NOW, For a commercial break from our usual blogger.
Hi, this is Bronwen. Sariah’s Mama. I am her guest blogger today.
Of course, she is at school, so doesn’t actually KNOW I am guest blogging…details, details. I better hurry. She’ll be home in an hour!
Anyway, I wanted to brag about her a bit.
This is my baby. What a cutie!!
Sariah is a girly-girl. She has NEVER wanted to get down and dirty, or any kind of dirty. She’s a softie kitty girl.
See!!
When she was 15 months old, I got out the finger painting paper and paints. Nope, no way.
OK, let’s try PUDDING. Then she can lick her hands clean and not be upset at being dirty. Nope, no way. *sigh*
Sariah is my girly- girl. She carried a baby doll at 12 months, carried her own purse at 18 months with her church snack and sippy cup in it. The only sport she’s done is ballet at 5 years old. Girly-girl stuff.
Which brings us to her 8th grade year at Middle School. She went out for Cross Country. She went out and ROCKED Cross Country! Most of the rest of the team had been practicing since the beginning of August. She and Miranda came into the season 2 weeks into the school year mid-September. A few weeks in, Sariah strained her knee. She had to sit out for about 5 weeks. Bummer.
But…she dressed out and was there for every practice. Every meet. Every one. Good for her!! As the end of the season approached she was able to run again. By the last meet Sariah got her time down to 17 minutes 45 seconds for her 2 mile run.
My NON-athletic girl is an athlete. Cross country is the right kind of sport for her. It’s a team sport, so of course you compete with the other runners out there on the course. But I think it is mostly a sport where you compete with yourself, always bettering your time, running harder, faster, better. Sariah developed her skills and will continue to as she continues to run, hopefully growing to love the feeling you get when you are out there running. Stress relief and exercise are built in bonuses, as well.
Here are some pictures and video clips of one of the meets. It was held in Pinckney on the new course.

You ROCK Riah!! I am so blessed to be your Mama. Thanks for coming to my family.
Love, Mama
Thank you all for letting me gush over my girl.
