Moving Time!!

Our family blog is  now going to be at a new web address:  mergenthalers.wordpress.com I know I haven't been super consistent about sharing pictures and stories, but I do believe this medium is an important way to record our family experiences. I love looking back through the pictures and re-reading, and the kids do too. Thank you for the encouragement, Chelsey!!!!  I'm making a commitment to be a little better at posting on the new web site. I'm hoping the switch will make it easier for me. See you on Wordpress!

Blogger Woes

I've discovered the Blogger app for iPhone just isn't a thing anymore, making it very difficult to keep this blog up to date on the go. I rarely have time to sit down at the computer at home. What do my blogging friends to to keep blogs up to date?  I use our blog mostly as a way to journal with pictures that are on my phone, and to keep family and friends up to date without filling up their Instagram of Facebook feeds so that I can publish those cute little Chatbooks. Any advice?  It's possible that blogging just old school. Maybe I can just print a book of what I have  and close down the website. Maybe use a different platform?  Please share your best advice/ideas.

California

The blogger app keeps crashing and deleting what I have written. Too bad you guys won't be able to appreciate my witty description of these pictures of my trip to The Saldivar family temple sealing.  Maybe if I publish piece by piece, you'll get a little more description. If the post is suddenly just pictures and no words, you'll know  I gave up. Maybe I can write short, choppy descriptions of the pics and save in between so I'm not sad when Blogger erases my well-thought out paragraphs.

Had Enough Yet?

I'm almost finished with the pictures. This blog would be a lot more helpful to the readers if I shared everything we learned about the Metro, how to order good food, what Parisians wear, and that sort of stuff. But for a simplified record of our trip, this will do.

Magnifique!

I'm going to throw some pictures on here while we wait for the 8 hour plane ride back to Chicago. I think these pictures are mostly from Thursday and Friday.  Beneath the Louvre. This is the excavated castle portion. Before the Louvre was a museum or palace, it was a  medieval fortress. I thought the dungeon was pretty cool.  Napleon's tomb. That's cute Laura Fletcher in the background. I joined her and Alyssa (two of Emily's friends) along with Laura's parents for the day. Rick was presenting his paper at HEC and I was a little nervous about roaming around unfamiliar areas on my own. Luckily, their trip to Paris happened to overlap ours by a couple of days.  On Friday, we experienced some famous artwork at the Musee D'Orsay. Monet's paintings were my favorite.  But seeing Van Gogh's work in person was neat too.  I loved how this cafe at Orsay was decorated. The colorful glass chairs were so bright and cheery while also seeming elegant. The Orsay museum ...

Je Parle Un Peu Francais

Rick and I have been in Paris. I'm worried I won't have time to post much about it. But since I'm up at 2:30 am on a Saturday night in Paris because I'm having a hard time adjusting to the 7 hour time difference, I can at least upload some pictures. There are a lot of funny stories that I could tell about our adventures with the witty details that I know you all love to read. Someday--- For now, here's the first few days with short descriptions: Grand palace??  I still haven't verified this.  It's a fancy building that we happened upon on our first afternoon walking around when we were completely lost and didn't know how to use the metro.  Fancy bridge.  Eiffel Tower, of course: Good food from a bakery.  I don't know any of the French names of these items. So I will call them, les delicious.  Top of Eiffel Eiffel at night. Because even though we expected to have moved on from this particular site, we were still lost and trying to find our way to the ...
