Nobu Melbourne

Jonny boy decided to surprise me before I flew back to Malaysia to celebrate my belated birthday with the family....

Yes, a beautiful dinner @ the infamous Nobu Melbourne~!

We have intended to try this hyped up restaurant many times in the past, but never really had the opportunity to, until he decided to come home that night, and told me he had made reservations for the both of us! *beams*

We started the night with fresh oysters - with 3 flavours. I can't quite remember what they were, but they tasted delightful! :) I personally loveeeeee oysters, so this might be biased opinion, haha! But the flavourings did make it somewhat different from the usual "oysters with lemon / lime / tobasco". It was yum!! Thumbs up for this dish from me...

We were forewarned that the portions were gonna be pretty small, so we ordered quite a number of dishes to be shared between the both of us.

Yes, I AM happy~! Wheeeeeee....

Man, I think I'm getting chubbier by the day! Will blog more about it later - Went to Penang for a relaxation and feasting holiday with the family, so fat's accumulating by the minute~!

Thanks baby for the wonderful surprise birthday dinner!!

Next on our palate, was the sashimi taco's. We had four little taco wraps - of raw tuna, raw salmon, lobster and crab. I'd definitely go back for more of this dish! I could just eat multiples of this, and nothing else. Hehehe...

Next on the menu was the soft shell crab.

Mei posing with the soft shell crabs :) hehe...

The crabs were tempura fried to perfection - accompanied with some lemon sauce, a tinge of sea salt and a dash of pepper. I thought it tasted better without the added spices :) They were good, but even better just by itself. You can have a better taste of the crabs that way.

Also a thumb's-up for this dish from me.

Next on the list was the scallops, cooked with mushrooms and asparagus, in spicy garlic sauce. It was alrite, but wasn't one of my favourites.

We still finished it none-the-less.

Then we had the duck hotpot, with mushrooms and ramen. The soup was good with the duck, but was wayyyy too salty when consumed with the ramen or the enoki mushrooms.

The morton bay bug. I felt this dish was a disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, and wouldn't order it again if I were to frequent Nobu. The combination, I felt... was rather weird. and after having mushrooms and asparagus in our previous dish, having the same sort of garnishing felt rather boring.

Last to be savoured was the infamous wagyu beef! Soooo succulently tender, it was one of the nicer steaks we've had! Too bad we were quite full from all the other dishes previously, so we didn't enjoy it to the fullest! But having said that, it was still good, even on a really full stomach! Juicily yummy.... Definitely a winner this one :)

Tonight, we're having abalone dinner as my belated birthday celebration! Will update more when able!! :) Sorry I haven't been updating more regularly, but have been caught up previously, playing host to mom's friend who came to Melbourne, and been busy with work amongst other things!

Now that I'm on holidays, will definitely try to blog more regularly... anyone out there still reading? *just curious*

Jonny boy is Jonny man now

This is another super backdated post! His birthday was more than a month ago! Hehehe... I just realised that I have saved this post in my draft, but have yet had the chance to complete the post and publish it!

Gosh, I'm soooo slow~!

It was Pisces boy's birthday some time ago....

We had Jon's little birthday dinner @ Monk and Me. We go there like.... ALOT!! and brought Uncle Peter there for dinner one night. He loves the food sooo much that he insisted that we have Jon's birthday dinner there... so yeah...

Jon and Mei - I brought him a bouquet of flowers for his birthday. Went to the restaurant early, before everyone else arrived, to drop the flowers off, and gave orders to the wait staff to bring the bouquet out when everyone's arrived! My way of embarassing the boy I suppose!! Hahaha.... and who said anything about men not receiving flowers??

This place is nothing foreign to us, but being in the company of the family only makes it even better. And we got to order alot more food than what we usually do, which was another plus! :)

Mei and Amy - camwhoring in the toilet :P Amy is growing up to be really vain! Haha... She's at the stage where she's putting make-up on, and retouching her gloss everytime she eats! which is quite a sight... I remember being really vain when I was in high school as well! I had to make sure that my hair was perfect, with no fly-aways!

After dinner, we went back to Cle's place for tea and coffee, and of course the birthday cake!! :)

Jon doesn't look like he's turning 30 soon, does he?? He still looks like a young boy to me! Hehe. Yes yes, call me whatever you want! I have got a thing for young looking, cute boys... so sue me! bleh!

Haha, my boy's only 10 years old!! **we only had 10 candles, and Cle said we should use them all, so**

There you go, my very backdated entry!!

Baby, I miss you so much. Can't wait to be home to cuddle you! Hope the boy's not being too clingy... hehe. He's so cute! Things are good here in KL, but it'll be just perfect if all my loved ones were with me.

Goodbye Lely. Hello routine :(

Lely left for the ships again a few weeks ago. It's been good catching up with her this time around. I think we've all grown up a little from the last time. It's amazing how things change with time... and like good wine, we get better \(^.^)/

It seems to be routine to have dinner @ Squire's Loft. Unfortunately, this time around, we didn't get to cook crabs like the last. Work's just been really busy and we thought, the time's better spent on the golf club!! kekeke... Oh yeah, btw... did I tell you guys that Jon's joined a golf and country club, and we've been spending some time there! :) Will show you guys pics some other time...

