Nicolas on the 5th of December. And every year he arrives in our country in November to celebrate the preparations of his birthday, like filling shoes of kids with small presents once in a while. Because he doesn't receive gifts on his birthday but gives presents to all kids in our country. A tradition we pass on to every next generations for centuries. With gifts, poems and surprises.

Today he arrived in Holland and my kids placed their shoes in front of the DIY fireplace singing special Saint Nicholas songs. So now it's my turn to take care of the presents :)

Stylecookie developed some inspiring surprises for the 5th of December in association with Flair, a lovely dutch magazine. You can find the descriptions on their great site!

Two of my favorite blogs started a marvellous online magazine called SIGN.
SIGN is an art and design cross-over magazine. They share their passion through photography and visual illustration. There first edition is available on their new blogsite SIGN moa+holmberg.

Tijdschriften zijn niet tijdloos. Laatst vertelde iemand mij tijdschriften niet langer te bewaren dan een jaar. Tijdens het doorbladeren van mijn knipselmap zag ik inderdaad dat veel niet meer van deze tijd is, maar deze foto is voor mij nog steeds helemaal van nu. Met veel wit, sloophout, stoere materialen, en mooie kleuraccenten. 

Bovendien doet het me verlangen naar mooi weer, de buitendeur open en genieten van de zon!

Magazines aren't timeless. A while ago somebody told me to throw away all magazines which were more than a year old. And while running through my torned out magazine pictures I realized that she was perhaps right to do so. Except for a few pictures like this one. Timeless white, scrap wood, rugged basics and colorful accents. 

It also makes me long for summer, living with all doors wide open and enjoying the sun!

I really love interior magazines; 'wandering around' in great houses, getting styling ideas and shop-till-you-drop tips and dreaming about all those great cities, events and places-to-be while being at home!

From now on I want to share pictures on my blog that insprire me in all those wonderful magazines in the old fashioned way; collected in a map instead of pinning them on a new fashion Pinterest-board.

This first mag*love post is a picture of a girls room in VTwonen edition may 2012.
Loving the combination of white, soft pink, yellow and neon, especially the neon pink desk lamp by Jieldé. And enjoying the flowery Midsummer lamp by Tord Boontje which has a place in our own bedroom.

stoere styling

Deze week kwam ik op Pinterest de bovenste foto tegen van de stoere kinderkamer van Bruin. Een foto met veel styling herinneringen nadat ik de reportage ongeveer 8-9 jaar geleden zag in KEK.

De foto's waren destijds de inspiratiebron voor de restyling van de kamer van Sam in een stoere jongenskamer met een bruine muur, witte letters, zwarte stoere accessoires en een klein koeienvel.

Bij de opstart van KEET 4 jaar kregen de foto's een plaats op het moodboard die de basis vormde voor inkoop van producten zoals de manden van autoband, de paardschommel en stoere gebreide knuffels. 

De pagina met de foto van de bruine wand is inmiddels ergens verloren geraakt, maar de rest van de reportage zit nog steeds in mijn papieren knipselmap, oftewel mijn Pinterest 1.0.

De styling van deze kinderkamer blijft echt prachtig en is een mooi voorbeeld dat styling met een hoofdletter S soms echt tijdloos kan zijn en zich kan onttrekken aan trends.

This week I saw the picture of Bruin's room on Pinterest. About nine years ago I saw this interior in KEK and it inspired me to change Sam's room into a cool boys room with a brown wall, white letters black accessories and a small cowshide. The pictures were also part of the moodboard use to inspire our KEET-webshop-concept in 2008.

I always kept the pages published in KEK: to me it is an example that styling with a capital S can withstand the test of time.

bloginspiratie: Paulina Arcklin

Deze week het blog van Paulina Arcklin. De geweldige, witte en mooi minimalistische inrichting van  voormalige huis in Helsinki staat deze maand in vtwonen. Op dit moment woont ze in Amsterdam waar ze haar werk als woonredacteur en styliste heeft voortgezet. Naast interieur en styling is fotografie een van haar grote passies, met een voorkeur voor trouwen, kids, dieren en paarden. Je kunt de foto's van haar hand terugvinden op haar fotografie blog.
