Next Project is My Tree House!

Ok - as a kid I never had a tree house and really really wanted one.   So..... what is stopping me now?
I think we all need a little place to dream and a little tree house where we can escape.  I did have a wonderful Magnolia tree that I could climb any time I wanted.  But never a house in the trees.  Oh I am so looking into this...   What do you think - a craft room in the tree tops?  Here is a start

loving this tree house

Oh - this one takes effort but I just bet it is worth all the work. And what a view from that tree top
So far this is my favorite

I am not missing it this time!  Not no way, not no how  :)

Final Results l Golfweek Feature on Strandberg

SIMPSONVILLE, KY. - East Carolina's Julia Strandberg continued her stellar play during her senior season Tuesday afternoon taking home the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup individual title with a 1-over par 145 in just her fourth career start and helped the Pirates (23-1) record their second-straight top-2 finish of the season.

Strandberg, whose previous career-best finish (third) came last week at the Golfweek Program Challenge, carded a tournament-best 2-under par 70 (36-34) on the final day. To avoid a possible playoff, the Greensboro native birdied two of her final three holes to claim medalist honors over Amanda Baker (N.C. State) and AnnaKarin Ljungstrom (Louisville), who both finished tied for second place.

"I'm very proud of how we performed as a team this week," said head coach Kevin Williams. "This event was a good measuring stick for us early and I am pleased at where we are. We still have some work to do, but overall it is a good start for the program.

"Right now I couldn't be any happier for Julia and what she has accomplished so far this season," Williams continued. "She exemplifies what a true student-athlete is all about and it's great to see her have all this success after battling through some injuries."

Sophomore Fanny Wolte, who was tied for first heading into today's action, posted a 6-over 78 (37-41) to finish tied for sixth place with a 36-hole score of 150 marking her seventh career top-10 finish. True freshman Katie Kirk claimed her second-straight top-12 finish with a final round 2-over par 74 (39-35) registering her lone birdie of the afternoon on the 13th hole.

Rounding out the Pirates roster were senior Amy Otteson (152) who carded a 4-over par 76 (39-37) for a share of 17th and sophomore Faith Hardison (163) who finished 68th. Freshman Emily Eng finished tied for 41st in her first collegiate tournament as an individual after posting a 12-over 156 (78-78).

N.C. State claimed the team title with a tournament score 596 (20-over) finishing two shots ahead of the Pirates (598). Missouri (605) took third, while host school Louisville (608) and Penn State (610) rounded out the top five.

The Pirates will be back in action on Oct. 10-11 when they host the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Country Club.

Golfweek College Golf at Pawley's Island! I'm Heading to the Coast!

The inaugural Golfweek Program Challenge will be played at True Blue Golf Resort, left, and Caledonia Golf Course in Pawleys Island, S.C.

I'm off to Pawley's Island in beautiful South Carolina to watch my baby girl and her ECU golf team compete.  It's a unique tournament format where the Men's teams compete at True Blue and the Women are at Caledonia.  They each compete for the Men and Women individual team titles but the added twist here is that they will combine the men and women's scores to determine the Program Champion.  If you like you can learn more here   All I can say is I am looking forward to being at the Carolina coast!  (And just happy there isn't a hurricane lurking out there )

A New Life for My Old Cane Chair

Today I want to share my guest post I did for Craftionary.
It all started with this old chair I found at Habitat Restore.  Well, you know how sometimes you have too many unfinished projects?  That's me, so I kept on walking.   I bought some small thing but kept thinking about the chair.  It was $10.  As I was getting in my car I realized I really wanted this chair.  The fabric was in bad shape but the chair itself was in good shape.  I bought this lovely in May and after tossing around lots of color and fabric ideas around in my head I finally "recreated" it this month.
There were so many fabrics and colors I loved but in the end it had to be something that could work with  the cane siding.  There was a polka dot fabric and a Chevron one that I adored but, it wasn't happening - too much pattern and I don't want anyone getting dizzy looking at my chair!   So... I  decided to use the Waverly Button Blooms fabric I bought earlier and love so much.  It is pictured with the cotton clothes line I found cheap at Walmart to make cording for the chair.
Then on to the paint.  With this fabric there were several choices.  I chose blue and was delighted to see that Valspar makes Waverly Fabric inspired paint.  I bought a $3 sample bottle of Blue Sail - it was all I needed and still have a bit left for a smaller project.  Amazing.
I started by turning the chair over and removing the screws holding the seat in place.  I'm not quite sure why but.............
There was a board attached to another board that had a large cut out area.  Made no sense to me and if any of you out there have an explanation for this I would LOVE to hear from you.  Needless to say, all the old foam was tossed
And I didn't remove this tag.  Even though it is pretty scary looking!
Next up was painting this baby. (I won't bore you with removing the old fabric or the gazillion staples that had to be removed.  :)  What a job that was!)
Once the chair was ready I used Rustoleum 2X Satin Heirloom White as a primer just because I had it on hand.  Then painted the Valspar Blue Sail onto my chair.  One coat was pretty much all it needed except for a few spots.
This picture (above) is with the pattern I made using posterboard for the back panels.

Annie Sloan on Clay Pots

My daughter needed a quick "thank you" gift for a very special couple.  So we bought a lovely fern from a local nursery here in town.  We found the clay pot at Lowe's.  It wasn't very special looking so I pulled out the last bit of my AS Old White and painted the planter.  Added a coat of clear wax and distressed a bit.  (I need to work on my technique here)  She wrote a special note that we attached with some twine we had.  It's sweet and simple but we think it is something they could use anywhere in their lovely home.
I don't know why but I have really enjoyed the Annie Sloan paint on smaller projects like my little birdie planter and the pots for my pink shutter.

I always love a good party :)