We met up for breakfast before Lely left. She killed two birds with one stone, cause she made apointments with both Teresa and us. It was a great opportunity to catch up with Teresa as well, cause we haven't seen her in months!! We've been soooo outdated with what's going on in everybody's life.

We spent hours chatting and trying to finish our food! We ordered the big breakfast, cause we felt soooo hungry initially, and thought we could finish our food in a flash, but the portions turned out really big!! Like OMG! Lely and I both didn't finish our bread, cause they were simply. too. much!

A compulsory shot of the girls, of course...

We were soooo full by the end of it, Teresa wanted a photo of us "looking really full". Initially, when I looked at the photo, I went "Hey!! You didn't play along!" to Jon. AND THEN, I realised that he was actually holding his tummy in the photo! Oh too cute... kekekeke...

Lely's gone now, and so is Funny, and Ah Ber. But the good thing is, I'M NOT AT WORK!! I'm on annual leave for the next two weeks~! Will be going back to Malaysia tomorrow night, and probably doing some local travelling with my family. Yay!! Can't wait... All I need to do now, is to start packing! I don't know what to pack! So many things I wanna bring~! Blarghhh...

Belated birthday celebration in KL, anyone??

I'm getting fattt!

Recently, we've been eating out quite abit, trying out different restaurants and eateries around Camberwell. Firstly, the sister was around, and the mom and AhBer were staying with us for abit too, so been bringing them to try the "local" food.

The other day, Jon just said "We're going to Italy 1 for dinner" and it wasn't in conjunction with anything... I suppose he just felt like having a nice dinner. And we've been feeling like "nice dinners" quite frequently.. kekekek.

Not that it's not a good thing, but I feel like my waist is expanding with every meal~!! I'm sooo getting fat!

He's always so reluctant to be in photos. This one's not so bad cause he managed to give me a smile. Haha.

The oysters here are absolutely divine!! They're served with lime, instead of the usual lemon... which I seem to really like~! Combined with fresh oysters (possibly from the bay?) the gest of lime just makes it soooo much fresher~ Oh yums!!! My compulsory starter everytime I go there.

We were still early, so it was still quite quiet. The place starting filling up around 7ish... and then it started getting a tad bit too noisy...

Of course Mei's happy! Free yummy dinner for me.... kakakak!

And I look sooo fat in this pic! Oh goshhh :(

The Italy 1 in Camberwell - there's also another outlet in the city. Food's just as yummy too... and their menu changes from season to season.... so you don't keep getting the same kinda food all year round!

Yes, we're two happy people in the world :)

Jonny boy's seafood linguine...

And my squid ink risotto which was absolutely one of daaaa bessttttt I've had :)

Needless to say, we went back again and again and again... hehehe. The first time I've been to the Italy 1 in Camberwell was maybe 2 years ago, when Jon brought me here for my birthday. And then we just never stopped coming back... cause it's soooo much more convenient as compared to getting into the city, and food's super duper delicious~!!

Oh btw, I'll be flying off to Malaysia tomorrow :) So moreeeee food for me! **which ain't helping my growing waistline and face**

Would love to meet up with all **ok, maybe all is a little too ambitious** maybe some of my friends when I'm back! And Cammie, you're engaged?! You better tell me the story when I get back!!!

Mount Dandenong Day Trip

OMG!!! This is seriously wayyy overdue! I just realised that I haven't touched my blog in awhile... and I've got this half-completed post sitting in my draft box!

Anyways, for those of you who didn't know... I spent last year's Christmas and New Year's with my sister, Funny... and we did some touristy stuff during my days off. We wanted to get a breath of fresh air **this is way before the disastrous Victorian bushfires** so we decided to head to Mount Dandenongs - and of course, stopping by the infamous Miss Marples for lunch.

Jonathan & Mei.

We had to make bookings because this place is always packed to the brim!!

But one can understand why~!! Cause the teas are splendid, and my ultimate favourite - the yummilicious pumpkin soup with melted cheese.... YUMMMM~! The scones were obviously delivious, but everyone already knows that...

After stuffing ourselves silly, we decided to walk off some calories! Hahahaha...

Jacy, Funny, Mei and Jon at the beautiful Mount Dandenong Lookout.
I love this shot, cause the clouds almost look fake! They look like candy floss, you just wanna pop them into your mouth, and wait for them to meltttt... MmMm...

The afternoon was spent mostly in the Rhododendron Gardens, where we went a little happy snappy!

Upon returning to Melbourne, we took a short rest before heading into the city for dinner. We made reservations at Meat and Wine Co in Southbank for some yummy steak and lamb before Funny's departure the next day. Besides, it was a good opportunity for her to catch up with the ever-so-busy Adeline and Karen.

**Speaking of being busy, lucky Addy's taken 6 months off work** Lucky biatch, she's been having fun and travelling the world!! I'm super jealousssss!!!

The sisters :) I love you, Funny!

The four of us yet again - Jonny, Mei, Funny and Jacy.

Man, I miss you... but it's okay. I'm gonna have Mommy in a couple of days :D Hopefully, I won't be toooooo busy on my night shifts so I can spend some time with mom during the day! I can't wait, yippie!!!
