The New Me.

YES!! I finally made a bold move to snip my hair off! Things I get up to on my days off, I tell ya... One day, I just decided that I was bored looking at my long, limp, brown hair... and decided that I should cut it short like Posh Spice and dye it black!

I just wanted a change....

Something different!

And here it is.... my new concave bob... Super black, silky hair!

Because I dyed it black..

It looks more like a Rihanna bob now, instead of the Posh bob... But it's okay :D I like it... Not too short, but I reckon it's still quite edgy :P I might cut it shorter when I go back for a trim sometime.... but for now, I guess I'll stick to being safe. After all, I still get shocked waking up to short, black hair. Will probably take awhile before I get totally used to it.

All I need now, is a round brush, to curl my ends and make it more "bob". Sigh... the down side of having fine, straight hair. NO volume!

On a separate note, I met up with Mabel today... an old friend that I haven't seen in ages! And thanks to Facebook, I just found out that she's now in Melbourne, and working at the Austin! What a small small world!! :D Anyways, since we're both on days off, we spontaneously decided to meet up...

I'm currently at this "I wanna catch up with old friends"... "I wanna be better at keeping in touch" mood. Saw Kin Shang the other day... and now Mabel. Next on the list is everyone together~! A little gathering, perhaps...

Anyways, back to meeting Mabel... Since she lives up north, I suggested going to Westfield, Doncaster, which is sort of the in-between point for us.

I swear, Westfield Doncaster looks brand new now!! AND huge too!! I was totally lost when I got there today! And they've got nice shops now too, like glue, Hyper DC, G Star RAW, kikki K, and plenty more! The new wing looks awesome~!!

We decided to have coffee at this place called Theobroma Chocolate Lounge... It's kinda like KokoBlack, only more awesome cause their hot chocolate, comes heated in a warmer. PURE hot Belgian chocolate in a muggggg... YUMMM.... so sinfully yummy!

Mabel dearie, and Mei :)

Thank you Mabel, for buying me coffee... AND giving me that kikki K voucher! Perhaps I'll scout out something cute @ Chaddy's VIP night later. WHEE~!!!!

Oh well, hopefully, I don't burn no holes in my already super uber light wallet! :)

If you guys are gonna be at Chaddy tonight, see you later!

XOXO. Lots of love from da fa-mee-lee...

Oh my glorious days off...

Yes, with the amount of posts I'm posting now, obviously I'm on my days off!

I woke up early yesterday to drop Jonny boy to the train station as he sent his car in for service. **Speaking of which, Honda just mailed me a reminder to service my car too** I was then up, and was surfing the internet, and browsing through photos on the ever-so-addictive Facebook, when Gaya messaged me for brunch.

AND she suggested to have pancakes!! Oh, I just couldn't resist! Besides, she bailed on us for dinner the other night, so I figured this is a good time to catch up with the latest goss in town, since she's always full of funny, juicy stories!

Friends for almost a decade now: Mei & Gaya.

As I sat down, the choo-choo train went past! Teeheehee... Suddenly, I remember why we love Pancake Parlour. Not only for the pancakes, but also for the entertainment! The little distortion mirrors, space shuttles and trains, and of course, board games and etc!

Headed to Chaddy after lunch and got my flight ticket back to KL in July :) Will be going to Cambodia with my family, and then coming back and off to NZ again with Jon! July will be packed with action, alright :)

Spent the quality afternoon with my gorgeous doggie! He's turning one in a couple of days, and is proving to be quite an adorable boy.... Love love love him to bits! He was being superbly cute yesterday, that I couldn't resist bringing him out for a walk, as it was a nice sunny day yesterday.

The vain dog walker... kekekeke.

My cutesy little doggie! :D Uncle Peter always said that Remy could clean his floorboards, just by rolling around, cause he's such a fluff ball!

My little puppy's growing up to be quite a stunner! Or at least I think so... He usually gets compliments and oogles whenever he goes out! Hehe. Will be hunting down some pressies for him for his upcoming birthday! Anyone feeling generous?? :)

Friday Night...

Yesterday was a rather interesting one for me... I finished my last night shift on Friday morning, and went to Glenny to get some pee mats for Remy. Went home to get some rest after that, as I was heading to the city for dinner with Candice and Simon before they head off to their Europe adventure!!!

Candice suggested dinner at Sarti's. I have not been there before, but I must admit that it was indeed a good suggestion. The menu's kinda modern italian / fusion, with some pretty interesting dishes. The head chef is apparently quite an avid hunter - which is why we get rabbits, pigeons and suckling lambs etc. on the menu.

Yes, I was adventurous enough to try the rabbit loin. I had to ask the waiter like, three times.... "Are you sure it's okay? You sure it doesn't have a strong taste to it??"

