Warren Middle School Volleyball

A couple of weeks ago Gracie took part in volleyball tryouts with 136 other girls. It was a rollercoaster ride! The first day she came home happy with her performance. The second day she was happy in how she did, but disappointed she didn’t get to show her skills. The third day was all tears as she battle a choice between being with friends who didn’t know how to play or leaving those friends to play with girls that were more at her skill level in order to show the coaches what she can do. By day four she was happy to report she had been selected for the B team! The coach asked her teammates who played setter, when no one raised their hand Gracie stepped up. She is a huge part of the team and (humbly) enjoys the spotlight as she helps the other girls learn their positions. This week they battled hard at a middle school tournament and walked away with a 2nd place plaque. I’m so proud of her endurance as she navigates the rough waters of middle school!

The last two weeks have been a blast for Coda and Gracie. Coda went to Waco for his High Adventure. He loved spelunking! Some spots got a little tight, but he said he didn’t get too nervous.

Gracie enjoyed her first girls camp. Although herbest friend, Grace, wasn’t with her she was still able to have a great time and get to know the other girls better.

While they were gone the house was cleaner and quieter, but not complete. I’m so grateful for the leaders that watched over them and continue to help them grow spiritually.

Now This Is Baseball!

Over Memorial weekend we got to watch some amazing baseball! On Saturday and Sunday the boys played three games losing one which placed them in the losers bracket for Monday. We walked into the Field of Dreams expecting to walk back out a few hours later, however Texas Faith boys had a better idea. They played six games back to back; more than twelve hours of tough baseball. Because they were in the losers bracket they had to beat the number one team twice in order to wear the gold ring. The first game they jumped ahead enough the other team had no chance of coming back, but the second game was much closed and the Faith just could pull the win. However, no matter the outcome of that game these boys has hearts like champions!

Wedgie and Gizmo

This girl is getting better and better with her cakes. She did this for her book report Wedgie and Gizmo and it was amazing!

Gracie + Grace = BFFs

These two are true friends. We’ve loved having Grace in our home over the last few years but we were so sad to see her go. They’ve made some wonderful memories and really helped each other along the way.

Nashville, Tennessee

I was overtop excited for this trip with my parents and big sister. We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame where saw treasures from all country legends and the Grand Ol’ Opry where Wynona Judd stood feet away from us. We also walked downtown Nasheville and ate at the Honky Tonk bar. Drue has read all about their delicious moon pies and fried bologna sandwiches. Believe it or not, the sandwich was amazing! And we all got a kick out of the famous Moon Pie the bar tender threw on our table!

We enjoyed some good food, cards and relaxation at Drue’s home in Alabama. Hiking was awesome and so beautiful. Mom and Dad ended up flying out earlier so Drue and I went to the Belmont mansion where we heard a great history about the strength and resilience of Adelicia Acklen. It was such a great trip and I can’t wait for another!

Volleyball 2019

This girl played her heart out this season. She had a tough coach that made the majority of the season almost unbearable. She had to thicken her skin and overcome so many emotional challenges, but in the end it only made her stronger. I’m so very proud of this girl and her resilience.

I was so bummed I missed this team’s first gold medal in the gold bracket. I was in Ohio training for a new job when this beauty helped achieve ateam goal of gold medal in the gold bracket, but I heard she played amazing!

We traveled to Oklahoma City for the weekend to watch this girl kill it at her first club tournament. She was extremely nervous anddidn’t sleep much the night before, but shewent out and played awesome!

Merry Christmas

We were so blessed to have family be here with us for Christmas. We enjoyed playing cards, ginger bread build-off and just hanging out. It was such a wonderful Christmas!

Warrior Basketball

We’re so happy that Coda decided to tryout for the eighth grade basketball team at Warren. Originally he made the B team, but he’s it was packed with 15 boys and playing time was short. We were all happy when they moved him down to Cteam where he got more playing time and was able to grow in the game. It was so much fun to watch him!

GOLD!

For years the Texas Faith team have been fighting for a gold ring. This season they’ve been blessed with good kids and quality players. Last night, after playing in temps hovering around forty degrees, they finally claimed a gold ring! Coda had some great catches in left field, laid down some awesome bunts, and hit one deep between left field and center. So happy for him and all his progress!

Warren Basketball 2018, First Game

I’m so proud of Coda for trying out for the Warren Middle School basketball team. He played when he was very little, but has had no other team experience, yet he still managed to make the B team. We are so happy to come and watch him as he learns more about the game of basketball. Love ya, kid!
