House of Peranakan

The original agenda was a boat trip to celebrate my parents' anniversary, but something happened to the the boat's propeller yesterday, so the trip was postponed. We went to House of Peranakan for dinner instead. Edmund and girlfriend joined us as well. The food was ok.. Not really a fan of Peranakan food actually. And my grandaunty's buah keluah is infinitely better than any restaurant's!

We weren't very happy when they gave us such a small table, even though my bro-in-law made a reservation early in the afternoon. There was only one table in the whole restaurant that could comfortably seat more than 10 people. I was rather pissed when they expected us (nine adults plus 2 baby chairs) to squeeze at a table which usually seats only about eight people, and they gave the big table to another family which had only six adults plus four children. I suspect that they were walk-in customers too.

We had a cake from Secret Recipe for dessert. It was wonderfully creamy, and had chocolate sprinkles on the outside. I don't usually eat sweet stuff, but this was really good. :)

Jumbo

Had dinner at SAFRA Resort's Jumbo Seafood Restaurant with my dad's friend Uncle Dave and his family. Still think I like the East Coast Seafood Centre branch better! But it's probably because we've been going to that one ever since I can remember. The food was very good.. Especially the Cereal Prawns which Uncle Dave requested to come peeled for us! That was really great, 'coz I actually like the flavour of the dish, but I have a hard time separating the flesh from the shells.

The Age of Superheroes

The two best movies of the year. (In my book, anyhow.)

Ironman
Incredibly awesome. The technology is so way cool. Many hilarious moments. Have seldom laughed so often or hard watching any movie, even so-called "comedies". Gwyneth Paltrow is simply perfect as Pepper Pots.

The Dark Knight
Wild. Dark. Crazy. A nod to the late Heath Ledger as the brilliant but deranged Joker. Sorry Jack, you've been outplayed. Christian Bale is oh so handsome. I wonder if they couldn't get a better looking chiobu to play Rachel though..

Wii party

Invited the gang over for dinner and games! Adrian brought over a bottle of Absolut Mango and his Wii. I think Mario Kart, Mario Party 8 and Boom Blox were fun! Herby made a lovely dinner of bruschettas, spaghetti and butter mushrooms! Maw contributed some delicious sausages too. Mixed some drinks with the mango vodka after dinner, tried a few recipes and decided that the Mango Breeze tasted the best!

Herby's Birthday!

Herby initially wanted to eat at Pasta de Waraku at Central, but it was fully booked. After pleading with the receptionist, she said that the most she could do for me is give me a que number. So we went there to try our luck and waited. After 45 minutes, we were told that the table we were waiting for would take another 20 minutes because their friend had just walked in and ordered another round of food. Hungry and restless by this time, we gave up and walked over to the Manhattan Fish Market instead. Ordered a Fishermen's Giant Fried Platter and Giant Flaming Whole Lobster Platter to share.. Check out pics on Inkdot's Blog! There was fish, prawns, mushrooms, mussels and garlic rice.. Food was pretty yummy! After dinner we went down to Brewerkz and shared a Golden Ale tower.

Happy Birthday Herby! ^^

Mom's Birthday

Dinner at Peach Garden was great! I felt stuck in the middle when they wanted to order Sharks' Fin Soup, 'coz my mom loves it, but then it was Earth Day.. In the end, we didn't order it. Phew!

Happy Mothers' Day!

Had a yummy brunch at Mimolette to celebrate Mothers' Day! The ambiance was lovely, but the service could have been better. The Crepes with Banana and Nutella was divine.