And Jon had the suckling lamb which was superbly tender and juicy... YUM.... Candice had some rabbit cuscini pasta, and Simon just stuck to the normal seafood marinara. Hehehe. Oh well, someone had to be the normal one for the night :)

Candice and Simon shared a dessert - the Jaffa.

Small talks over dinner and dessert led to a rather serious one, about the new Labor budget, and FBT, baby bonuses etc. Sighhh... Clearly, doctors are overworked, and underpaid... and it's not getting any better. We decided that we should just stop working, and start making babies now, so we're below the 150K threshold, to get our baby bonus! Hahahaha.... only kidding!

She's everything: An ex-classmate, to a colleague, to a dog-walking neighbour, to an excellent friend! Have a greaattt time touring Europe, babe! Will miss you. Shall catch up when you get back, ya?

Jon and I shared some pastry dessert. Its fancy name - I can't quite remember... hehehe... Basically, it's a pastry dessert, with fig and chocolate filling, topped with a scoop of zesty lemony chocolate gelati! YUMMOOOOO... That scoop of ice cream has to be one of the best I've
tasted! Better than Il Dolce Freddo,  I have to say!

One of Candice and Simon...

After all the rich stuff filling up our stomach, we decided to adjourn to have something to wash down the fats, and burn some calories... so we decided to take a stroll down Collin's Street, and made a stop at Brunetti's for some tea, and more chatting...

We decided to call it a night, and headed home about 10ish. Sigh, are we getting old or what?!!

Oh btw, looking at the pics of my hair really makes me irk. I was thinking of coloring my hair black, and cutting it short ala Victoria Beckham... What do you think?? Too drastically adventurous?! I quite like it...

I think I'd prefer the first one. Not too short, but still edgy :)

Does it always have to have a title?

She could not comprehend why she couldn't stop tearing over a trivially small matter this evening. She took a drive to calm herself down, to take her mind off things. She then stopped at the supermarket to get something for her little baby - The one who's constantly there for her, the one who always seems to know when she needs a cuddle.

Her phone wouldn't stop ringing, but she was drowning in her own thoughts. All she could hear was "What does this make us? What's the next step? Where do we go from here?". She wasn't ready to talk. She couldn't string words together to form comprehensible sentences. Her mind was a blank, not so much from anger, but more disappointment and sadness.

He was right. It wasn't about today. It was about all that's been happening. It's about them.

"I think we need some space" she finally said it. She finally uttered those words, that she never thought she would have enough courage of saying. "There's so much you need to figure out, that we need to figure out".

I think she finally realised that she wanted more than that. She wanted him to want just her, to respect her, to appreciate her for the little things she do, for her patience, for always trying and not giving up. She wanted effort from him. She wanted to see change, and not just sweet words from his mouth.

But above all, she wanted herself back. She wanted to not suffocate anymore. She does not want to be the person she is. She does not like the person she is. She kept telling herself, "I do not want to lose myself, my old self" but I guess in life, you win some, you lose some...

-----------------------------------------------------

Pick yourself up, and life goes on, baby...

I wish Sex and the City was still showing on the small screen! Having said that, I can't wait for the movie to be released here. I haven't been to a movie in yonks!

------------------------------------------------------

On a totally separate, irrelevant note,

It was great meeting up with Kin Shang again! I reckon the last time I saw him was probably 2 years ago, minus the time when he bumped into me in Glenny a couple of months back. I didn't even see him then, cause I was totally buggered after work...

But this time around, we managed to sit down, catch up and reminisce the good old times~! Oh how I miss his funny antics! :) eheheheh... We should totally do this again some time soon...

It'll be soooo great if the rest of the gang was here too, don't you reckon??

Little Melbourne Love

Today was one of the warmer days. It's been freezing cold the past few weeks, that I'm sure my balls will shrink if I were to be a male! :) But let's not get there....

Since I was lazing at home, and on my days off, preparing for a week of oh-so-familiarly-dreadful-nights... I decided to meet Jon for lunch, and then head back to payroll to sort out my public holidays pay! *yeaps, I reckon I got short paid! But it's all good now*

We had lunch in some quaint little alley near his work place in Richmond. They serve really yummy soups there... but the price is quite dear for soup though! I had the lentils and vegetable soup for $9 dollars.... The food, however, is pretty much standard. Not too expensive...

Don't you just love Melbourne? You can get everything, from fast food, to Asian take away's, to fine dining, to 5 star hotel restaurants, to quaint cutesy little cafe's tucked away in alleys!

It was good sitting outside, under the autumn sky, where the leaves were red and falling. Did I mention that I love autumn?? And the weather wasn't too biting on the skin today. It was clean and crisp, and just nice :) **the bin at the back was just papers and cardboard! So, don't you worry, it wasn't smelly! hehehehe**

Headed to Chapel Street for some designer shopping. Prahran Town Hall was having this European Designer sale - where everything was 50 - 70% off! :D Saw this Prada down jacket, that was going for $1299 after discount... and a Chloe bag that was still 2K plus after discount.... Needless to say, I didn't get any of them. There was another black Marc by Marc Jacobs sling bag, that was quite affordable, but I guess the guilt from the recent bag shopping got to me... Was looking at some shirts to buy for Jon, but nothing really caught my eye...

And I walked out of the place empty handed! Quite proud of myself for the self control though!! :) **phew, that was hard work!**

Got home after some window shopping, and had dinner with Linda :) She looks so cute now with her short hair! Definitely doesn't look her age, at all!! She looks like a little girl! :) Remy had a good time with Ewok and ObiWan as well... running around, chasing and sniffing each other! :) We should definitely do it again, babe!

Tomorrow will be my last day of freedom and lazing around before slogging away on the infamously busy, and understaffed night shifts :( I'm soooo not looking forward to going back to work! Thinking about it is making me depressed already...

I wish money would just miraculously appear in my bank account, without me having to work! hehehehhe.... Yeah rite!!! I wish~!!

Kiddies or Oldies...

In case you haven't noticed, the majority of patients in hospitals comprises of little kiddies, or oldies with multiple co-morbidities, with the exception of trauma victims, of course.

I have been working in Monash's Paediatrics Emergency Department for the past odd month or so... the main paediatrics tertiary referral centre in the South East region of Victoria. (The North West mainly goes to the Royal Children's Hospital). And thus, have the privilege to see complicated paediatrics emergency cases, on top of the usual, mundane respiratory illness come winter.

I started off kinda hating the job, because I felt like an intern (or even a medical student) all over again! Not knowing the standard procedure / protocol, not knowing the dose per kilo of drugs on the top of my head, and not forgetting, inability to get a history FROM the patient, often "I just know she's not quite herself. She's been crying the whole time!".

But as time goes by, it really grew on me. The cute little kiddies they become when they improve and perk up! It somehow, makes your work feel more worthwhile, contrasting with "Patient is NFR. Admit for conservative / palliative management " in adult medicine - where you basically keep them comfortable, providing them a better means to die.

Autumn comes winter... Dose per kilo is starting to stick to my head now, and I'm getting used to writing iv fluid orders as ml's per hour, rather than 8/24, 12/24.... as everything is calculated based on weight and age! And the best part of the job is, when your little patients really like you, talk about you to their extended family members when they come to visit, gives you their best drawing, and most of all, when they say "thank you" and gives you that big hugggg, and blows you a kiss, before they step out of the emergency department...

And that's when I realise that, this place, this job... not only make the kids feel good, but it makes me feel great too!

Yeah, sue me for being an emotional softie! :P

Goodbye and take care, babe!!

Jon and I managed to catch up with Lely before she leaves to sail over the Caribbean again! Time surely seemed to have fly by! Before you know it, April's gone!! *poof* and May has greeted us without us expecting... She'll be leaving again soon, so we thought we should meet up with her again before she disappears for another 9 months or so...

As she felt like having steak, we decided to head down to Squire's Loft on Toorak Road - we reckon they have one of the best steaks in town! The steaks were juicy, and Jon particularly likes the marinade...

Lely, Lien, Mei & Jon.

After a satisfying dinner, we sat down for a chat... but after abit, started to feel bad, cause we didn't order desserts or coffee... so we decided to leave and head somewhere for coffee...

Walked to Chapel Street, and made a stop at Greco's for some drinks and dessert... When I used to live in the city, we used to head to Greco's at Crown all the time! Things most definitely have changed over the years... Now, most of us are no longer in the city.... some are not even in the state anymore! Our new regular hangout: Chaddy, Camberwell, Hawthorn... hahahah...

Happified Lely and Lien, enjoying their sticky date pudding! :)

The night ended about 10ish as Lien was starting to feel really tired... and needed to wake up early for work the next day... Yeaps, she just started working for this design company in the CBD, and enjoying it!

Well, hope things go well for the both of you... and hope to see you soon! Lils, all the best if I don't get to see you before you go... and Lien, catch up soon, alrite???

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Do you remember that Christmas song?? Well, now it's been constantly in my head due to the erratic weather recently...

I know it's not quite winter yet, but it's been blardee cold the past week or so. And it didn't stop raining yesterday. Finally went down to the city and collected my food processor. (Yow's mom also bought me brunch - went to Sharksfin House. YUMMM! Thanks aunty). Traffic was kinda slow, and the weather was shit! Was raining the whole arvo, and it was freezing cold!

One good thing though, it's started snowing up in the mountains~!! Yippedidoodah! So, hopefully, we'll get a great season this year. AND to top things off, my new snowgear has arrived from the States! **thanks pookie, for the pair of new pants**.

Now all I need to do, is just wait veryyyy patiently for the snow season to start, and Mei will be one very happy bunny!

WHEEEE!!!!

Does anyone wanna go skiing / boarding with us?
